Blurb

To the world, she was a broken defect. To the traitors who slaughtered her family, she was a worthless slave. But to the cursed Lycan King, she is the only entity in the universe who can master his monstrous madness if her secret doesn't destroy them both first.

Valeria was born to rule. As the daughter of the Northern Alpha King, her future as the next Luna was concrete. But on the night of her coming-of-age ceremony, the unthinkable happens: her inner wolf fails to awaken. Branded a "wolfless defect" and publicly rejected by her traitorous fiancé, Torin, Valeria watches in horror as her entire family is systematically slaughtered in a brutal, blood-soaked coup. Spared only to suffer, she is sold by corrupt guards into the terrifying Lycan Kingdom of Duskwood. Here, King Kaelen rules with an iron fist, burdened by a violent, full-moon madness born from an ancient curse. Every month, a blood sacrifice is required to appease his beast. None have ever walked out of his chambers alive until Valeria. Possessing no wolf scent or fear footprint, Valeria faces the monster willingly, welcoming death. But instead of tearing her apart, her touch triggers a profound, ancient calm that completely suppresses the King's decades-long torment. Intrigued and possessive, King Kaelen claims the mysterious girl as his personal servant, throwing his entire court into a frenzy of political paranoia. While Valeria fights a silent war against the King’s lethal fiancée and corrupt military generals, her fierce younger sister, Nadia, has survived the coup. Armed with nothing but her father's warrior training and an unyielding belief that Valeria is alive, Nadia escapes across border lines, collapsing right into the arms of Commander Jax the King's ruthless right-hand man. Bound by military protocol but magnetically drawn to the fierce princess, Jax locks Nadia down as his personal servant, unaware that he is hiding the very key to Valeria's past. But the deadliest trap rests in the dark. Deep within a secret cavern, Valeria unlocks her true heritage: she is a forbidden, mixed-breed hybrid. Her father was a noble wolf, but her mother carried the pure, ancient Dragon bloodline the exact race whose apocalyptic fire orphaned King Kaelen and trapped the curse inside his soul. Valeria's blood is the only bridge that can permanently heal the King’s broken spirit, but his childhood trauma makes her his ultimate enemy. As the high court winter solstice banquet approaches and the Prime Minister prepares a violent shadow coup, the sisters are drawing closer to an explosive reunion. Valeria must play the submissive slave, hide her burning dragon mark, and out-strategize an entire empire before the fire inside her burns the kingdom to ash.

