Whatever it takes

ALEXA'S  POV I gasped as I smacked into a hard chest knocking the wind out of me before bouncing off the lockers and hitting the floor hard “oww!” I groaned. I looked up to be met with a pair of concerned eyes, suddenly they turned cold and dark. “Watch where you’re going dumbass!” He hissed. I looked at the face properly and let out a heavy sigh it was Parker Adams, the bad boy bully of the school. I wasn’t afraid of him though which I think annoyed him more because he tormented me the most. Not a day passed without him doing something stupid, he never physically hurt me but he did do a lot of dumb s**t. I pulled myself up and wiped the back of my dress “you walked into me Parker, I’m standing at my locker....are you blind?” I asked as I felt my forehead, blood...great!  He didn’t seem to like my reply, he grabbed me by the shoulders and slammed me into the lockers. There was no one around, I’d been let out of class to grab a book I’d forgotten, him? Well, he never went to class and always got away with it. “What did you say to me?” he growled. “Deaf too?” I asked raising an eyebrow. He slammed his hands on the lockers either side of my head and moved his face closer to mine, “what? You gonna kiss me?” I teased, I couldn’t help myself. His eyes went from mine and dropped to my lips before he looked back at me and a smirk appeared on his face. He took a step closer to me so our bodies were slightly touching. “In your dreams babe,” he said huskily “I bet,” he said and ran his hand under my dress and stopped on my thigh “you’d love me to f**k you.”  I smiled and looked him in the eye “aww ‘babe' I shot back “I think it's you that might wanna f**k me” I said and kissed him on the cheek before pushing him away “later ‘babe' I giggled and started to walk off. I heard him chuckle so I looked back to find him watching me “this isn’t over Alexa” he said and winked at me before he went the other way.  It was now lunch time I made my way to the cafeteria and scanned the crowd for my friends. I smiled when I spotted my best friend Callie waving me over. “Hey guys” I said and dropped into a chair. “Lex, how did you find Mr Bronson's history test?” my friend Dylan asked. I shrugged and pulled out my lunch “wasn’t too bad thought it would be harder.” “Uh, Lex....why is Parker staring at you like that?” Callie asked. I immediately looked over at his table to find him gazing at me, I raised an eyebrow an smirked, he shifted in his seat winked at me and looked away “it’s Parker....who knows?” I said and went back to my lunch.  PARKER'S POV  I sat at my table watching Alexa and her friends, why did it suddenly bother me that she had more male friends than female? Why did it bother me when that i***t Lucas touched her arm? “Parker? Hey parker? You listening to me?” my friend Aaron said. “What?” I asked. He rolled his eyes “you’re on another planet ma,I said, are we going to Alexa Keane’s birthday party Friday?” I looked back to Alexa “didn’t know it was her birthday soon were we invited?” I asked. “Her brother James invited Sam and told him to pass it on to us.” I nodded without taking my eyes off her “sure, we'll go may as well have some fun this weekend.”  I heard a scoff beside me and looked to see Dionne roll her eyes, Dionne was my go to girl when I wanted s*x that’s all I wanted, pity she was that dumb she thought it now meant we were together. “Why would you wanna go to that losers party when you could come over to mine? My parents are out Friday night” she smirked and moved closer to me, she ran her hands up my chest and moved closer to my face “we could be alone and have just as much fun in bed.” I cringed at how close she was I honestly have no idea why I ever slept with her in the first place.  Taking her hands I shoved her away from me and stood up as I saw Alexa stand up and gather her things. “You were a f**k Dionne, that’s all I’ve told you before, we’re not together, we’ll never be together and to be honest, I don’t really wanna f**k you ever again so stop bothering me and telling people we’re together!” I hissed and walked off. “Oh! Burn!” I Heard Aaron laugh.  I walked along the hall behind her as she strolled slowly while looking down at her phone. “Hey! Dummy!” I called getting her attention. She stopped and turned back, rolling her eyes when she saw it was me...I loved when she did that. “Did you see a mirror?” she asked and looked back to her phone. “What?” I laughed. “You said ‘hey dummy’ thought you’d seen your reflection” she said still without looking up...it annoyed me that she wasn’t looking at me. “What’s so important on that phone?” I said and snatched it from her. “Hey! Parker! Give it back!” she yelled as I held my arm up in the air. “Who you texting? Your boyfriend?” I laughed. "Actually, yes,” she smirked. I was stunned, she actually had a boyfriend? I was only trying to piss her off. She took my stunned reaction and quickly grabbed her phone. “You have a boyfriend?” I frowned.  Before she could reply I heard a menacing growl behind me “PARKER ADAMS!” my dad yelled...s**t! What was he doing here? “I’ve just spoken to principal Winters! Your grades are so bad he’s talking about you not graduating!”  ALEXA'S POV  I stood by and watched our Alpha yell at Parker, it was awkward..should I leave? Would they notice? “Your grades are worse than a ten year old child! What have you being doing here? Lie to me and I will kill you!” he hissed and took a step closer to Parker. “Studying sir,” he replied not breaking eye contact. I supressed the scoff that was about to leave my mouth, now was not the time, Parker would kill me later. His dad sighed and scrubbed his hands over his face, “get your s**t together Parker! Principal Winters has given you two weeks to retake all the exams you’ve failed. You take them and pass or you’ll be out of line for Alpha!” he hissed. “What?! Dad! You can’t do that! I’ll make a great Alpha! You know I will!” His dad stepped back, “prove it to me...you’ll retake and pass all these exams and graduate with top marks!” he hissed and stormed away. “Sorry you had to witness that Alexa!” he called as he walked away.  