“It’s about time,” Kira muttered as she climbed into Trevor’s car the next morning. “Why couldn’t we leave any earlier?”
“OK, first of all, it’s only nine o’clock in the morning,” Trevor said, rolling his eyes. “And second, you needed to get some rest. You were in a car accident yesterday. Besides, we have the brooch, and my uncle isn’t going anywhere.”
“Yeah, well my sleep would have been a lot better if I hadn’t been woken up constantly,” Kira griped. She was feeling tired and out of sorts.
“You know those were the doctor’s orders. And I doubt Rob liked it any better than you. He had to leave his lair of soiled laundry. I mean, if you were a dude, he might be more interested...”
