Happy Birthday

Dean x Reader Dean may have forgotten a certain special day... Turning over at the sound of your alarm clock you blindly reach for your phone, finally feeling your fingers brush against it you pull it into the bed as you turn it on. "Damnit!" Temporarily blind from the brightness of the screen you manage to turn off the annoying sound and set it back on the nightstand. Sitting up and yawning wide you try to decide if getting up is even worth it, just as you were about to lay back down a soft knock on your door draws your attention. "Come on in," pulling up the covers and tucking your legs up under your body you smile at the youngest Winchester as he steps inside, "Morning Sam." Smiling he walks over to sit on the side of your bed, "Morning Y/N, sleep okay?" Shrugging you couldn't help another yawn taking over, "Yeah, not too bad. What's up?" Pulling a small box out from behind his back Sam grinned, "Happy Birthday!" Giggling you took the box while leaning forward to pull the giant moose into a hug and kiss his cheek, "Thanks Sam, you know you really didn't have to get me anything right?" Lifting one shoulder he simply played it off, "Just open it before I change my mind." Smiling you untied the blue bow and lifted the top off the black box. Inside on a soft piece of cotton sat a beautiful silver necklace. It had a delicate chain with a pendant shaped to match your antiposession tattoos. Tears brimmed your eyes, "Sam its beautiful!" Giving him another quick hug you carefully pulled it from the box, turning around Sam draped it over your head and fastened the hook in the back. It was the perfect length, "I'm glad you like it, Charlie helped me pick it out." Rolling your eyes it made sense now all those weird questions about favorite colors, favorite bands, favorite anything for the past three weeks. Making a mental note to call her later you smiled, reaching up to touch the pendent you couldn't help but give him a goofy smile, "Your the absolute best best friend a girl could ask for you know that moose?" Rolling his eyes at the nickname he stood up, "Yeah I know, and as much as I'd love to just hang all day for your birthday it looks like we've got a case over in Ohio. Pretty nasty ghoul from the look of it." Sighing you threw off the covers and crawled out of the warm comfortable bed, "Okay, is Dean up yet?" "Yeah he's getting the car ready, meet us in ten." Shooting him a salute you turned to grab some clothes and head into the bathroom. A few minutes later you emerged feeling much more awake and ready for a case. Grabbing your bag on the way you walked into the garage and straight towards the open trunk of the impala. Dean was bent over checking all the weapons. Not passing up an opportunity you tilted your head slightly as you took in the great view of him from behind. "See something ya like?" Snapping your eyes up you grinned at the smug look on Deans face as he stood straight, walking forward you threw your bag on top of everything, "I don't know, guess it's okay." Smirking you couldn't help but laugh at the outraged expression on his face as you made your way to the back door. Closing the trunk Dean finally climbed behind baby's wheel, mumbling something about having the best ass in town. Although you and Dean had always had a flirtatious relationship nothing had ever come of it no matter how badly you wished it did. You loved the moments he would flirt with you or shoot that damn smirk your way. Each time giving you butterflies. Heading down the road you wondered when Dean would acknowledge what day it was. You absolutely loved Sam's gift but inside you were dying to know what Dean had planned, the past two years you hunted with the Winchesters he had made sure to keep you laughing all day and make your birthday special. The first year you spent the day binge watching bad horror movies and making fun of everything. Last year your birthday was spent pranking Sam all day and then Dean had even taken you out that night to a local park to spend hours laying under the stars on baby's hood, talking and laughing. That was one of your favorite memories with the oldest Winchester, one you would treasure forever. Time passed along with too many towns to count and endless stretches of road. After driving for almost thirteen hours Dean finally pulled into a run down motel for the night. By now your birthday was almost over, frowning you realized you'd spent most of the day in the car and Dean never once mentioned anything about it. A feeling began creeping in as Dean walked in to book a room, maybe he forgot? Standing up out of the car and stretching you couldn't help but let your shoulders drop, disappointment taking over. Dean came back a moment later, key in hand. "Alright lets get settled and grab some food, I'm starving!" Nodding you followed them behind the car and waited to grab your bag, just as you reached forward Deans hand came out and snatched