Chapter 2

The rest of the week goes by uneventful with the same routine. Go to school, go home, training, homework, dinner, work out, go to bed, then repeat. Nate finally came back to school, which was a relief for all of us. We were all just anxiously waiting for Friday to come.

Finally Friday came and at lunch we couldn't hold our excitement anymore. Lulu kept gushing about the hot guys coming from our neighboring pack, Sun River. Rose and I just continue to laugh but the talk about hot guys peaked Akita's intrest and she started getting excited also.

"Lulu now you have Akita all wound up thank you" I say in a low voice so only pack members can hear. "Can we change the subject please".

Nate laughs and Alex gives me a playful look. "Whats wrong Lea? you don't want to talk about finding your mate?"

"Do you want to talk about me finding my mate" I ask with my eyebrows raised. He turns a little pink right as Brad walks up.to our table.

"Hey guys" he says giving us a sideways smile. his eyes look me up and down and he slightly licks his lips. "Leah what are you doing later? I heard there is going to be an awesome party at Luke's tonight" his eyes are glued to my chest.

I feel Alex growing tense beside me and I smile sweetly at Brad. "Hi Brad. Actually I have plans with my brothers tonight. But maybe another time?"

His smile falters a little but he holds his head a little higher, "yeah, next time" he says and shoots me a wink.

Olivia and Rose start giggling relentlessly and Alex almost growls, "I don't know why you continue to give him hope for a next time."

"I just cant crush his dreams yet Alex" and thankfully I am saved by the bell a second time this week and we all head to class.

After school we all get into the SUV and head to the mall. We didn't have training today because of the football game later so we decided to hit the mall right after class. Zane was our driver today and he seemed excited to get out for a little while also. "Brad didn't seem to upset by your rejection today" Rose said smiling at me. "He and Brittany were already talking about the best places to hook up at Luke's house during 7th period".

Alex snorts, "that guy is unbelievable".

I just shrug my shoulders and turn to Olivia. "okay Lulu. what are we looking for today?"

She gets a giddy look on her face and starts rambling about my color and what will look best on my body. I swear she named more colors than I knew existed in the 5 minutes it took to get to the mall.

Once we were there we went to a few stores not finding anything that pleased Olivia for my birthday. I did get some new athletic style shorts for training along with some cute crop tops and 2 new sports bras.

We had walked almost the whole mall when finally Olvia made a sound similar to a purr. I looked up and saw a silver sequence cocktail dress. She dragged me in and made me try it on. I walked out of the dressing room and Olivia started jumping up and down clapping. Alex almost dropped his drink and Nate and Rose just watched everyone laughing.

"Lea! That's it!!!!" Olivia cried out. Everyone else was just silent.

I turned to look in the mirror and my jaw hit the floor also. I looked stunning. The dress hit me at my mid thighs making my legs look even longer and Sexier than anything else I ever wear. The dress hugged my curves and made my chest poke out to show just enough cleavage without showing too much.

"I don't know Lu... Do you think it's too much?"

Akita answers my question first, I think mate is going to tear it off of you the second he sees you but she gives me an appreciative nod.

"No way! Your mate won't be able to hold himself back" Olvia says. Before anything else is said she she pushes me back into the dressing room to change.

Satisfied with the dress we all head out to the SUV and head home. Olivia is still buzzing about hairstyles and makeup almost the whole way home so I can just sit in silence with my thoughts.

What if we do meet our mate. What if we dont... both options terrify me a little bit and Akita just barks out a laugh.

Don't worry Lea. we will find out mate. I am sure of it! she says wagging her tail. But I can feel the tension in her body also. I also feel like she is keeping something from me.

Akita what are you hiding from me I ask hesitantly.

I see a twinkle in her eye but she doesn't respond.

We pull up to the packhouse and Zane let's us all out. "Thanks Zane!" I say giving him a big smile.

"No problem princess" he says with a wink. And he goes to park the car.

I start walking into the packhouse with Rose when a familiar scent hits me. "Owen!" I start running and quickly I see Owen and Liam standing in the living area of the packhouse. Liam turns to me first with a wide smile and Owen turns in just enough time to turn and catch me in his arms. "Leah!" he says enthusiasticly. He gives me a bear hug and then sets me down. I turn to Liam and hug him as well.

A low growl comes from Liam as he let's me go and Owen chuckles. Liam shoots him a glare but doesn't say anything. Before I can ask anything Owen asks, "your coming to the game tonight right?"

"You know I wouldn't miss it brother! I just need to get a workout in first" I said smiling at him.

"Lea I canceled workouts for today." Owen says almost disapproving. He is the least excited about me wanting to be a warrior.

"I know, I know. I just have to do a little bit but I promise I will be there and be ready! Have you seen Jake?"

Liam answers this time, "Jake just ran off with Lilly somewhere".

I let out a frustrated grown. "He left me for Lilly yesterday!" I turn to Owen with the best pouty face I can make.

"Sorry sis, I don't have time today " Owen gives me an apologetic look.

I put my head down but Liam grabs my chin. "I have some extra time today Lea. I can work with you for a little bit".

I feel my heart soar as I look up at Liam but Owen growls. "No man! you gotta keep your head in the game!"

"I said for a little bit" Liams says. "I will still be ready to devour Sun River. Besides, a warm up will be nice" he winks at me.

"Yeah Owen! I promise not to hurt him too bad before the game!" and with that I kiss my brother on the cheek and smile at Liam "see you in 15" I yell over my shoulder and run to the Alpha house to get ready.

12 minutes later I am headed into the training area in a crop top sweater and black leggings. As I walk I see Liam already there and stretching out. I admire him as I walk up, he's wearing black athletic shorts and a black shirt. His muscles are tight against his shirt. His dark brown hair is messy like he's been running his hands through it and his grey/blue eyes look up into mine catching me check him out. Akita is wagging her tail and admiring Liam as well. He smirks "Hey Princess, are you ready for this?"

I don't train with him as much as I train with my brothers so this should be exciting. He looks me up and down and I feel heat rise up my neck. Akita is purring in my ear and I can't focus for a minute. "uhhh... y..yeah. I think so" I stammered.

I start to stretch my body out and ask Liam "what are we doing today?"

He chuckles and says "I came to help you Princess. You tell me what we are doing today."

"Well Friday we usually do hand to hand combat but you have a game later" I remind him.

"Leah I will be fine for the game today. Let's work hand to hand" he says with a sigh.

Without any warning I pounce on him but he is quick and strong and easily gets me off his back. We spar for about 10 minutes throwing punches, dodging and kicking. Finally I make my move and fake right and attack left. Without missing a beat he catches me and throws me on my back landing lightly on top of me, his mouth at my throat. "Your move doesn't work on someone who knows how you move Princess" he says in my ear.

His words send shivers down my body, and I let out a huff of frustration. "I almost had you" I growl. He just chuckles in response. Before he let me up I look into his eyes and they are dark. almost black. Almost reluctantly he gets off me and pulls me up.

"That's it for me Lea." He says. "I will see you at the game?"

"yes you will" Akita and I say together.

I lift some weights for about 10 more minutes trying to calm the nerves in my stomach. Liam looked so intense for a minute when he had me pinned down. and why was it effecting me this bad.

Akita rolls her eyes and says Maybe it's because he's gorgeous!

Yeah but he is Owen's best friend I answer her.

I decide I've had enough and I clean my equipment and head out the door to get ready for the game.
