32 Kira hustled toward the front door in response to the doorbell. Hathor followed, trotting at her heels. Although she was unused to having a pet again after so long, Kira had to admit it was nice to have Hathor curled up on the bed beside her when nightmares of torture woke her up in the middle of the night. She opened the front door to find Nick waiting. She was finally going to repay her debt to him with a leisurely lunch. “Hi,” he said with a smile. “I didn’t know you had a cat.” Hathor was poking her nose out the door with a curious sniff.
