Kira tried to extricate herself from her opponent’s pummeling fists, but he pulled her back in. He gave a smug smile as he looked down at her and she struggled not to lose herself in panic.

She forced herself to regroup now that her plan had failed. She couldn’t lose now—not after everything she had been through. She clenched her teeth and lashed out with the hand holding the Taser, reaching up to slam it against the side of Tall Guy’s head. Even without power, it was still sturdy enough be used as a blunt weapon. He grunted as she made impact, his eyes unfocusing for a moment before glaring at her. His arms traveled upward from her ribs and past her shoulders so his large hands could wrap around her throat. She sucked in a breath before he began to squeeze.
