Maya took a deep breath, not daring to open her eyes. She felt the room still tilting around her, and at once cursed herself for drinking so much. She remembered everything that happened, right until the mugger struck her. She knew she should be terrified. She had been knocked unconscious, and could now feel the hard pressure of a mattress beneath her. But she found it hard to panic when the surrounding air was flooded with an aroma she hadn't smelled for too long, the crisp freshness of snow and winter winds. Raiden's scent followed her from her dream, a dream in which they were intertwined in a dance of temptation. To open her eyes would be to release that final wisp of happiness.
