Chapter 15

1031 Words
7 years later, Pedro wakes up to the sounds of someone beating on his door. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! More of a loud knocking than a booming sound. In a panic, he wakes up and runs to the door. As soon as he looks out the window, he sees what's happening. FBI! someone shouts out at the top of his lungs. His cousin stands there with that look on his face as soon as he sees him peek out the window. Holy crap yo! He opens the door with panicked excitement, followed by a loving embrace. What are you thinking? Pedro shouts. Are you trying to give me a heart attack? Pablo couldn't help but laugh louder and louder at the facial expressions that Pedro showed. Pedro asks with excitement and his face says it all. They both were instantly aware of the inner nature of the ones they once knew as children and discovered they were still children at heart. They hadn't laughed like that in a long time. They settle down after that kind of excitement and have a morning seat at the counter. Coffee? he asks as he retrieves his cousin's cup. He didn't have much time to respond before the cup was placed there before him. It was all fine and dandy for him because he enjoyed coffee and didn't have the patience or the desire to stop by the store this morning, he says. Traffic complaints along with other reasons. However, primarily he wanted to get to where he knew he was welcome and he thought there he could enjoy those benefits, and know it he was right. As soon as he saw his face with his huge smile, he instantly felt at home. After a short while, the inside scene was too much to bear for them, so they find themselves outside on the porch. The squeaky peddle of a passerby cyclist could be heard as they peddled past the house on the sidewalk, and every now and again the squeaky breaks of an old clunker could be heard as the driver applied pressure to the breaks as they approached the four-way intersection just up the street. The distinct sounds of sipping hot coffee could be heard as they placed the cup up against their lips. Sip after sip, they enjoyed the delicious coffee. The plan was so obvious to both of them. Hang out and enjoy the morning and maybe later on in the evening they could go have a good evening together. It has been years since they had the opportunity to catch up and they haven't had the opportunity to catch up the way they wanted to since freedom kicked in. They had always been happy to live life but they only just recently had the opportunity to express and to contribute to the success of their other family members. The others being the distant ones they couldn't reach financially from their childhoods. Their tides were finally contributing to their success and this dynamic fueled their own, which, of course, is a good thing. Another sip of coffee begins to sound like the pressure being released from a carbonated beverage. The simple sounds that a man makes as he sips his coffee, hoping not to burn his lips. WOW! Your cups need a warning label, my friend, as Pablo sips his hot coffee. Pedro responded with an equal-like sense of humor. You already know coffee is hot, so there is no need to sip it too fast or suggest a warning label. They both laugh out loud. Echoing up and down the hall is the sounds of the two of them having the time of their lives as they catch up on the things that matter the most to both of them in life. It wasn't long before their coffee was completed, or rather, their morning session was completed and they were planning a whole new adventure for the day. No specific destination was on their minds, only the idea of venturing out into the world. A freedom mindframe and a whole new way of looking at the world. Their life was a lot more vibrant and there was a whole world full of the things they desired. No time to waste, getting on with their life was the plan for the rest of their lives. The connections with their daily lives have not changed, only developing further into security. Seven years was a long time, emotion from the past influencing the family from within was not a problem. No past what if's to destroy development that was building. The evening came quickly and the gentlemen found themselves out on the town once more. They were throwing a party downtown and neither one of them had gotten the invitation or even knew until they made it into the city. They took a water view to rest at for the evening after they finally found somewhere to park. The streets were full of people coming and going and the sun was starting to set. So the sky hosted dark blues, oranges and a shade of bluish pink, just as the sun began to settle into the horizon. There was nothing to fear in this state of mind, only total bliss and happiness for their time and future together. They took some time to catch up once more, discussing family and long lost friends before they eventually decided to only express, for a few seconds, their political perspective before they emersed themselves back into the festival that was taking place. Consummed in total bliss and peace, they place an order as a waitress makes her way to them. Suprised, neither one of them realized they were actually sitting at the host table. A small business front just right down the shore. They take a moment to order some food and some drinks as the sun continues to set. Growing brighter and brighter, illuminated by the lights of the festival and the sky growing darker and darker as the sun sits further beyond the event horizon. They sit for a moment in silence as they wait for their drinks and meal, in silence, happy and content.
