Warrior Princess

Chapter 1

"Hey Princess" a voice says behind me.

"Hey Alex" I say with a smile as I continue to eat my lunch. I get called princess a lot. My dad has always called me princess but some of the pack boys started calling me it to tease me. He sits down next to me to and soon our lunch table is full of our friends. I am off in my own world of stress when my Alex taps me on the shoulder.

"What? What did you say?" I ask him slightly confused.

He chuckles, "a penny for your thoughts?"

"OH I was just thinking about my birthday party next month. Mom is making a big deal out of it" I say as my face begins to turn red. It wasn't a total lie, I was thinking about who mate might be, which comes along with my birthday.

Alex gets a big grin on his face and his Carmel colored eyes begin to shine. "Should be the party of the year! I cant wait!" he says excitedly pushing some of his shaggy brown hair out of his eyes. Alex, Olivia, Nathan and I have been inseparable for years. The 4 of us have been best friends for as long as I can remember, also for as long as I can remember Alex has had a crush on me. Its not super surprising. I have long almost platinum blonde hair that runs all the way down to my waist, ice blue eyes that tend to scare people if I look at them too close and I have a super athletic body because I have dedicated my life to working out and being strong.

Olivia joins our conversation now, done leaving me to my thoughts and says "we need to go to the mall! I saw the best dress the other day when I was window shopping and it would be perfect for your birthday!" Olivia is a little bit shorter than me with a blonde pixie cut and Grey eyes. She likes to work out with me but not the same extreme. We also have different ideas about meeting our mates. She is about as obsessed as Akita, she talks about it all the time.

"I could probably go Friday" I say giving Lulu a pointed look. I think she can see my plead with her not to bring up my mate.

"Friday works for me" Alex says. "I will text Nate later and see if he's game".

"Friday! It's a date!" Olivia says excitedly. "Leah your going to look so hot! Every unmated male will...." thank the goddess she was cut off by the bell.

"English!" I say with a little too much enthusiasm. "Let's go Alex, Rose. Bye Lulu see you in chemistry" and I quickly get up and practically run out of the lunchroom with Alex and Rose behind me. When we sit down in English Rose whispers, "nice save" and we both start to giggle.

Although Rose hasn't always been a part of our pack she fit like a glove when she wandered onto our territory. Normally rogue wolves are not welcomed in our pack but my dad had a soft spot for the 14 year old girl who lost her family. So Rose stayed in the pack house with us. I was thankful for Rose. She is quiet but is not afraid to stand up for people. She is an excellent fighter, and she is a little more subtle than Olivia.

Alex is staring at you again Akita says in my head. I inwardly groan but I do not dare look. I know she is right.

Kiki quiet down! I cant pay attention with you jabbering in my head. then after a long pause I ask, do you think He's our mate?

Akita barks slightly, sounding like a laugh. Who is jabbering now she says with a glint in her eye. But no Leah, I don't think he is our mate.

I think about it for a minute and sigh. He is going to be heartbroken.

This time Akita stays quiet.

Later after school, Olivia, Alex, Rose and I all climb into the packs black SUV. We go to a human school about 30 minutes from the pack territory. It's a long drive but Alpha thought it was best for us to learn about life outside the pack as well. A warrior from the pack always drives us to and from school just in case there happened to be an attack. I am the daughter of the Alpha after all.

"Where was Nate today?" I asked Alex.

"Said his mom had an emergency and he had to stay home" Alex says quietly. If it wasn't for my super wolf hearing I might not have heard him. Nate's dad had died in a fight against a Rogue group a few months ago. It was a sensitive subject, especially after we found out it was Rose's brother leading the attack. She had no idea he was alive and she felt awful every time she looked at Nate. Nathan's mom had also had a lot of emergencies lately. Losing your mate can drive you crazy and lead you to do unimaginable things. Lisa was not handling losing her husband well.

Nobody blamed Rose for what had happened. Nobody except Rose. After the battle she had gone straight to my dad sobbing. A few seconds later my mom, Owen, Beta Brian and future beta Liam (Owen's best friend) all joined Rose and my dad. No one ever found out what happened in that office but Rose came out and didn't speak to anyone for 2 days. She has been trying to make it up to Nate and Lisa ever since.

Trying to change the subject I reach over and squeeze Rose's hand and ask " are we all still on for the football game Friday night?" When the packs decided to play a competitive sport, everyone shows up. We don't get to play games often, so when we get the chance to challenge another pack, it's on. And the parties are always the best.

Alex takes the hint and says "as long as there is a good after party to go to!"

Rose gives me a small smile. 'Thanks' she mouths at me. I give her a reassuring smile and we all talk about the game Friday the rest of the way home.

When we get to the pack house I went to the Alpha house behind the pack house and changed clothes for training. I put on a black sports bra and black leggings and then my training shoes and headed down to the practice feild. Jake was already there getting things in order for the day. "Hey Jake! Where is Owen?" I ask him.

Jake grabs me in a bear hug and gives me s huge smile. "Hey little sis. Owen and Liam had to head out of town today. Said something about a pack in Oregon that needed some help. They should be back by Friday. They wouldn't dare miss the game"

"Gotcha. Well can I help with anything?" I ask him honestly.

"Auctully yeah" he says with a sly smile. "your going to be my partner today."

Thankfully I have fought and wrestled my brothers my whole life. Today was no different. Jake is huge. When he gets into a fight he will hurt if you allow him to. Thankfully I am fast and we were pretty evenly matched. Too soon practice was over and I needed to get home before dinner to do some homework.

I eat dinner at the pack house with my family and the rest of the pack. The beta family lives in one wing, right now it is only Liam because Beta Brian has retired. The rest of the packhouse is for warriors, orphans like Rose, and visitors. The Alpha house is right behind the pack house and right now we all still live there because Owen hasn't kicked us out yet. Owen is now the Alpha of our pack but my dad continues to help with some things. He says he's not ready to retire.

Too quickly dinner is over and I help clean up. I look over at Jake who is talking to a pretty brown haired girl. Her name is Lilly and she's 2 years older than me. I decide not to bother them and head to the training facilities close by. This is pretty much normal routine. After dinner I always work out again, lifting weights or working on techniques with Jake. Sometimes Owen or Liam join me when they are home. There is a slight ache in my chest as I think about them leaving without saying goodbye but I Quickly push it away and continue my work out.
