Chapter 6

2396 Words
Hayden POV My wolf is restless knowing Amelia is alive, but we don’t know where. I think back on all the conversations we had, and it all makes sense. When I asked her if she was real, she said not really. Which I suppose was true. She was astral projecting, so she was here, but her actual body was wherever she was. I walk outside and head to the waterfall. It’s getting late and I know she will appear soon. It’s always been like clockwork, 7 pm and she would appear in front of me and as time went on it became more frequent. She started to show up throughout the day, but it would always be at 7 pm without fail. I lay the blanket down on the floor and wait. I glance up at the setting sun, thinking of my mate and how she loved to sit and watch the sunset and the moon rise with me. The wind carries the smell of food toward me. Pack members are getting ready to settle down with loved ones and enjoy a meal, but not me. My loved one is somewhere out of my reach. Chloe has been scrying nonstop for the last 24 hours, and so has Katalina. Nina has been trying incantations, reading tarot cards, and even tried looking into a crystal ball as a last resort. Milo mocked her when she set it up, saying she was being a typical gypsy and he spent the rest of the day groveling. We have stretched all our resources to the limits now to try to find her, but nothing has come from any of it. Jasmine and spearmint sails towards me and I inhale deeply. “I like it when you come here.” I turn around and it’s like an angel is standing before me. She has the glow of the sun framing her perfect figure, and it looks like she's surrounded by an orb. It’s like she has a saintly glow around her. The way the last rays of sunlight caught in her hair it made it look lustrous. It shone golden, and I just wanted to run my fingers through it. My heart beats rapidly in my chest. It feels like it’s about to burst with love. She was truly breathtaking. “Sit down here with me,” I ask, smiling at her. I reach up and pull her down into my arms. She sits beside me, but I hate the distance between us. I pull her toward me and sit her between my legs so I can wrap my arms around her. “Amelia, where are you?” I ask. She turns around to look at me. “I’m here with you.” I can’t help but chuckle at her answer. She’s always been a wiseass, and I have missed it so much. “Not your astral form. Where’s your real form, your real body? Where are you when you're not here with me?” She sits forward and turns to look at me over her shoulder. “I’m at home. But I wish I could be here with you.” She turned her body fully now, so we sat face to face. I couldn’t think of anything other than how close to me she was right now. How if I lean forward our lips would meet. I wish I could just wrap my arms around her and never let her go, but I can feel her anxiety through the bond. She’s also afraid. Her eyes kept looking down at my lips and I couldn't keep my eyes off hers. I have never wanted to taste something as much as I want to taste Amelia’s lips right now. She leaned forward and gently placed a soft kiss on my lips. It was like a butterfly fluttering its wings across my mouth. My eyes close and I pull her closer to my body, her hands rest against my chest as I gently push my tongue into her mouth. I hear her moan as my tongue swirls with hers. I suddenly feel cold as I fall forward slightly into the empty spot my majestic mate was just occupying. “Fück!” I sćrėam out in frustration. I hate that she just left before I could ask her anything else. She said she was at home. I shift and start running towards Amelia’s old house. The house in the town that she lived in with Lyn and Milo. The house she called home most of her life. The house on Rockhill lane. It’s dark inside. The outside has been well maintained, but the inside looks dead. I make my way to the back and shift, not caring that I’m naked and a human could possibly see me. “Amelia!” I shout as I run inside. The house feels cold. There’s no sign of life and no smells either. She’s not here. “Where are you, Amelia?” I say aloud. Frustration and rage run through my veins. Amelia keeps coming to me, but she can’t physically come to me, which makes me think she is being kept against her will. I punch the wall in frustration, making a large hole. “Shít.” I turn and slide down the wall, leaning my back against the coldness behind me. I’m sitting opposite the closet she was hiding in when I followed her home one night. She had called 9-1-1 and tried to swing at me with a baseball bat. “ARRRHHH!!!” I sćrėam, letting all the feelings of sadness and rage out in that one growl. The windows rattle and in the distance, I can hear my roar being answered by members of the pack. I stand up, looking at the hole I made and feeling píssed off with myself. I make a mental note to make sure I fix it. Amelia loved it here with her family and I destroyed it. I shift back into my wolf and head back home. But the hope is still blooming inside of me. I will find her and I will bring her back home to me, where she belongs. ••• The room is buzzing with activity. Everyone was here either trying to find Amelia or work out who the Alpha was helping Randall. When I find Amelia and bring her home, I want to make sure that the Alpha is no longer a threat to her anymore. He escaped us once and spelled his wolves to not utter his name or even write it down. Those who tried died. We ended up with 15 new wolves but six of them were killed either by a rogue or the spell to stop them from confessing the son of a bítches name, Chloe thinks she has narrowed it down to a few spells it could be and is currently working on them. None of the wolves captured that day spoke, either. The elders took them away as prisoners and are keeping them locked up as traitors at the Dragon isle correctional facility. “Zak that rogue