Who is Brielle Hansen

1594 Words
Kristians POV: 'Mate.' My wolf Loki growls as soon as I smelled her. Then my eyes found her. Her fair skin, her stormy eyes, and her curvy delicate frame. She is breathtaking. 'Why doesn't she feel our bond? She should have had her first shift at 18 like the rest of us?' Loki inquires in my head. The ride to her house was an interesting one, to say the least. Her scent tells me she's from a strong bloodline and her dream clears things up for me in an instant. My mate's wolf is trapped behind a magical mental block. When I looked into her mind I saw the poor pup, locked away and in pain. She needs to combine with Brielle soon, before it's too late. 'Why would someone put a block in her mind?' I feel Loki's anger growing. I can't blame him for it either. Unless I can break the cage in her mind, Brielle may never realize our bond. I ponder how the Little Wolf will feel discovering not only her history. As well as the fact that, as my mate, she is the Luna of the Shadow Moon pack. I shift into my wolf form as soon as I hit the edge of the forest. I need to get in touch with my Beta and best friend, "Logan respond." "Yes Alpha?" His voice rings through my head. "I've found my mate. The only problem is she has no idea who she is, let alone who I am. I intend to help her find out. I need you to find me everything you can on the adoption of Brielle Hansen. When and where it happened. Anything you can dig up concerning her. Also, consult with the healer and see what she says about removing a mental block. Logan, I'm sure I don't have to stress the urgency of this task?" "Not at all, Alpha. I'll have every able-bodied wolf doing research, and I'll get back ince there's something substantial." Logan pauses, "Congrats on finding your Luna man. We'll get it sorted out. I closed the connection and let Loki run. We run until the moon is high in the sky. My internal clock says it's about midnight. Loki stops at a stream and grabs a drink before turning and heading home. Despite the hours-long run, Loki shows no signs of tiring. We made it to the alley behind my new temporary house. I shift back and lift the mat in front of my back door. I enter the house and throw on the clothes I'd set by the back door. This house is nice enough, I suppose. Logan had chosen it for its month-to-month lease and the fact that the back door literally linked to the woods, which limits exposure risks. It's too big for just me though. After my parents' death,I moved all of my higher ranking officers and their families into my pack-house. I've never been a fan of traveling alone, but this mission required a solo endeavor. Loki caught a scent of our mate months ago, he led me here. He lead me to her. Ah, Brielle, her name even sounds like royalty. She'll make an amazing Luna. I lay in bed and contemplated my current scenario. Until I can get the block removed from her mind, the whole 'you're not only a wolf but, as my mate, you're basically also a queen' conversation is going to sound insane. I took a minute to resent the way humanity has made a mockery of our heritage. 'Why would someone lock up her wolf? Was it some form of wolfy witness protection?' Loki inquires. I exhale exasperated, the more I think about it the more questions I have. I promised Brielle answers, and that's exactly what she'd get. 'Did you see the way she looked at us? Or the way her heart beat like a hummingbird? Our mate might not know who she is, but she knows she's ours.' Loki mutters sleepily. This thought brings a smile to my face and I drift into R.E.M. sleep. I wake up to my phone vibrating on my nightstand. Without opening my eyes, I knew it was Logan. He's the only one ballsy enough to wake me up at 3 am. The video call illuminates my face aggressively," Hello Logan." I say, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. " Hey Alpha, we've found something, a lot of something." He says eagerly. I bolt upright," Tell me everything." "Well, like I said, it's alot. So, being the amazing Beta I am, Ive emailed you everything so we can go over it together." I chuckle, this is why I made Logan my Beta. As my best friend since we were pups, he really thought just like me. I pulled up my computer and found the file attachments. I start perusing and talking out loud. " So she's from Washington originally. Her adoptive parents are Dawn and Jack Hansen. Oh, the car accident. Wait a minute, now this doesn't make any sense." I looked at the report. The accident had happened shortly after her first birthday. It was a harmless little bump. The only reason it was even reported was because the mayor's driver hit them," This is the only report of an accident you found?" "Yes Alpha, honestly we can't seem to pinpoint how or when she ended up at the adoption agency in the first place. I continue to scroll through the information. She's an impressive woman. Honor roll and valedictorian in high school. She got half of her tuition covered by an academic scholarship. The next page is her original birth certificate," Faelan? Like the Harvest Moon Faelans?" I questioned. "It seems so Alpha. I sent Jake to bring word to Alpha Travis. Alpha?" Logan pauses. "Yes?" " We all heard stories years ago about pups being napped by rogues from their homes and sold to the highest bidder. I thought it might have just been a story to keep us in line. Do you think its true? That might be the case for the Luna?" "It seems like its leaning that way, let's wait to hear from Travis. Did the healer have any advice on how to break the block?" "Yeah, if you scroll over two pages there is an elixir that should do the trick. She said, depending on the strength of the hybrid who placed it, you might need something else, but start with this." I scroll through the ingredients and ritual," Fantastic, are we sure I can make it strong enough? I'm not a healer." " That may be true but Alpha, she's your mate. Infuse it with three drops of your blood, and it will be plenty to break her wolf out of its confines. It'll likely take a while for everything to come back, but she'll feel a difference pretty quickly. "Thanks man, you've done better than I could've asked. Let me know when you hear from Travis, okay?" "Absolutely have a good night man." He throws up a peace sign and bows his head. It's his way of being a home while maintaining respect. My dad was all about appearance, and that one appeased him without making us feel weird. I hop out of my bed buzzing with the information I'd received. I chuckle to myself as I get a bag together. Brielle Faelan. The irony of the nickname that fell out of my mouth concerning her. The origin of her name is Irish. It literally translates to Little Wolf. 'We're getting our mate back!' Loki bounces excitedly in my head. It's almost painful for us to know who she is but unable to complete the connection. When we connect with our wolves at eighteen, the moon goddess instills a beacon of sorts in our wolves in which to find our mate. It's only four am, but I head out to let Loki find the herbs we need; vervain, lavender, tumeric and sage. Stirred with a charged amethyst crystal for 10 minutes, three drops of my blood. I've done very little blood magic. My dad made a point to get us a tutor of all things hybrid related. As an Alpha family, we have access to everything the hybrids do, just not as strong. The hybrid who infected my mate with the block was the one who joined the rogues. Rogues were misfits and thieves and made it a point to weaken any pack they could. Stealing pups, poisoning guards, they'd even found a way to manipulate the silver in the ground. They're able to shoot it at such a high velocity that it's like millions of needles-like bullets, piercing anything in its wake. That's actually how I became the Alpha at 21. Rogues made their way into my family's home where my sick mother lies. They carved her heart from her chest. My father had been on patrol. He felt it the moment her heart stopped. He'd never moved so fast. He caught their fleeing scent outside his house and he took off after them. He'd made it 200 yards away in no time flat. He was calling out the fallen to us as we rushed to join him. One... two... three. Then I feel the connection severe. I knew my father was gone. The last rogue was a hybrid and my father's wolf was too weak to regenerate after the loss of his mate. I shake off the dark memories as i finish stirring what I hope to awaken my Luna. "It's perfect."