it. Looking up in confusion Dean shrugged, "I got it, besides what kind of man would I be if I let you carry that, especially today!" Your heart began beating fast, he did remember! Faking ignorance you crossed your arms and followed him into the motel room, "Oh yeah? And whats today?" Dropping both bags on the end of one bed he turned, smiling wide, "Your turn to buy dinner! And you promised this time I could have pie!" Setting his laptop down on the small table Sam turned around giving Dean a b***h face, "Dean that's not..." Trying to play off the shock you cleared your throat, "Right! I finally talked you into doing laundry last week." Backing up slowly towards the door and avoiding looking at either brother you grabbed your jacket from the chair you'd laid it in. "Okay um, guess I'll go grab the food while you guys set up. Keys?" Dean pulled out the keys and walked forward tilting his head, "You okay?" Nodding you reached forward but he pulled back just as your fingers brushed the cold metal, "Not a scratch! And no parking it next to douchy looking cars either." Rolling your eyes you nodded, "I know the rules Dean, she'll be fine." Dropping the key in your outstretched hands he smiled, "Okay, hey nice necklace by the way, is it new?" Feeling the famliar burn at the back of your eyes you nodded and turned towards the door, "Yeah Sam gave it to me." Deans eyes narrowed as he watched the door close behind you. Turning around he looked at his brother as he sat there bringing up everything he needed on his laptop, "Dude what'd you give her that for? You guys secretly dating or something?" Sam could hear the jealous undertone to Deans words and shook his head, "No Dean, Y/N is family. One tends to give family presents from time to time. I gave that to her this morning." Dean shot a look towards the door and then back to Sam, confusion all over his face. "Why?" Leaning back in his chair Sam gave Dean the best b***h face he could, crossing his arms as he simply waited. Dean continued to stare at him before realization finally crossed his eyes. Taking out his phone he checked the date and cringed, "s**t, todays her birthday?" Leaning forward and continuing to work Sam nodded, "Yeap, and you being the considerate person you are just sent the birthday girl to buy food for everyone AND get you pie because she had to bribe you to help with laundry." Feeling like a complete asshole Dean sank into the chair in front of Sam, "I didn't mean to forget, what do I do?" Sam looked up and actually felt sorry for his brother, he knew how much Dean cared about you and wanted nothing but to make you happy, even if he wouldn't admit it to anyone. "Maybe this year you could actually grow a set and tell her." Deans eyes met Sams in a warning glare, "Shut up Sammy, there's nothing to tell her." Standing up and walking towards his bag Sam sighed, "Whatever, I know shes probably hurt right now that you forgot her birthday. And knowing how you've both felt about each other for the past two years I personally think there is no better present than finally admitting you want to be with her, damn the consequences." Grabbing the book he needed he turned back around to see Dean staring at the floor, deep in thought. "I know your worried about what could happen to her, but Dean holding yourself back from being happy in case of what might happen down the road? It's not fair to you or her." Dean stayed silent and continued to think while Sam went back to researching the current case. Fifteen minutes later they heard the familiar engine outside, Dean jumping up and pulling the door open just as you reached it. Seeing your hands full he quickly grabbed the take out bags and moved to let you in the room. Surprised by his sudden actions you walked forward and set down the six pack you'd picked up. "Um Dean you okay?" Setting down the bags beside the beer he stood there staring at you for a moment, bringing his hand up to rub the back of his neck. You knew him well enough to know this was one of his tells when he needed to say something he didn't really want to. Trying to save him the trouble you began pulling out food, "Um, anyway I got you your favorite, bacon cheeseburger extra onions, chili cheese fries, and," digging for a moment you smiled finding the tin you were looking for. Pulling it out you grinned and held it out to him, "A whole pie! Figured maybe I could go ahead and bribe you to do laundry next week too." Dean took the pie from you and set it on the table, "Um, thanks sweetheart." Looking between the brothers you frowned, "Did I miss something? You were pretty excited for a slice of pie when I left, now I bring you a whole one and you act like I just killed someone." Setting the pie down Dean turned to face you, hands in his pockets, "Um, look I'm really sorry about kinda forgetting your birthday." Your face fell, somehow hearing it out loud made it a hundred times worse. Clearning