Warrior Princess

Chapter 3

Liams POV

The rogues that had attacked our pack were causing problems at neighboring packs now. Owen and I had traveled to the Lunar pack to meet with some other Alphas and betas to come up with a plan. Unfortunately we had not reached an agreement on what we need to do. Meaning next week after everyone calmed down, we would meet again.

Owen and I were also in the middle of trying to get a pack settled in Oregon. The packs there had died out and most wolves had gone into hiding. Owen was trying to get another pack there to continue the Columbia pack lineage. This is what we were discussing when I smelled the sweet scent that troubles my dreams. Peaches and fresh fallen rain was the best way I could describe it.

My wolf Steal started going crazy trying to look around to find her. I turn just time to see her scream "Owen" and run to his arms. Steal growls but I try to keep him under control. Easy boy I say trying to calm our racing heart. She doesn't know.

She should be running to us like that he growls.

She doesn't know.. I repeat. besides, Owen is her brother.

Mine is his only response to that. But he settles down and she turns to me giving me a warm hug as well. Her scent is getting stronger and the need to hold her and make her mine is stronger every time I see her. As I release her from my arms Steal growls I can't even try to hide it. Owen gives me an amused look and all I can do I glare at him.

Owen asks her, "your coming to the game tonight right?" A few years ago Owen started challenging neighboring packs and packs we have alliances with to compete at different games with us. He said it would bring us all together and help us understand each other more. I think he just missed being competitive now that he was a boring Alpha. At first other packs were weary, trying to figure out what this new alpha was trying to do. Eventually most of them came around and now it's a big event for our packs. We play a game, football, volleyball, soccer, sometimes the girls get involved when they want to. When it's soccer or volleyball the girls usually make their own team and we have 2 events. It's usually a whole weekend ordeal. After the last game we throw a party. Both packs come together and we celebrate, have fun, and get to relax a little.

"You know I wouldn't miss it brother! I just need to get a workout in first" she said smiling at Owen.

"Leah I canceled workouts for today." Owen says almost disapproving. He is not fond of how much she works out and her desire to become a warrior. I am not a fan of it either, but I can't deny shes one of the best fighters we have.

"I know, I know. I just have to do a little bit but I promise I will be there and be ready! Have you seen Jake?"

I answers this time, "Jake just ran off with Lilly somewhere".

Her eyes glow in frustration. "He left me for Lilly yesterday!" She turns to Owen with the most beautiful pouty face and my heart nearly shatters. Man she's good.

"Sorry sis, I don't have time today " Owen gives her an apologetic look.

She puts her head down in defeat and I swear I feel my heart break. "I have some extra time today Lea. I can work with you for a little bit".

Owen growls at me. "No man! you gotta keep your head in the game!"

"I said for a little bit" i say calmly. "I will still be ready to devour Sun River. Besides, a warm up will be nice" I shoot Leah a playful wink. And I can't help but think about the time I will have her alone.

"Yeah Owen! I promise not to hurt him too bad before the game" she reached up and gives Owen a kiss on the cheek and runs out. "see you in 15" she yells at me.

"it's getting harder isn't it?" Owen asked me quietly as I'm staring after her. I really don't know what to say to him so I just turn and head to my living quarters to get ready. I live in the Beta quarters alone. My dad retired and him and mom got a little house on the outskirts of the pack. I was their only child so they didn't have much to do when I became Beta. Dad still helps out in the pack house and gives guidance as an elder. Mom goes around the pack town helping anyone who needs it.

Owen is the only person who knows that I am mated to Leah. When I turned 17 I couldn't help the pull I had toward her. I constantly just needed to keep her safe. I tried to fight it for a long time and it would drive Steal crazy. He just needed to know she was safe. After months of my constant annoyance, Owen figured it out. I thought he was going to kill me and honestly I kind of wanted him to. Leah was his baby sister. She was the center of joy and love in their family. After he came to terms with it he made me swear not to tell anyone. Not even Leah. Turning 17 and meeting your mate was suppose to be magical and exciting, especially for for girls, he didn't want that ruined for her.

8 minutes later I am in the training area stretching out my sore body. Traveling so much is taking its toll on me. And the lack of sleep I have when I'm away from a certain beautiful blonde.

I hear her come in and turn to her with a smile. At first I'm caught off guard, she looks amazing in her burgundy crop top sweater and leggings. she has an amazing body. I quickly compose myself and say "Hey Princess, are you ready for this?" Then I notice she's checking me out as her icy blue eyes look me up and down. I cant help the smirk that comes to my face.

"uhhh... y..yeah. I think so" she stammered caught off guard by my stare. God her body is killer. Steal stays quiet but he's watching her also.

Leah starts to stretch not noticing that I can't take my eyes off her. She is delicious and her smell is surrounding me. "what are we doing today?" She asks me softly.

I cant help but laugh, "I came to help you Princess. You tell me what we are doing today."

"Well Friday we usually do hand to hand combat but you have a game later" she says and I feel my stomach clench. That requires getting close to her and the way she smells, I'm not sure I can control myself and Steal. Maybe this was a bad idea.

"Leah I will be fine for the game today. Let's work hand to hand" I say with a sigh. This is going to be the longest quick workout ever.

We begin to spar and after traveling so much and not getting good work outs in, she's about to beat me. After almost 20 minutes of continued movement I see her try to make her move. I've been studying Leah for years, watching her every move, watching her train, so I know her move. I'm ready. When she tries to fake me out, I grab her, trip her up and land on top of her. I act like in going to rip out her throat and put my mouth by her throat. Steal begins to go crazy in my head Mate! Mate! Mark my mate! he tries to come forward as I breath her in. I can hear her frustration and when I look at her she is chewing her bottom lip.

"I almost had you" she growls at me. I can only laugh, not trusting myself to speak yet. She just smells so good! I reluctantly get up and step away from her before we do something I will regret.

"That's it for me Leah. I'll see you at the game?" even though I know the answer I just want the reassurance. She nods and I head out to the practice fields. I jog straight to Owen where everyone is gathering together for pregame warm up.

We warm up and get moving. There are a lot of guys here ready to play. We ran through a few plays and get ready when Sun River shows up. Alpha Zack was our friend in high school so Sun River is always a huge competition but a huge party later. Alpha Zack walked over to me and I bow my head to him as a sign of respect.

Alpha Zack smiles and then attacks me in a huge hug laughing "Hey man! How's it going" he says enthusiasticly.

I smile back laughing. "oh its going. How are you and the new bride".

Zack gets a dreamy look in his eye. "Ellie is great. Were great" Zack had recently met Ellie on one of trips visiting other packs about the rogue problem. They have been inseparable ever since. "You still haven't found your mate huh?" Zack gives me a questioning look.

Thankfully Owen and Jake chose that time to run over and say hi to Zack. As they are talking I catch Leah's scent. I start looking around for her when I see a few Sun River guys taking too her, Olivia, Rose and Chloe. I feel Steal getting angry and restless.

"Time to start" I interrupt Owen a little too harshly.

Owen looks in the direction I am and sees the guys trying to hit on Leah. "okay" he chuckles slightly. "Let's start. "

Zack and Owen shake hands and go to gather their teams. Before long the game is started. Through out the game I can hear Leah cheering for Owen and Jake but when I hear her start cheering for Alex I can't control Steal from slipping out a little. He decides it's time to step up and get Leah to cheer for us.