The Silence Of The Moon
The stone floors of the Packhouse of the Silver Ridge were freezing, but they were nothing compared to the ice settling in Valeria’s veins. It was the night of her nineteenth winter. The air inside the grand hall was thick with the rich scent of roasted pine, spiced wine, and the heavy, musky pheromones of hundreds of wolves gathered for her ascension. High above, the full moon cut through the massive glass dome of the ceiling, casting a sharp, silver spotlight directly onto the raised dais. Valeria stood at the center of that light. She wore a ceremonial gown of pure white silk, embroidered with the golden crest of the Alpha King. Her long dark hair fell in soft waves past her shoulders, framing a face that had been raised on reverence, luxury, and absolute certainty. Since the day she could walk, her future had been carved into the very foundation of this kingdom. She was the firstborn child of Alpha King Logan. She was the destined Luna of the northern territories. And tonight, she was to claim her inner wolf, solidifying the sacred mate bond with Torin, the son of the High Beta. Torin stood just three paces away from her. He was tall, broad-shouldered, with eyes the color of polished amber and a proud, confident smile. He wore the dark leather tunic of a warrior, his chest rising and falling with anticipation. The entire pack held its collective breath, waiting for the manifestation of the legendary Silver Ridge wolf lineage. "Accept the moon, my daughter," Alpha Logan’s voice boomed across the hall. He stood at the edge of the dais, his massive frame radiating absolute authority. Next to him, Valeria’s mother, Luna Elena, smiled with tearful pride. Valeria closed her eyes. She inhaled deeply, reaching inward, down into the deep, dark reservoir of her soul where the spirit of the wolf was supposed to sleep, waiting for the first touch of full adult moonlight. She called out to it. Awaken. Nothing happened. A cold prickle of unease touched her spine. Valeria squeezed her eyes shut tighter. She forced her mind deeper, clawing at her own spirit, searching for the spark, the growl, the sudden rush of feral heat that every nineteen-year-old felt during their ascension. She threw her mental doors wide open, inviting the silver light of the moon to ignite her blood. Silence. Absolute, hollow, suffocating silence. Ten seconds passed. Then thirty. The silence in her mind began to mirror the silence in the grand hall. Valeria opened her eyes, her breath catching in her throat. The heavy, golden warmth of the pack’s anticipation had curdled into a sharp, freezing tension. "Valeria?" Torin whispered, his amber eyes narrowing. He stepped closer, his nostrils flaring as he tried to catch the scent of her awakening wolf the unique, intoxicating pheromone that would trigger his own inner beast and lock their mate bond into place. He smelled nothing only the scent of a regular, fragile human. "I... I can’t find her," Valeria whispered, her voice trembling as she looked up at her father. "Father, there is nothing there. "A low murmur rippled through the crowd, rising like a wave of hornets. Alpha Logan’s face turned an ashen gray. He stepped forward, grabbing Valeria’s wrist. His powerful Alpha aura surged, a crushing weight of dominant energy designed to force a subordinate wolf to its knees or call an unawakened wolf to the surface. Valeria felt the immense physical pressure of her father’s power. It bruised her skin and compressed her lungs, but it found no wolf inside her to dominate. She was a hollow vessel. "It cannot be," Logan muttered, his grip loosening in sheer disbelief. "You are my blood. You are the future Luna." "She is wolfless," a voice sneered from the front row. It was a harsh, definitive statement that cut through the murmurs. Valeria looked down at Torin. The warmth in his amber eyes was entirely gone, replaced by a cold, calculating disgust. He took a deliberate step backward, removing himself from her space, shaking his head. "Torin?" Valeria reached out, her fingers brushing the leather of his sleeve. "Do not touch me," Torin snapped, his voice carrying across the silent hall. He raised his hands high, addressing the entire pack. "A Luna must be strong. A Luna must bear the heirs of the Alpha line. I, Torin of the Silver Ridge, reject you, Valeria. I sever the bond before it can even begin. You are no mate of mine. "The words felt like physical blows, cracking against her chest. In the world of the shifter, to be wolfless was to be a defect. To be rejected publicly was a social execution. Valeria stood frozen, her white silk gown suddenly feeling like a shroud, as hundreds of eyes turned away from her in shame, pity, and mockery. The humiliation, however, was merely the overture to a nightmare. Before Valeria could even process the crushing weight of Torin’s rejection, the heavy oak doors of the grand hall exploded inward. Splinters of wood screamed through the air, cutting down the guards standing watch. A horde of dark-cloaked wolves rushed into the room, their jaws dripping with saliva, their eyes glowing with a frenzied, unnatural red light. Rogue wolves. Dozens of them. "To arms!" Alpha Logan roared, his body instantly shifting into a massive, silver-furred wolf. He lunged off the dais, burying his fangs into the throat of the first intruder. The hall erupted into a chaotic symphony of violence. Screams echoed against the glass ceiling as blood splattered across the white tablecloths and the festive pine decorations. Valeria was thrown to the ground as the crowd panicked. She crawled backward, her hands slipping in warm, crimson pools, her heart hammering against her ribs like a trapped bird. Through the chaos, she saw her mother, Luna Elena, shifting to defend the younger pack members. But before Elena could strike, a silver blade cut through the air. It was Torin. He didn't target the rogue wolves. He lunged at Elena, driving a silver dagger deep into the neck of Valeria’s mother. The great wolf let out a choked, bubbling gasp and collapsed, her fur staining red as her life leaked onto the stone floor. "No!" Valeria screamed, but her voice was drowned out by the roar of battle. She watched in absolute horror as the truth unveiled itself. This wasn't an ambush by random rogues. This was a coup. Torin’s father, High Beta Thomas, walked calmly through the bloodbath, his claws out, guiding the rogue forces. Torin had never wanted Valeria for who she was; he had wanted the throne. Now that she was proven worthless, he had no reason to wait for a succession. Valeria scrambled toward the corner of the dais where her seven-year-old twin brothers, Leo and Oliver, were huddling in terror. They were too young to shift, crying out for their mother. "Leo! Oliver!" Valeria gasped, throwing her body over them, trying to shield them with her own flesh. A heavy boot slammed into her ribs, flipping her onto her back. The breath rushed out of her, leaving her gasping for air. She looked up into the cruel, triumphant face of Torin the man who, only moments ago, was supposed to be her protector, her partner, her fiancé. He stood over her, his dagger dripping with her mother’s blood. Behind him, two rogue wolves held her father down. Alpha Logan was battered, bleeding from a dozen wounds, his silver fur matted and torn. "Watch closely, wolfless princess," Torin whispered, his voice dripping with venom. "Watch what happens to a bloodline that breeds weakness. "Torin snapped his fingers. Two of his loyal pack warriors stepped forward. They tore the twin boys out of Valeria’s grasp. "Torin, please! Take the throne! Take everything!" Valeria begged, dragging herself forward on her knees, grabbing at his boots. "Leave them! They are just children! Please! "Torin didn't even look down at her. He gave a slight nod. The warriors moved with brutal, practiced efficiency. Two swift movements of silver blades. Valeria’s world narrowed down to the sound of two small, stifled gasps. Her little brothers went limp, their bright eyes turning glassy and vacant as they were dropped onto the stone like discarded rags. "No, no, no..." Valeria’s voice broke into a high, ragged keening sound. She crawled to them, pulling their small, cooling bodies into her lap, rocking back and forth as her mind threatened to splinter under the sheer magnitude of the agony. A loud, agonized howl tore from Alpha Logan as he saw his family slaughtered. But his grief was cut short. High Beta Thomas stepped behind the Alpha King and tore his throat out with a single, vicious swipe of his claws. The Alpha King was dead. The Luna was dead. The heirs were gone. Valeria sat in the center of the ruin of her entire life, her white dress completely soaked in the blood of her family. She looked up at Torin, her eyes empty, expecting the cold bite of his blade next. She welcomed it. She wanted to join them. Torin looked down at her, a twisted smile curling his lips. "Killing you would be too merciful, Valeria. You are a wolfless blank. You are nothing. You will live the rest of your miserable days knowing you were too weak to save a single soul you loved." He turned to the rogue guards, his voice hardening into absolute authority as the new, self-proclaimed ruler. "Take her to the dungeons. Put her in the deepest hole we have. Let her rot in the dark until I decide how to discard her corpse." The guards grabbed her bruised arms, tearing her away from the bodies of her family, and dragged her down into the damp, black abyss beneath the packhouse.