from the other day. Did he look like one of the rogues helping Randall?” Zak looked at me and it was like I could see the clogs in his head turning. “Yeah, he did!” He growled. “Maybe a brother out for revenge.” Harper chirped in. I mean, that would make sense. “I will call and find out,” Nolan said, walking over and grabbing his phone off the desk. I really did have an amazing group of friends. Each one meant the world to me. “Chloe, you look tired. Come and rest for a bit.” I hear Alex. She shakes her head, her face determined. I know that look. I’ve seen it plenty of times. “No. I’m not leaving her out there, Alex. I’m bringing her home.” Love and pride swell in my chest hearing that Amelia means so much to everyone else. “So let’s think this out,” Mason says aloud whilst looking at a large whiteboard. I turn back to look at him. “She said home?” He looks at me and I nod my head. “She wasn’t at the house on Rockhill lane.” He looks at me again, so I shake my head. “She’s not here on the territory. Where else would she think was home?” “What about England?” My Mom says stepping towards the whiteboard, her eyes scanning it as she does. “Why England?” Zak asks. He has his arm firmly wrapped around Harper now, pulling her back close to his chest. I miss that so much. I hate not being able to hold Amelia and kiss her when I wanted. I miss the way she always manages to make me feel better, even now when she visits in her astral form. I just miss her. I squeeze my eyes shut and shake my head at the jealousy I’m feeling. I'm happy for Zak. He deserved this happiness, but I can’t help missing Amelia when I look at the other couples together. “Because she said she felt connected to Sam there. Maybe that’s where she is.” All eyes turn to Katalina, who nods her head and walks over to Mom. “Hayden, call Alpha Daniel and tell him we will be there in five minutes.” Mom shouts whilst showing Katalina on a map where we need to go. ••• “Alpha Daniel. I’m sorry to drop in on you like this.” “No, don't be silly Alpha Hayden. I told you, you come from here, you are always welcome. I’m sorry about Amelia. She was a… very special girl.” His eyes brim with tears as he talks of Amelia. When I hear her name now or think of her, I don’t feel sadness. I feel determined, determined to find her and bring her back home, back to where she belongs. Katalina obviously came with us, along with my Mom, Mason, Milo, and Nina. Zak is working on other leads with Harper and Logan, and Nolan, my dad, and Alex are leading the team on finding the Alpha. The fact he’s still out there makes my anger churn inside of me. The fact the elders don’t have a fücking clue is laughable. They are supposed to be all-knowing yet they know jack shít about this. I watch as Mom says hello to everyone. The snake Rhys isn’t here and I’m glad. The way I feel I would rip him apart and have no remorse. *Nina can’t feel her here* Milo informs me. I feel disappointed but glad that Alpha Daniel wasn’t keeping her here from me. I would hate to have to kill him. “Alpha don’t you have somewhere to be?” Katalina asked as she walked close beside me. I looked at my watch and smiled at the friendly witch. “Excuse me, I’m going to go for a walk to clear my head,” I said, breaking away from the group and making my way toward the beach. It truly was magnificent. Watching the ocean smashing into the sand. The waves hypnotize me. The sound is so peaceful and I find myself closing my eyes just listening to it. “I like this. Why haven’t you come here before?” A big smile fills my face. Hearing her voice. My eyes open up as I turn around and see her standing behind me, looking out at the sea. “I’ve been here before with someone very special.” Her eyes droop at the corners and the smile fades from her face. Shít I didn’t mean to upset her. Doesn’t she remember anything about her life? “She is very lucky indeed.” She mumbles as sits close to me, not close enough, though. I move along the sand so she is brushing against my skin now. “Do you not remember anything?” I ask curiously. She always acted surprised when I spoke of missing her and she acted as if she had never seen the places I was when she visited me in the past. “I had an accident and my memory isn’t what it used to be. Mother is helping me, though.” Fear flashed through my body hearing her say that. Someone was keeping her and telling her she was her daughter. “Your mother?” I asked. She chuckled and nodded her head. “Of course.” “Can you tell me about where you are from?” I turned, so I was facing her. I was keen to hear her answer. I needed to hear it. I needed her back with me. I took her hands in mine and looked into her beautiful blue eyes. “I can’t. It’s a secret.” She replied, her eyes shining with tears. “I wish I could tell you. I don’t know why, but I can’t stay away from you.” Her fingers reached up and traced the scar under my eye. My eyes closed, feeling her fingers tracing the scar left by that vampire. Tingles ran across my skin, making my breath catch in my throat. Her eyes shone with desire as she bit down on her lip. “I don’t want you to stay away from me. I want you by my side for all eternity. Can you tell me anything?” I leaned in closer, desperate to bite down on her lip myself. “I’m sorry. I wish I could. I’ve got to go. I can hear Kez coming.” My hands dropped to the sand as I stared at the void in front of me. “Kez,” I asked myself aloud. *She said Kez is coming.* I announced through the link to Mason, Milo, and my Mom. *Ok let’s head back then* Mason replied, eager to find his daughter. I was also eager. Amelia was definitely being kept somewhere, and she had no knowledge of her life. I was going to kill every single person responsible for keeping her from me. I made my way back to Katalina and the portal. I needed to find my mate before I burnt the world to the ground to find her.
