"Was sold for 96 million USD."
The time pointed to 12:00.
Ming Shu tightened the straps of her backpack behind her and looked up at the towering building in front of her.
Under the blazing sunlight, her eyes were somewhat dazzled by the four big characters 'Fu's Headquarters' which shone brightly.
There was no time to hesitate. Ming Shu bit her lip tightly and stepped inside.
Someone was already waiting at the door, so she easily followed them up to the 21st floor.
The heavy black door was slowly opened by Lin Ze, the special assistant.
Then, she saw the man standing in a cloud of smoke, his tall and powerful figure resembling a crouching leopard ready to pounce, with a handsome and exquisite side profile.
Fu Heng, the chairman of this multinational corporation, was young but highly capable.
That was her only understanding of him.
After exhaling a cloud of smoke slowly, Fu Heng lifted his finger, and Lin Ze, who was in perfect sync with him, handed over the document.
"This is the contract, which requires your final signature for confirmation."
Fu Heng didn't even bother to lift his eyelids as he signed his name at the bottom right corner of the document. His bony and distinct fingers tightly gripped the black pen, and each stroke had the force to pierce through the paper.
Ming Shu watched clearly but only lowered her eyelids slightly, standing silently aside.
After Fu Heng finished signing, Lin Ze handed the contract to Ming Shu and pointed to the bottom right corner with his finger. "If there are no objections, Ming Miss, please sign your name here."
Ming Shu lowered her gaze and focused her attention on the contract in her hand.
The words were clearly written in black and white...
96 million dollars, in exchange for all her freedom from this day forward.
After lightly moistening her lips, Ming Shu did not hesitate to take the pen and signed her name.
"From today on, you only need to play the role of the president's wife. It's best to stay out of other matters."
A low and sudden male voice startled her. She hesitated to speak but was intimidated by the cold aura emanating from this man without warning.
"Mingshu." Fu Heng abruptly spoke again, his voice low and slightly hoarse, "I hope you're clear about your position."
His words instantly interrupted what she was about to say.
Fu Heng turned around, glancing at her coldly, and casually threw a document at her.
With a "clack", the document landed precisely in front of her.
"These are all the debts under your father's name. Since you've signed the contract, this document is officially voided."
Mingshu stared at him in a daze, then crouched down and picked up the documents on the ground.
It was indeed her father's handwriting.
She carefully flipped through the pages, holding the heavy stack of documents tightly against her chest and whispered, "Thank you!"
Fu Heng snorted and turned away, not looking at her again.
Although he didn't turn around, Mingshu still bowed lightly towards his back, tightly clutching the document that represented her father's life, and quietly retreated.
Lin Ze still wore his polite smile and stood at the doorway.
"Miss Ming, I hope you can communicate well with your father tonight. You should understand that the president's patience is always limited."
"I understand, thank you for your trouble."
"You're welcome! The driver will send you back shortly."
She was just about to refuse, but Lin Ze continued, "It's the president's orders."
That man again?
Mingshu immediately fell silent, her gaze directed at the tightly closed door of the president's office...
From this moment on, she devoted herself to that demonic man!
When Ming Shu returned home, it was already quite dark.
Due to the narrow alley entrance, she asked the driver to park at the intersection and walked back by herself.
From afar, deep within that alley, she saw her father, looking haggard, craning his neck to look in the direction of the alley entrance.
"Shu, why are you back so late? This place isn't like the Ming mansion. It's not safe for a girl like you out here," he said with concern.
Ming Shu stepped forward and affectionately hooked her arm through his, smiling sweetly, "I know, Dad. Let's go home first. I'm hungry..."
Dinner was still the simple three dishes and one soup, though not as lavish as the gourmet feasts of the past, it made Ming Shu feel even warmer than before.
Aunt Gu ladled out the soup and placed it in front of her, looking at her with concern, "Shu, have you lost weight again? Is work very stressful?"
Ming Shu forced a smile, "I'm not tired. Being a bit thinner is better, don't you think I look prettier than before?
After dinner, as usual, it was her father's news time. She sat quietly beside him, staring at the silver streaks in his temples, lost in thought.
Before the company went bankrupt, Dad was always very busy, and the two of them often didn't get to see each other much.
The person who spent the most time with her at home was Aunt Gu, who had taken her mother's place since her mother passed away.
And today was the day she would repay them.
Ming Shu spent the entire night writing a long letter, which she placed under her pillow along with that document.
The next morning, unaware of her plans, her father and Aunt Gu sent her to the alley entrance as always.
Ming Shu waved goodbye to them as usual, but as she turned around, tears fell like rain.
The Fu family's driver was waiting for her at the intersection. She bent down and got into the car. As the car started up, it drove towards the Fu mansion.
The villa, perched by the serene Crescent Lake and framed by majestic mountains and waters, captivated Ming Shu's gaze with its breathtaking vistas.
Upon arrival, Ming Shu disembarked from the vehicle.
A pristine white European-style villa stood majestically before her very eyes.
"Welcome home, Mrs. Lin!"
The synchronized greeting startled her, and upon closer inspection, she noticed rows of personnel bowing on both sides of the gate, paying homage to her.
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Ming Shu flashed a bashful smile.
The butler, a kind-hearted elderly man with a warm smile, was affectionately addressed as 'Uncle Guan' by everyone, including Ming Shu. Her daily meals and living arrangements were meticulously taken care of by a middle-aged woman named 'Housekeeping Aunt', who possessed a benevolent demeanor and was an exceptional cook.
On her initial day, Ming Shu felt somewhat uneasy, and even as she lay on the expansive white bed at night, she still felt like she was amidst a dream.
From that moment onwards, her life began to unfold in a dramatically different manner.
Ming Shu tightly pressed her lips together, struggling to suppress the quiver in her throat as she softly uttered, "Dad"...
Only after the depth of night did she finally succumb to sleep, tears streaming down her face.
Being unfamiliar with the bed, Ming Shu did not enjoy a restful sleep on her first night in the Lin residence.
Before the break of dawn, she awoke.
The morning mist danced outside the window, tinged with the faint glow of the rising sun.
Ming Shu blinked and was just about to rise when her fingers brushed against a warm body.
With a shock, she realized that there was someone lying beside her!
Ming Shu dared not scream, as she knew exactly who it was, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
At this juncture, a sneer suddenly emanated from beside her.