your throat you put on your best fake smile and shrugged before pulling out more food trays. "It's fine Dean, no big deal. Do you want any of my onion rings?" Dean shot Sam a look, both men knew you would play it off anytime you were upset. "Nah, thats okay I'm good. Hey how about since your the birthday girl you get the first piece of pie?" Picking up your food and a beer you gave him a half smile, "Sure Dean, I'm gonna go get started on those books we brought." Turning you walked to sit on the floor with your back against the furthest beds, picking up a lore book you spread it across your legs and began reading as you ate. Looking at his brother once more Dean sat down and began eating, for once he'd actually lost his appetite but he wasn't about to let all the food you'd bought go to waste. Especially after he made you go buy it all. Two hours later you were laying across the bed on your stomach, focused intently on a book. Dean simply stared, loving the way you twirled strands of your hair when you were so focused, it was adorable. His focus broke when you suddenly rolled onto your back, arching it and stretching your arms out Dean licked his bottom lip and had to shift in his seat. Rolling over to stand up you dug through your bag before finding the clothes you wanted, "I'm gonna change and head to bed, you guys can fight over whos sharing tonight I don't care." The moment the door closed Dean turned to his brother, "Mine, um, uh, I meant, she can sleep in mine. Me, she can, um she can sleep with me." Sam grinned at the red tint to Deans face, "Whatever you say big brother." The bathroom door open to reveal you in your favorite soft blue tank top and short shorts, "You guys decide whos bunking together? I could always take the couch if you wanted..." "No!" Dean stood up, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Um, I mean no theres no need for that, you can share with me. Sam would probably crush you in his sleep anyway." He gave you a wink that made you giggle while Sam huffed in annoyance, "Haha very funny." "Okay well goodnight." Crawling into the bed you turned off the lamp on your side and burrowed down into the mattress, within minutes you were sound asleep. Dean quickly ran to brush his teeth, shedding clothes along the way leaving him in a pair of boxers and a tshirt. Shutting off the bathroom light the room dimmed even more, the only light remaining coming from above Sam in the kitchenette. Carefully climbing into the bed so you didn't wake up Dean laid down on his side facing you. In the dim light he simply stared at your neck and shoulders. How the hell he could forget your birthday he'd never know. There was even a day not too long ago he'd actually realized it was coming up soon. After a while of simply laying there letting his mind race he eventually heard Sam turn off the light and go to bed. Minutes later soft snores sounded from behind him. Looking at the clock he realized it was 11:55, taking a deep breath he slowly leaned up on one elbow and reached forward underneath the blankets. Setting his warm hand on your shoulder he shook you gently, "Y/N, wake up sweetheart." Turning your head slightly you rubbed at your eyes, "Whats wrong?" Dean moved forward until his body laid almost against yours, leaning down he pulled you over to face him with your back against the mattress. "I um, I feel really bad about missing your birthday." Bringing a hand up to rub your thumb along his cheek you gave him a small smile, "Dean really its okay." You were surprised when you felt his hand move up to grab yours and pin it to his chest, "No, its not. I want you to know how much you mean to me and I, um. Well theres now," he shot a quick look towards the clock. "Two minutes left of your birthday and I want to give you my present." Confused you simply nodded, "Okay Dean, what is it?" You watched him lick his bottom lip and look at your mouth, then back to your eyes. The second he began leaning down you knew what was happening, you just couldn't believe it. Warm slightly chapped lips met yours, he released your hand in order to grip your waist and pull your body closer to his. One of your hands fisted into his tshirt while the other laid against his neck. Pulling back for air a minute later you both grinned at one another. "Am I dreaming?" Dean chuckled and kissed your nose, "No sweetheart, Happy Birthday." Smiling wide you wrapped an arm around him to pull him as close as possible, afraid he would disappear. Just as the kiss began to get heated you both stopped at the sound of a voice behind you. "Not that I'm not happy for you guys but could you please wait until we get home? Or at least when I'm not in the room?" Laughing out loud you buried your face into the crook of Deans neck. Placing a small kiss there you pulled back as he laid down, pulling you with him to lay your head on his chest. Only one thought ran through your mind, best birthday ever.
