“Who’s forcing you to come here?”
“Why don’t you just make the best of this day?”
“Do you hate men so much?”
Raphael keeps on talking but Aunt Alicia just ignores him. She just looks at a distance and blankly, but she responds when I talk to her.
“Have you ever been broken before?”
“You just came back, right? So how does it feel after so many years of being away?”
I looked at him, pitying him for trying so hard. I wanted to tap his shoulder out of consolation.
“No man even caught your attention at this event? No one is outstanding?”
Aunt unenthusiastically looked at him.
“Are you expecting me to tell you, Mr. Ramirez?”
“You know me? How did you know that I'm a Ramirez?”
Aunt rolled her eyes.
“Like duh! You kept on waving your invitation for this event in my face. You even make sure that I will surely see your name pasted on the paper. You’re too obvious, dude. Exactly not my type.”
“So direct and cruel. But I made you talk to me again. So we’re friends now.”
“Whatever.”
She looked at me.
“I think the event is about to end. Let’s go?”
I just nodded.
“You can’t just leave like that. You should introduce yourself properly to a friend, right?”
She just looks at Raphael, who’s smiling sheepishly.
“Promise! I just want to be friends.”
She sighed, obviously wanting to get the hell out here already.
“Mary Alicia is her name.”
Grandma appeared out of nowhere. She looks so satisfied seeing her daughter with a man.
“Mary?”
Raphael amusedly said. Aunt rolled her eyes again.
“Shut up!”
Then she dragged me away. We even left Grandma there.
