It was my first case.
Alena Smith was going inside the prison with a soft smile was playing on her lips. Dressed in a formal white shirt and black pant hanged her black blazer in her forearm paried with a shinny black shoes. her waist length, jet-black hair was tied in a low ponytail.
"Here." She handed a police guard a pair of papers. the guard had recorded the information in his records about the visit.
"second room from the last." he signalled her the direction.
"Thank you." He nodded his head.
There was a black metallic board beside the room with the name and rank of the officer in the shinny letters. she knocked on the door twice and in a few seconds she heard a come in a polite tone.
"good morning, how can I assist you?" the officer tone was politely.
"good morning." she forwarded him a set of papers in his hand.
"every month a attorney would advise him to settle it down with compensation he would say "I don't want to commit another sin." nor he doesn't want anybody to fight behalf of him."
"Excellent, He could release on the bail if it goes well." the chief was
"the boy is imprisoned since two years and nobody from his family came to visit him but they send a attorney behalf of them."
“Her mother died when he was seventeen.”
"Sorry to hear."
“How are you related to him?”
“A friend.”she replied meekly.
“Why hadn't you visited him once?”
“He wouldn't meet me even if I had visited him daily.” her voice was heavy and low.
"you still want to meet him?"
"I need to meet him to dispose the case."
"If you insist to meet him. follow me." she followed behind him.
they walked more further. the officer opened one of the door. the room was coloured in plain white with a minimal furniture. A man sat on the another side of chair crossed his long legs over another reading the book. He was dressed in the causal outfit instead of the prison outfit.
"Mr. kingth. A attorney want to talk to you" the man's attention was still on the book.
"Don't mind his rude behavior. he is good but little stubborn. I hope you succeed to compel to accept." The chief said without minding his lack of interest and walked away.
"I know you would definitely read this book."
the book from his hand fall on the ground and he stood up from his position.
“you shouldn't had come here to meet me.” he said, shaking his head.
"Aren't you aware how many difficulties I had faced to send you a book on a release date with an author autograph on front of the book." she picked the book from ground and placed it on table.
"You had grown three inches." the corner of her eyes get moisture.
"Just… leave."His voice was firgile, almost inaudible.
“how dare you left me by leaving a small note." her voice started off sharp, but it cracked at end. she grabbed the collar of his shirt while he had wiped her tears.
she couldn’t tolerate and hugged him. he forward his hands to hug but backoff.
"Please."he said straight and stern but his tears were verge to spill out from his eyes, he is trying desperately to hide it and close his eyes.
"You should had waited until I get my conscious." still her voice was cracked and caught in her throat and before alena knew she was sobbing hidding her face in his chest.
"Al." his voice was heavy like his burden—he hugged her rested his head on hers creasing her back to clam her down.
"The visiting hours... Oh sorry." the chief interpted them. she broke the hug and wiped her tears.
"Here sign it." she sat beside him.
"Did you took.."
"please Believe me." he pleaded her before she complete her sentence.
"Than prove me." she handed him a pen to sign the papers.
"Just a three millions."
"I wouldn't mind if you transfer entire property."
"Are you sure?"
"I would never regret fighting behalf of you." his grey eyes was still searching for any sign of regret.
"should I kneel infront of you and beg you" he lifted a pen from the table and his hands started to shake. she placed her hand on his shoulder.
"should I sign behalf of you." she rised her eyebrow. He shook his head in disbelief.
"No, Thanks." In their childhood she had forged his signature numerous times with and without his knowledge.
"It's eleven O'clock the visiting hours had finished for this week." A guard came in the room to take him back.
"In two days you would get temporay bail sam."
"who had filed a petition without my permission heck without even consulting me" "Who else do you think." she raised her shirt collar and he smacked her from back.
"you had gone mad. Do you know what it means fighting behalf of me in court."
"I get it but I know you would never lie to me."
"hey, listen wont you wish all the best. it's my first case." She waved him a goodbye when he simply left without even glacing back.
"You had achieved something impossible today."
"was it your first case."
"I had graduated this year."
"If you don't mind can I ask you something"
"sure, go ahead."
"What type of regret he was saying."
"The person who died in the accident was my mother." she bit her lower lip until she taste her own blood.
"I gotta go. I have a important meeting with client." she walked away from there hurriedly.
