HAYLEY
“Yeah… Yes, just like that… f**k me harder!
“Oh, f**k! You are so tight!”
I scrunched my nose at the sensual noises coming from Cole’s room. Why would he allow his friend to f**k his w***e in his apartment on the night of our anniversary?
“Oh, yes! Right there.” The lady moaned again.
I closed my eyes, grimacing and wondering why the voice sounded too familiar. Strange.
“Yes, suck his c**k like the freaking w***e that you are!” Logan groaned. The sound of pounding and sucking echoed off the walls of his apartment. Cole’s best friend’s voice convinced me that indeed he was the one in the room.
But who was he talking about? Was Cole also inside the room?
That cannot be possible. Right?
I knew he would be so tired after the game they played and won tonight. I had been in the crowd and was trying to reach him to congratulate him but those puck bunnies wouldn’t just let me through. I even brought the gifts I had picked out specifically for him and well… for what I actually planned to do.
There were three things I planned to do tonight: Pop the champagne in the pack with me, celebrate our two-year anniversary as well as his win and also give him my V-card.
Pink blush stained my cheeks as the vivid imagination of Cole thrusting into me played in my mind. I got a pink lingerie because I remembered hearing one of those puck bunnies talk about he liked it. I wasn't oblivious to Cole’s playboy ways before he met me so I knew he must have f****d her.
I shook my head, clearing the fog. I needed to tell him to stop his friend coming doing this kind of thing at his house.
He has a freaking girlfriend for goodness’ sake!
Disgust churned inside of me as I reached for the door knob. “Cole, you need to stop—”
“f**k, Cole!” The lady inside screamed and I paused immediately.
Did I just hear Cole? That can’t be—
“f**k! That was great, Cole. I don't think I will be able to walk properly tomorrow to class. You've ruined me.” The girl let out a sultry hiss.
Cole?
The world began to spin and I clenched my fist, glaring daggers at the door.
“Dress up quickly,” Came my boyfriend’s unmistakable voice. The confirmation I didn't know I needed.
“What? You don't want your little girlfriend finding out you have never really been loyal to her? Afraid that she will know that you and I have been banging each other?”
I waited for him to deny it but what he did next shocked me. He chuckled darkly. No ounce of remorse in his response. “She should know better than to trust an hockey player like me.”
The lady scoffed. “Only good, understanding girls would make it their life mission to change bad boys. Poor girl.” She clicked her tongue.
Logan let out a small laugh as he said, “Do you think he is with her because he loves her? It was because of a stupid bet we made at a night party and the fool fell for it. That is why he is still stuck with her.”
That night. I remembered it vididly. I had gone there with Taylor to ease up the stress of the week when he had surprisingly walked up to me and asked for my contact. Days later, he asked me out and I accepted. Stupid of me.
What did I expect?
A wolf will always be a wolf. Even if he changes his skin.
Cole snorted. “Love, as they say, is blind, sweetheart. My little, whiny girlfriend is so in love with me that she can't see past the image of the person she has made of me in her mind. The perfect, loyal boyfriend.”
Tears peppered the edges of my eyes as my hands trembled.
The three of them laughed. I think that I have listened enough. I pushed the door open and their laughs seized as they all turned to me, shock fleeting through their faces.
They were all still naked, the guys’ d**k slung over their thighs as the b***h, I recognized her now. The head of the cheerleading group and the lady Cole had sworn he didn't like and could never ever f**k. Marie.
The package in my slipped to the ground, the pink lingerie spilling while the champagne shattered to the ground.
“Hay?” Cole’s shocked voice echoed through the silent room. Logan cleared his throat, standing up at the same time as the b***h, and he went into the room.
“Well, I will leave you guys to sort things out then.” The b***h had the guts to lean down to drop a peck on his cheek. She gave me a small smile as she walked past me, bumping into my shoulders deliberately.
I stumbled a bit, still keeping my eyes trained on Cole’s embarrassed face. “You didn't tell me you were coming tonight. I would have—”
Without saying anything, I turned on my feet and walked out.
“Hayley!” He yelled and I could hear him running after me. I fastened my footsteps, trying to keep the angry tears from sliding down my cheeks.
“Hayley,” His hand shot out and caught me before I crossed the pavement into the elevator. I twirled around to him and immediately landed two successive, hot slaps on his face.
“How dare you?!” I sneered at him.
He closed his eyes, holding his face as a muscle in his jaw ticked. Opening his eyes, he moved closer to me and I took a step back.
“Hayley, you need to calm down. You are just overreacting. The situation doesn't require you feeling like this.” He said with a patronizing voice.
Wasn't he trying to gaslight me right now?
“Overreacting?” I scoffed, watching him with disbelief. “I just caught you with—”
“Yes, Hayley. I know what you saw. We can always move past it. It happens all the time with other couples, you know. We just need to come together as adults and compromise. I believe we can survive this.” He moved closer to me. Every of the word he said felt like a punch to my guts.
“No, Cole. You don't get to pull this s**t on me! You—”
“Hayley, don't stop acting like a petulant child.” He cautioned. Just like he always did. When I wore a dress I love, he would tell me he didn't like it on me so I would change, all because I wanted to satisfy him. “You know all of these is your fault, right?” He asked, shocking me to the very core.
My brows furrowed together. “Really?”
