CHAPTER 6 The next day, probably due to overexcitement from having her first mission, or probably from wanting to meet Alpha Lucas, either way, she couldn’t get much sleep as she was anticipating how her day would go. She quickly had her bath and put on her black petticoats and tightened her corset on her body to fit slim but voluptuous figure. She took a basket with her and put in some first aid materials and other stuffs to help the Alpha treat his wounds. After which she ran to the castle’s kitchen and she found a prepared food meant for the rogue Alpha. She examined the food, out of curiosity and probably care, before carrying the whole thing to the dungeon. She was led by one of the guards and they reached the warm dark dungeons. The guard walked her through the passage of the dungeons. She looked at the various cells which surrounded her, each of which contained a criminal or two. She anxiously looked around as the various criminal reached out to her. They looked poorly taken care of and while many of them looked hungry for food or s*x. S9me even tried grabbing her but she was able to claw their filthy hands away. Nevertheless, they never stopped. “Come here honey…” one of them said. He was so thin and looked like he would die any minute from now. He reached out with his hands which had claws on them and a malicious smile on his face. The middle of his head was bald with the surrounding hair running down to his shoulders. Even those were starting to go away too, “…I don’t bite.” Aurora gave him a disdainful look before walking closely behind the guard. The guard reached a particular cell with iron door with a small view-through with iron bars on it at the top of the door. He looked through it and he saw a man inside, sitting cross legged on the ground. He then nodded and at the lady while he unlocked the door. There were two more big guards near the door, so if something funny wanted to happen, they would deal with it. Aurora nodded and although her face looked calm, she was everything but calm. Her heart was beating furiously and she seemed scared. The guard could hear her heartbeat and he scoffed. “First time here?” He inquired. Aurora nodded nervously, “Just get this over with. I’ve got something else to do so I can’t be waiting for two useless things. Finish fast.” He instructed coldly before opening the door. Aurora gulped hard and drooped her head before walking through the door. The guard closed the door behind her with a loud thud, making her to look back at the door. She sighed and looked at the motionless man sitting on the ground. She studied his appearance and apart from his dirty look, he was quite sturdy and looked ok. She stood there for a while, observing him but a voice suddenly alerted her and made her scared. “Are you just gonna stand there, or are you gonna do your task…” Lucas said with a calm but overbearing voice, “…Mate?” Aurora’s eyes widened as she heard the word ‘mate’ from him. However, that didn’t stop her from slowly walking to him and she put down both the food and basket. She took a bowl out of the basket and a small cloth which she dipped into the bowl now filled with hot water and hesitantly pressed it on Lucas’s wounds. She decided to start with his arms, which were bleeding and looked a bit swollen. Lucas didn’t flinch and he remained motionless which was a relief for Aurora. She made sure to avoid eye contact with him but this was unavoidable. After cleaning all the wounds on his body, and the bowl filled with warm water was now mixed with blood, she decided to clean the head but the moment she did, she made eye contact with Lucas. His brightly glowing yellow eyes met with hers and almost like a chain reaction was triggered, Aurora’s eyes also uncontrollably shone brightly blue. It was almost like a connection was being established between the two of them. The feeling she had when she first saw him was starting to return and she tried to stop it immediately. She quickly turned her eyes away and the blue eyes slowly returned to normal. Lucas didn’t mind and he kept looking at her with his cold eyes. She still treated his slightly swollen head and eyes and when she finished, she pushed his food to him. “What is your name?” He asked coldly, making Aurora stop for a second before resuming packing her things. She didn’t answer him for two reasons… she couldn’t speak, and she didn’t want to. “I asked for your name.” Lucas asked again, colder this time and his aura was released. As an Alpha, he exuded more pressure than any other wolf of the lower rank. Aurora being a Beta, naturally got scared and her hands began to shake on their own. She tried to look strong and she controlled them while facing him. Lucas tilted his head. “Ooh. Acting tough huh?” he uttered but with a swift movement, he grabbed her neck and drew her closer as he began to squeeze it, “I asked you, what… is… your… name?” Aurora tried to free her neck from his grip but Lucas was too powerful. She began to choke and used her claws to scratch Lucas’s hands but he wasn’t moving his hands off her neck. “I have experience pain far greater than the one you are giving me right now so why don’t you just answer the question and spare yourself this pain.” He said as he squeezed tighter. He looked at the guards at the door and saw that they were watching him through the see-through on the door, but they weren’t doing anything. ‘That’s weird. Why aren’t they attacking me?’ he questioned in his mind before looking at her. Although she was suffocating, no sort of moan came out from her mouth. He left her alone and she quickly backed away as she coughed vigorously. Her neck was tightly squeezed and she was trying to open up her air ways again. “Can’t you speak at all?” He inquired with a cold but confused tone. However, she didn’t respond to him. He saw this as disrespectfulness. Probably she was given the order not to say a word to him. He got up and wanted to confirm this. There were cuffs on his hands and legs, which were tied to chains but they didn’t hinder his movement over a certain distance. As he closed in on Aurora, she began to crawl backwards and she shook her head vigorously and gave hand signs. (I can’t speak. I can’t speak. I don’t have a voice.) Aurora quickly gestured to him. She wasn’t ready to die after all. Seeing this pitiful look on her face, Lucas spared her and went back to his original position before sitting back down. Aurora felt relieved as she held her bruised neck. She looked at Lucas with fear in her eyes now and she couldn’t help shudder. In her eyes, he looked like a devil. ‘He almost killed me! And I’m mated to a devil like him?!’ she thought in her mind. Meanwhile, Lucas frowned and gnashes his teeth. “Tsk. Can’t believe the moon goddess had to bless me with this dumb mate. Thank you very much.” He said sarcastically while he complained. The word ‘dumb mate’ really hit Aurora hard as she felt devastated. She solemnly looked the other way while she dropped pushed the food to Lucas before packing her things. Lucas sighed and looked at her with pity. In his mind, he was surprised as to why the guards didn’t come in to help her and stop him. ‘Those eyes on their faces… they were the same eyes…’ Lucas thought as he began to recall some bad memories. ‘…they weren’t looking at me…’ he then faced Aurora, who looked innocent, ‘…they were looking at her.’ With this, he began to feel pity for the girl in front of him. ‘Let me get to know her first.’ He thought.
