Chapter 2 - Building Trust

Jake's P.O.V

Ten minutes before training...

    It feels like it's been forever since I told Becca about being mates. I got to practice early just so that I could talk to her again and see what she's thinking. I have wanted her so bad ever since I knew that she was my mate. Why was I so stupid to not tell her sooner, I could have spent all this time being around her more instead of fooling around with all these other whores. 

    'So glad that the stupidity has finally clicked in.' Hex, my wolf, says.

    'Shut up! I know and I'm going to pay for it everyday and I'm going to do everything I can to make it up to her.' I snap back at him. But I don't get anything back from him.

    I look at my watch to see what time it is. It's still too early for anyone to really be here, but I know that Becca takes training very seriously so I know that she'll be here soon. Just as I'm looking at the house to see if she's walking out I can see Sally, from the corner of my eye, coming up to me. "Oh great." I think to myself as I roll my eyes. What on Earth does she want now, I know I shouldn't have done anything with her last year because ever since she has followed me like a little lost puppy. I want to run away, but I know it's too late. She may be a warrior's daughter, but she's not that strong or determined to be the same as her father. Becca on the other hand is so strong, she could probably take me down. I smile at the thoughts of Becca, but it quickly disappears as Sally starts to talk.

    "Hey handsome." Sally tries to say in a sexy voice, but all it sounds like to me is nails on a chalk board.

    "Hey." I try to be short and show disinterest, but that only makes her try harder to get my attention.

    "You are looking very sexy today. Maybe we can skip training today and go do other vigorous activities." 

    She pulls me into her and goes to kiss me, but that's when I notice Becca and Sarah walking towards us. I haven't turned my face enough so Sally ends up kissing the corner of my mouth and this when I know we are all in trouble. 

    "Mine." I hear Becca growl out. It's so loud and strong that I feel it vibrate my chest and that gets Sally to back off of me. I'm proud of my mate until I remember she is about to rip Sally's head off any second. I can see that Sarah is trying to hold her back, but is having a lot trouble seeing that Becca is so strong. I again lose my train of thought admiring her body and how much I want to kiss her, but I quickly shake my head and focus again.

    Once I'm back to reality I can see that Connor is holding Becca back now instead of Sarah. I wonder how he got here so fast. I guess that's a question for another time. I can see Becca's eyes going from dark blue to her normal icy blue and I know that she must be fighting with her wolf. I can feel the anger that is coursing through her body right now and know that I have to at least calm her down. I slowly start to walk over to Becca. Connor now has her against the fence, but I can tell that even he is struggling to hold her back. I look back at Sally that has by now started running away for the sake of her life. I laugh to myself before I get to Becca. Just as I place a hand on her shoulder I can see her eyes turn that dark blue. I know that her wolf is taking control, but hopefully I'm not too late.

    I'm now standing in front of her both hands on her shoulders. I can see her breathing evening out as she can sense my presence. Her eyes are turning back to their normal icy blue and I know that Becca is coming back to us, back to me. I can feel my wolf stir a little wanting her so bad. I take a deep breath myself to calm both of us down. Becca starts to look around a little bit remembering what's going on and I can see the hurt in her eyes. Then she pushed me back and my instinct kicked in and I sent her a warning growl. No hits the Alpha, not even my mate. But she's too angry and hurt to listen to it. Becca continues to punch and kick me and I strike back, but nothing too damaging just more as defensive. But Becca is definitely a better fighter than I am and soon gets the best of me taking me out at my legs. 

    As I'm on my back Becca stays on top of me and I decide not to fight her. She bested me and I love her even more for being able to do that and I just can't get enough of her. I just want to explain everything and mark her so that she can be mine, always. But I know when to keep my mouth shut at times and this was one of those times. Just as I'm admiring her she starts to scream at me. 

    "I told you I needed time to think and you took that as go make out with other girls until I want to be with you. This is the problem to begin with. I was ready to trust you and be with you, but now I'm not so sure. I hate you so much right now. My heart is breaking right now." I can see the tears running down her face and all I want to do is wipe them away and kiss her.

    'Go to her you i***t!' Hex yells.