“Those times when I would ask you for s*x and you would refuse me. How do you think I worked myself off? I can't keep using my hands to jerk off, Hayley, You were the reason I was sleeping with her! I was thoroughly s*x starved throughout the years we were together and after every game, I needed a p***y to f**k and you… you were always rejecting me!”
I closed my eyes, willing myself to be calm as I moved closer to him. “Look into my eyes and read my lips, you absolutely f*****g cheating bastard ass. You are nothing but self conceited bastard who thinks he is better than others but no. You are nothing. Have never been. Will never be! I regret giving you a chance!” I jerked my hand out of his hand and I turned to leave.
A scoff from him stopped me from moving. “Logan was right. You are just a selfish b***h. You were never worth my time. Nothing but a wasted effort.” He hissed with disgust in his gaze.
The elevator door opened and I stepped in, turning around to see him holding his junk as he glared daggers. I raised my hand up and flipped him the f**k off as the door closed completely.
Tears blurred my vision. I refused to let it fall, my fist clenched tight. The bastard didn't deserve my tears. Knocking the door with more force than intended, the doorknob twisted, revealing a shocked Taylor. “Hayley?”
I didn't say anything as I pushed the door wide and entered, dumping the stupid gifts I got for him on the floor before going into the kitchen to pick some alcohol or wine. I needed something strong to forget the sting of his betrayal.
“What happened?” Taylor followed me into the kitchen. “I thought you said you were going to surprise Cole. What went wrong?” She asked, leaning against the table. I paused, turning to her briefly.
“He surprised me instead.” I replied, keeping my voice from breaking.
Her brows creased together, her head c*****g to the side. “What do you mean by that? They won the game and you are supposed to be celebrating with him. It is your anniversary, right?”
Breathing heavily, I pulled a wine cup and poured some alcohol inside. “Apparently, he found people to celebrate his win with and as for our anniversary, let us say we will not get to celebrate another one.” I told her, a bitter sweet smile playing on my lips as I downed the alcohol in one go.
At once, realization dawned on her and her eyes went wide. “Tell me he didn't—”
“He did.” I cut in, slamming the cup on the table. “Yes, Taylor. My boyfriend of two years has been cheating on me for months and I was stupid enough not to know. And not just, I caught him in a threesome with his best friend. So yes, my heart is freaking broken right now.”
“I spent two years pouring into that relationship. My time. My being. My all. He was always my first priority. Always my first choice. Yet, it was not enough. Never enough for him. I hate him so much right now.”
“Oh, my poor baby.” Pity displayed on her face as she moved toward me, engulfing me into a hug. At that point, I could no longer hold on the strong girl facade I had on.
Instantly, tears flowed down my cheeks, my hands trembling as sobs racked through me. Taylor was very much aware of how much I had loved him. He was my first love. He was the very first person to ever tell me he loved me and showed it.
Or maybe I had been the foolish one. The blind one. Couldn’t see past the supposed love I had for him. Couldn’t see him for the cheat that he was.
My heart ached so much. Taylor murmured soothing words as she patted my back. “His actions only proved that he wasn't meant for you, Hay. You will meet the right man. The one who would care for you in ways he never did and when you do, you will not regret it.”
“You know what?” She pulled away, looking me straight in the face. “I think I have just the right idea to help you get over the cheating fool.” A mischievous smile crossed her lips.
“Thane was just telling me some minutes ago that he wants us to hit the club to celebrate. What about you come with us? Maybe the noise and drinks there will be able to drown the hurt.” Hope filled her eyes.
Thane was also in the same team as Cole but he has chosen to celebrate it with his girlfriend. Why didn't Cole learn how to be a better boyfriend from him?
Well, it was too late now.
I wanted to refuse. All I wanted was to crawl into the bed and sleep but I was never going to give Cole that much significance so I nodded. Her smile widened as she rubbed the tears off my face.
“Now, all we have to do is get you out of this dolly dress and turn you into a sexy baddie.” I tried to refuse but she pushed me into her bedroom, pulling open her wardrobe. She began to skim through them, dresses flew out as she shook her head at some, kept some and moved on to others.
I knew Taylor was the daughter of a wealthy man. I just didn't know how wealthy he was. I have never met her dad but I knew he was a single dad from the way she often referenced him.
“This is it!” She squealed, jerking me from my thoughts as she turned around, holding up a dress that could barely cover anything.
I started to shake my head but she pushed the dress into my hands and shoved me into the bathroom. I wasn't left with any choice so I changed into the dress. It could barely keep my boobs in and I hated it.
I hated my insecurity being on display. When I was younger, I was often bullied for having a big bust. My mates didn't have, so why did I?
I opened the door, moving to tell Taylor that I couldn't wear the dress but paused when I saw her engaged in a hot kiss with Thane. His hands moved to her ass, squeezing it tight as he pulled her up against him, his fingers disappearing into the center.
She let out a moan, pulling him closer to her. Hot jealousy streamed through me and I turned away, flustered by what I had just seen. Maybe it was the alcohol that was doing this to me.
I really needed that to do as Taylor suggested earlier. I cleared my throat, hoping they would catch the memo. Thankfully, they did.
“Oh, Hi. Hayley.” Thane greeted, his voice deep and husky from the kiss or lust. I didn't know. I turned to them, a small smile crossing my lips.
“Are we ready to party?!” Taylor grinned, and then, she looped her arms around mine, leading the way towards Thane’s car, like he hadn’t just fingered her right in front of me.
