Hello everyone, my name is Chen Buqi. You ask what my occupation is? Well, it's a long list: Taoist priest, locksmith, cook, small-time vendor, bus driver, tomb raider consultant... these are just a few, I have too many identities to list. I was raised by my master and uncle since I was a child. Both of them are legendary figures in the world, though it wasn't until a year after I left the mountain that I realized just how incredible they truly are.

Due to my love for fun, I wasted many cultivation techniques that others envy. But fortunately, I’m skilled in face reading, and I have two unique life-saving abilities—face reading lets me make a living, and the other two skills are my lifeline.

I’m not particularly fond of slaying demons and monsters. In fact, there are times when I’m simply not strong enough to face them. But when I do have to confront them, I usually choose to resolve things with virtue. After all, I’m not an ordinary person, and the spirits and ghosts tend to give me some face. Over time, I’ve grown and matured. Life feels like a tightrope walk, every step filled with danger. As for my work, well, you’ll have to watch how I handle it.

In the end, I will carve my own path in life and find my own glory!

10.Yu Xuan's Coming of Age Ceremony
It was barely sunrise when Fat Yu was already on his tiptoes peeking into He Hui’s room from the back balcony. Meanwhile, Chen Buqi was still dead asleep in his room, wrapped up like a burrito. “Yu bro, up so early?” He Hui appeared at the door, hair messily piled on her head, rocking a pink tank top and tiny hotpants. Fat Yu's eyes went full cartoon-heart mode. Even like this, she’s an angel! Maybe a slightly mischievous angel… but definitely mine! “I read somewhere,” Fat Yu thought dramatically, “that a girl only shows her real self in front of the one she truly loves.” What he didn’t know was, He Hui had actually been up way earlier—hiding behind the curtains like a spy, waiting to catch him sneaking peeks. The moment he popped up, she smirked and then strolled out pretending she just woke up. “You eaten yet, He Hui? I can grab you something,” Fat Yu asked, grinning like a lovesick puppy. “Nah, I just wanna look at you~ teehee,” He Hui replied cheekily. “I… I got something I wanna ask you…” Fat Yu suddenly went serious. He Hui’s heart skipped a beat. Crap, not now! She quickly activated her Sad Puppy Eyes mode, looking so pitiful it jammed Fat Yu’s words in his throat. “Yu bro~ What is it?” she blinked, looking all delicate and innocent. Fat Yu was this close to exploding. Then bam! out came Chen Buqi, face completely emotionless. “He’s about to ask how much it costs to sleep with you for one night.” “Bro, what the hell?!” Fat Yu tried to shove him back in the room. “Chill.” Chen Buqi stood face-to-face with He Hui. “What do you take me for?!” she stomped, all righteous indignation. “Cut the act. We’re all adults here. 5000 bucks—deal?” he said coldly. “Yu bro… I misjudged you!” He Hui stormed off to her room. “I’m returning the money you lent me yesterday!” “No! Buqi, what are you doing?!” Fat Yu was tomato red. “Shush. Just watch.” Chen Buqi stood firm. Soon, He Hui returned with the cash, fuming. “Here!” she shoved the money at him. Chen Buqi grabbed one end, she wouldn’t let go. A tug-of-war ensued. “Gimme that!” He yanked it free. “Go scam someone else next time,” he snapped, trying to drag Fat Yu back inside. “I’m serious. Trust me,” he whispered. Just as they were heading in— “Wait! Was that 5000 real?” He Hui blurted out. Chen Buqi smirked. Fat Yu's soul left his body. “You want tonight or tomorrow night?” Chen Buqi asked, arm around Fat Yu’s shoulders. “Bro…” Fat Yu’s eyes turned misty. “Forget it then,” Chen Buqi said and turned to go. “I don’t have money right now!” Fat Yu clung to his arm. “3000! Lowest price!” He Hui yelled, desperate. Fat Yu turned around like she’d just slapped him with a frying pan. “You, come here,” Chen Buqi pointed. She practically somersaulted over. “5000, as promised. Not a cent less. You’ll get the rest tomorrow. Here’s a 1500 deposit.” He handed over the cash. “Why should I trust you?” she raised a brow. “Don’t. Just do your job. We got stuff to do at noon,” he said and walked off, leaving behind a stunned Fat Yu and a conflicted He Hui. On the stairs, Chen Buqi met up with Lao Bi. “Chill, we’ll leave after my bro’s done,” he said with a grin. Lao Bi nodded, and they headed to breakfast. Back inside, He Hui, having made up her mind, strutted into Fat Yu’s room. She pulled the curtains, flipped the blanket, and gracefully flopped onto the bed, beckoning him with a finger. Fat Yu was stunned speechless. Like, is this even real? “Well? Go shower!” she said as she took off her tank top like it was just Tuesday. Blood rushing to his head, Fat Yu skipped the shower and dove in like a starving tiger. “Ow! Be gentle, will ya?” she muttered, tying up her hair casually. As the song First Time by Michael Wong played in the background—talking about sweet first kisses and everlasting love—Fat Yu experienced his very own first time, complete with He Hui’s suspiciously professional skill set. “Hey fatty, your bro’s not gonna ghost me, right?” she asked, glistening with sweat. “Relax, we’re not that kind of people,” Fat Yu panted. “What do you guys even do? Renting a place this big for just two of you?” she asked. “We’re international assassins,” Fat Yu said, lighting a cigarette like a movie villain. “Pffft, liar. Gimme one,” He Hui laughed and held out her fingers. “Seriously, what’s your deal?” Fat Yu looked her up and down. “I’m working, obviously. What do you think I’m here for, vacation?” she rolled her eyes. “So this… is your job?” “Yep. Side hustle. I’m someone’s mistress. Just happened to have a gap in my schedule, lucky you.” She exhaled a perfect smoke ring. “Holy sh— What about your family?” “Relax, I was just messing with you. We’re all out here trying to survive. Your bro really splurged though—5000 is like six months of what other dudes pay!” “DAMMIT!” Fat Yu was shaking with rage. “You still want more? If not, I’m leaving.” She dangled a leg off the bed. “No way! I’m getting my 5000 bucks worth!” He tossed his cigarette and yanked her back in. Cue the Journey to the West theme song. By noon, Fat Yu, wobbly-legged and pale, finally made it downstairs. He found Chen Buqi and Lao Bi waiting in the car. “Bro…” he grinned like a kid who just got his first toy. “Get in,” Chen Buqi clapped him on the shoulder and handed over some takeout. Lao Bi just shook his head, chuckling as the car cruised off toward Uncle’s mansion.
