Chapter 44: Hair Hime

934 Words
Luther was dragged off the counter and flew through the horde. There were only a dozen zombies left, but Luther didn't pay much attention to them. His goal was to kill the Hair Hime behind the zombies, but since he was in the middle of all the action, he took the opportunity to kill them from the center of their horde. But unlike Frank, Luther chopped off the heads of two zombies as soon as he was close enough. With the pull of the Hair Hime, Luther kept moving without needing to use his own legs. He plowed through seven or eight zombies, sending them to the ground without their heads before finally reaching the Hair Hime. Oliver and the others now understood what he was doing, but they noticed that Luther was not afraid of the zombies. It seemed that he was staying at the counter to protect them. "Luther already killed most of them. We can handle the rest." Elena was the first to jump over the counter, ready to fight off the horde. Several zombie heads were removed by the scythe in her hand. Oliver was not far behind. Since the fight started, he couldn’t fight as much as his powers allowed him to. There were too many zombies and he had no space to fight. The game hall was Oliver's home base, so to speak. He used his power to jump above the horde and no zombie could catch his feet. He was very agile, and he could dodge their grasp with ease. ----- Meanwhile, Luther now faced Hair Hime with cold eyes. It was an evolved zombie that killed one of his temporary teammates. Although they were not very close, he was still angry to see Frank die. He knew it was useless to feel angry at a zombie but killing the monster that killed Frank was his new mission. When he looked closely at the Hair Hime, he saw that it was different from the other zombies. Her body was full, and her skin was white. The reason why the creature was named a Hair Hime (or, hair princess) was due to her plump figure and fair face. If you looked closely, you would even think she once looked pretty. But all of this was up to his own speculation. He didn’t care for the people these zombies were before they were infected, all he knew was they would have to die for him to live. The Hair Hime was an evolved zombie who had gained strong instincts for defending itself against attacks. When Luther rushed through the zombies to get to her, she felt endangered and quickly launched an attack, shooting out three pieces of her long hair like a wave of water, and wrapped them around Luther's head, waist, and feet. The attack was quick, but Luther didn't really care because Hair Hime seemed aggressive but was not as strong as she seemed. This Hair Hime, all alone, posed no threat to Luther now. When the hair reached him, Luther chopped it off. To his surprise, the hair was so strong that the blade could not slice through it. He was taken by surprise and he had to step back to avoid getting grabbed by the ankles, while the black hair that reached out to his waist wrapped around him tight. The Hair Hime was very strong, otherwise, she couldn't have pulled 200 pounds of Frank. She shook her head so hard that Luther flew right to her. Luther didn’t panic. He didn’t retreat. Instead, he advanced and stabbed her with his sword. The creature’s black hair wrapped more around Luther. Luther was enveloped in a large black ball that tightened with him inside. Luther struggled to move, bumping the ball to the left and right, but he couldn’t free himself. Elena had plowed through most of the zombie horde and found that Luther was covered in hair. She worried for him, but there were still several zombies nearby, and she couldn’t stop fighting for even a second. She feared that Luther was dead. "Luther," she cried. Just then, the black ball of hair shuddered. Suddenly, it seemed that ice was flowering through tiny slits between the strands. The black ball began to crack, and the creature tried to retract her hair, but it was no longer in her control. In less than a minute, the hairball was weighed down to touching the floor, and it seemed to expand with the ice. Luther broke out of the cocoon, and as he did so, he struck out, his blade slicing through the creature’s neck. Her head fell off, making a loud crack on the ground, while her fair face began to shrivel and rot. Her eyes dried up and her hair began to fall out. Just for a moment, her beautiful head became like an ordinary zombies’ ugly appearance. They saw Luther break out of the cocoon and kill the Hair Hime. They sighed in relief.        They knew he was more powerful than all of them combined, and they feared what might happen to them if he couldn’t defeat the monster. Fortunately, the Hair Hime was killed, and they could sit down and take a breath in their exhaustion. Luther was also feeling sluggish. He had already used a lot of his power to make ice to cover the battlefield. After that, he had to use his power to defeat the Hair Hime. "Let's keep going and find a place to rest." Although they were very tired, none of them were in the mood to rest. Not here. Everyone nodded and headed upstairs. Before leaving, Oliver picked up Frank's backpack and Elena gazed mournfully at what was left of Frank's body until Oliver patted her on the shoulder. Elena trudged along to keep up with the team.