    'She's not going to let me. We need to wait and give her a little bit of time.' I tell him and sigh.

    She finally gets off of me and starts running away. I can see her shift when she gets into the trees. I start to go after her, but Connor stops me. I look at him like it is the wrong time to stop me, but then Sarah's sweet voice speaks up, "You have to give her some time before you explain. I know you, but she doesn't so she just needs some time." I just nod my head agreeing with her. 

    I know that everyone can see the sadness in my eyes. And like always my best friend Holden runs up late. He's always late to our morning training session. Why couldn't he had been on time today because then none of this would have happened. I know he can tell something is wrong, but he waits to say anything until it's just the two of us. I'm glad that he's not only my best bud, but also my beta. Things are going to be the best when we run this pack. After a few minutes I realize that we are alone and I wait for him to ask.

    "So what did I miss?" Holden asks with a smirk on his face.

    "Well I told Becca this morning that we are mates and she realized it too. She said she had to sort her feelings and I wanted to respect that, but you know how I am when I want things. So, I was waiting for her down here and that's when Sally showed up and tried to kiss me and I was trying to pull away and that didn't happen so she kissed the corner of my lips and Becca saw the whole thing. Then she kicked my ass and then ran into the woods." He just sighs and shakes his head.

    "I told you to stop playing around with all those other girls when you realized that she was your mate." We both chuckle. 

    "Maybe when you say something smart I'll listen next time." I say and pat his back as we go to start our training session. 

    "Yeah, I guess I'll just have to ask her to kick your ass again because I think I would really enjoy that. Maybe make some popcorn." Holden says, laughing.

Later that day...

    It's starting to get late and I still haven't seen Becca back in the house anywhere and I'm starting to get worried. I go down to Sarah's room to see if she's there or knows where I can find her. When I'm about to knock I can hear laughing and in hopes to it being Becca I knock way harder than I had to. After a few seconds Sarah opens the door just enough to stick her head out. "Is Becca in there?" I ask trying to peak around her head to see inside the room.

    "No, she's not. I haven't seen or heard from her since this morning. Maybe you should check her room." She says quickly and then slams the door in my face before I can say anything else.

    As I'm walking away I pass Sarah's mom and so I ask her if she's seen Becca at all, but sadly she hasn't either. So I continue down to her room to check. I knock on the door, but I don't get an answer and I don't hear anyone either. I knock again and wait just to make sure that no ones there before I enter to look around. I know her dad is away with my dad so it should just be her. After a few minutes of waiting I open the door and walk in. I look every where on her floor to see if she could be anywhere, but no such luck. That's when this awful feeling starts in the pit of my stomach. I know something is wrong. I run all over the house looking for her. After about an hour I see my mom in the kitchen so I decide to ask her. 

    "Hey, Mom have you seen Becca lately?" I ask with a little concern in my voice.

    "No, I haven't. I'm sorry. Did you scare her off after telling her that you're mates." She says with her sweet, knowing smile.

    Just the mention of us being mates makes me smile, but I have to focus. "I was being a jackass and she ran off. I was giving her some time to cool down and think, but no one has seen her since this morning and I have this awful feeling that something bad is about to happen to her. Mom. I need her." I say as I hang my head in shame in the stupidity of myself. 

    My mom rubs my back trying to sooth me, but nothing is going to help except for my mate and knowing that she is safe. I can feel Hex going crazy inside my head and it's giving me a headache. I run my hands through my hair to try and calm both of down a little bit, but then I feel this awful pain in my head. It's almost feels like someone is trying to mind link me, but they can't get through. It's so painful I fall to my knees grabbing my head. I know that this has to be Becca and she needs my help. My mom is next to me holding me until the pain stops.

    I can finally get up and that's when I tell my mom to keep an eye on everyone here and keep everyone safe. She just nods her head. I mind link Holden and Connor to meet me in the woods to go after Becca. I get to the tree line in the back and I wait for the guys, While I wait I sniff out Becca's scent to see which way she went. I strip down to my boxers and shift as the boys are running and shift midair to follow me. I follow the sweet scent of rain to find Becca. My sweet mate.
