Chapter Two

437 Words
~July 1, 2012~ Stacy sat between her mother and father's grave, contemplating what to do. The 26-year-old couldn't leave that poor girl in the hands of her insane brother. What has he done to her already? He's had her for three days and with her brother the possibilities are endless. She had some bruising on her body so that indicated that he'd hit her. She looked weak and frail so he'd denied her blood, which is extremely dangerous for a young vampire. She could die in two days. Tomorrow at the least. There was one last thing he most likely did to her and Stacy did not want to think about it. Please God, don't let him be that cruel. "Mother, father, please tell me what to do. Help me." The trees around her rustled and the sky darkened. The air grew extremely cold. So cold Stacy could see her breaths. She was not at all startled by this. Ghosts were a common thing in this world of monsters. This also wasn’t the first time Stacy had sought guidance from her parents.  Because of this, Stacy knew to listen close because ghosts spoke in hushed whispers, the wind carrying their voices. "Let fate decide my child."  Stacy frowned. "But mother, fate has already decided and it is death."  She then heard her father's voice as if he were whispering in her ear. "The hands of fate are still at work Stacy. Fate is not yet done with your brother and the young girl…” Before Stacy could ask more questions she felt their ghosts leave her, and the world around returned to normal. Stacy sighed, not sure her parents were right…  Please be right…  Veronica was too weak to move. It took all her strength just to open her eyes, and the movement was like trying to lift 500lbs. Again. I'm dying. Zacharias was off somewhere else only God knows where, while Veronica was in her cage, her skin white as snow, her lips dry and her throat scratchy like sandpaper. She looked awful. Need blood. With every passing second, her body's energy died a little more and the ties her body had to her soul snapped, one by one. She began to sob, draining her body of more blood. I don't want to die. Her sobs increased in volume and she cried out for her father's spirit.  "Father!" More energy lost. "Father!" Darkness began to cloud her vision. "Daddy! Dad-" "Veronica?" Darkness blinded her and her body slowly went limp. The last few ties to her soul breaking, one by one.
