I sat on the edge of the massive mattress, my trembling hands folded tightly across my lap. I didn't know what to do with myself in the quiet. I couldn't see Toby yet—the guards told me the pack nanny would bring him soon, but the forced isolation was making my chest tighten with anxiety. My eyes wandered around the space. I had never been in a room this grand in my entire life. The walls were a soft, pristine cream, a massive wardrobe was built seamlessly into the far wall, and a dark oak door stood slightly ajar, revealing a glimpse of a private bathroom caked in marble. The bed beneath me was colossal, the sheets impossibly soft against my raw, sensitive skin. A heavy crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling, catching the light.
