chapter 1 - wedding proposal
Bangkok Whenever I am within these four walls of my house, my mind automatically goes back to the darkest year of my life. I was fifteen years old when my mother passed away after a long, painful illness. Her room used to smell like lavender and hospital machines. But the real nightmare started exactly one month after her funeral. My father walked into our mansion, holding the hand of another woman. Behind her was a young girl, two years younger than me. That girl was Phailin, my new stepsister. My father didn't even wait for my mother’s side of the bed to get cold before bringing his secret family into the light. That was the day I realized the painful truth: my father had been cheating on my mother for years. He had another life, another woman, and another child while my mother was slowly dying. That day, a part of me died, and a new, cold survival instinct took over. I realized that in this house, I was completely alone. To protect myself, I put on a mask. I became completely quiet, submissive, and seemingly defenseless. It became even easier to hide when my secondary gender presented. I was an Omega. In our high-society circle, Omegas were already expected to be weak, but the doctors soon labeled me as "defective." My heat cycles were completely irregular. They came rarely, sometimes skipping months, and my scent was faint, almost non-existent. My stepmother and Phailin mocked me constantly behind closed doors, thinking I was a flawed, broken Omega who would never attract a powerful Alpha. They had no idea. My heat was irregular because my body wasn't a normal Omega body. I wasn't defective—I was evolving. Deep inside my blood, the rare genes of a True Omega were slowly waking up. I wasn't weak; I was incredibly strong. By the time I turned eighteen, I realized I could physically overpower normal Alphas and stand tall against dominant ones without breaking a sweat. But I kept that power buried deep. Let them think I was a broken puppet. The less they feared me, the easier it would be to destroy them when the time was right. "Suriya? Are you even listening to me?" My father’s harsh, booming voice snapped me back to the present. I blinked, pulling my gaze away from the grand dining room window. I was twenty-two now, a 4th-year business student at Chulalongkorn University. The helpless fifteen-year-old boy was long gone, but the mask remained perfectly in place. I sat quietly at the long teak dining table. My father, Kittisak, sat at the head. To his right, my stepmother smirked, and next to her, Phailin—now twenty—was adjusting her expensive diamond bracelet with a smug look on her face. "I am listening, Father," I said, keeping my voice soft, low, and perfectly submissive. "Good," my father said coldly. "As I was saying, a double wedding will be arranged for you and Phailin next week. We received two marriage proposals. The first is from a very wealthy, powerful Alpha from an elite family. The second... is from a man named Singha. He is a Beta." "Phailin was originally supposed to marry the Beta," my stepmother chimed in, pretending to sigh with sadness. "But we just found out he is completely broke! Our beautiful Phailin deserves a strong, rich Alpha husband. It would ruin our family name if she married a beggar." Phailin sniffled dramatically, playing the victim. "Yes, Father! I cannot live in poverty. Suriya is a defective Omega anyway, so it doesn't matter who he marries. He should take the Beta and save our family contract. I will marry the powerful Alpha." I saw right through their disgusting trap. Phailin wanted the rich Alpha for herself. By forcing me to marry a 'worthless Beta,' she and her mother wanted to throw me out of the estate completely empty-handed, ensuring I got none of the family wealth while they celebrated. "Suriya," my father looked at me, his eyes stern. "Phailin refuses the Beta. But we cannot break a formal wedding alliance without huge legal and social scandals in Bangkok. You have to marry Beta. I let my shoulders drop slightly. I looked down at my hands, playing the role of a crushed, hopeless Omega perfectly. I let them enjoy their little moment of victory. But inside, I was holding back a dangerous laugh. "I understand, Father," I whispered, my voice trembling slightly for effect. "If Phailin wants the Alpha so much... I will step back. I will marry a Beta." Phailin and her mother instantly exchanged a thrilled, victorious look. They thought they had successfully ruined my life. But then, I slowly raised my head. The submissive, broken act vanished in a split second. My posture straightened, my eyes turned razor-sharp, and the cold, dominant aura of a True Omega flashed in my gaze, making my father blink in sudden shock. "However," I continued, my voice cutting through the silent dining room like steel. "I am saving this family from a massive public scandal. I will not enter a financially unstable marriage empty-handed. I have my own terms." My father frowned, completely taken aback by my sudden change in energy. "What terms?" I opened my bag, pulled out a pre-drafted legal document, and slid it smoothly across the table. It stopped perfectly right in front of him. "First, I want a 23% direct business share of Kittisak Enterprises transferred to my name legally," I stated, my voice completely calm and confident. "Second, I want an upfront settlement of 200 million Baht cash transferred to my private bank account before the wedding day." "Are you crazy?!" Phailin shrieked, slamming her hands on the table, her face turning red. "Twenty-three percent?! That's nearly a quarter of our entire company! For marrying a useless, broke Beta?!" "Silence, Phailin!" my father snapped, his eyes wide as he stared at the legal papers in absolute shock. He was trapped, and he knew it. If he refused my terms, the wedding contract would break. The resulting lawsuits and the damage to our company's stock value in the Bangkok market would cost him way more than 200 million Baht. "You have until tomorrow morning to sign the transfer papers, Father," I said smoothly, standing up from my chair and adjusting my casual jacket. "Once the money and shares are secured in my account, I will happily walk down the aisle with my 'poor' fiancé." Without waiting for his answer, I turned and walked out of the room, leaving the three of them sitting in stunned silence. They thought they had trapped me with a worthless Beta, completely unaware that they had just handed me my greatest weapon. But as I walked away, I didn't know that Singha was hiding a dark, dangerous secret of his own—one that would change my destiny forever.