Parker turned and looked at me as if he only noticed I was there, the hallways were empty again so it was just me and him. A glare crossed his face and he shoved me into the lockers, “you mention this to anyone I’ll rip your throat out!” he hissed. “Get the f**k off me!” I hissed and shoved him away from me, “don’t you dare take this out on me! You’ve only yourself to blame!” I hissed and stormed off into the bathrooms away from him.  He followed me and bounced the door off the wall, “what’s that meant to mean?” he yelled and slammed the door. I raised my eyebrow when he slid the lock across, “why did you lock it?” He took a step closer to me causing me to take a step back, we repeated this until my back hit the sinks, “Parker?” I said in confusion. “Shut up!” he hissed and pinned himself against me. “Par-“ I was cut off as his mouth crashed to mine and he kissed me roughly. My body went tense before a warm feeling spread through my chest and I started to kiss him back...I don’t know why.  He slowed the kiss down and slid his hands around my waist, his kisses we almost lazy...it was nice. Then he sped up again and shoved his tongue in my mouth...I couldn’t help the moan that left my throat. I felt him smirk as his hands ran down to my ass, my breath hitched as he lifted me off the ground and dumped me onto the sinks before roughly pulling my legs around him...why was I letting this happen? “Alexa, you taste so good,” he groaned and moved to my neck kissing slowly. “F**k you feel good,” he groaned. “Parker!” I yelled as he bite me then soothed it with his tongue.  It was like someone splashed him with water, he jumped away from me wide eyed, “tell anyone I kissed you and you’re dead!” he roared and ran from the bathroom.  PARKER'S POV   I ran from the bathroom and didn’t stop until I was outside of the school. I hurried to the steps at the back where I know no one would see me. “What the f**k did I just do?!” I yelled. Why did I kiss her? Why did I even follow her in there? I’m such an i***t, I didn’t care much for that girl, I loved teasing her. But lately I’ve being feeling drawn to her, my wolf seems to stir when she’s mentioned or when she’s near. I’m only eighteen two weeks, I’m still getting used to my wolf and his urges, we’re still getting to know one another.  “Maybe she’s our mate?” he said. I scoffed, “not likely, she’s not even eighteen yet, her wolf hasn’t come up yet. There’s no way she would be.” “Wolves can sense other wolves Parker, hers is due very soon...maybe the scent is what’s drawing you to her.” I scoffed again, then I remembered what Aaron had said about her party Friday. “She’s eighteen soon! Her wolf is rising, yeah that’s it! That’s why I’m drawn to her, that’s all it is, I can smell a new wolf.” “Maybe,” my wolf agreed. I sighed in relief, my behaviour in the bathroom was a moment of madness, it’ll never happen again. Sitting on the steps I rested my hands on my head and took a few deep breaths.  “There you are man!” Aaron called, “I’ve been looking for you! We heard about your dad,” he said and sat beside me. “What? Who told you that?” I asked and jumped up. “Everyone’s talking about it...why do you look so angry?” he asked cautiously. I growled and stormed off, I warned her! Storming into the school I found her on her damn phone again and stalked to her.  Grabbing her phone I smashed it off the ground and dragged her to her feet “I warned you,” I snarled and gripped her throat and squeezed hard. “Get off her!” her friend Callie yelled and tried to pull my hand away. Her face was red her eyes were wide, her lips were turning blue. She clawed at my hand trying to free herself, I just squeezed tighter. “You’re killing her!” Callie cried and tried again to pull her away from me. Next thing I know her eyes are closing and the clawing slows down. I was suddenly ripped away from her and slammed to a wall with hands around my throat. “What the f**k are you doing to my sister!” her brother growled. “Tyler! She’s not breathing!” I heard Callie cry. He squeezed my neck tight, “I’m not done with you,” he snarled and went to his sisters aid...I’d gone too far. I watched him do mouth to mouth for a minute before she sucked in a deep breath. He scooped her into his arms and took off with her friends running after him.  ALPHA WARREN'S POV I sat in my office going through paperwork, there was a lot to do. There was pack wages to pay, trainers to pay, some of the houses needed small renovations after the rouge attack last week, I had other matters to attend to as well. I had matters to deal with from neighbouring packs, my pack was the strongest and had most members, with the rising of rouge attacks in each territory other Alpha’s were reaching out to me for help. I would like to help but I’m not so sure I could help everyone, if I sent warriors to surrounding packs I would leave my own vulnerable and open for an attack. My pack came first, my pack must be protected. And to top it all off I was worrying about my lazy good for nothing son....it was going to be a long night. I looked up when there was a knock at my door, “come in!” I called.  My Beta and brother walked in and stopped in front of my desk, “what is it Jake?” He looked uneasy for a second before he composed himself, “Steven Keane has requested for you to meet him at the hospital, he needs to speak with you immediately.” I frowned, Steven was a friend, normally he’d just drop in. “Can’t it wait? I’m pretty busy right now.” “No, Warren....his daughter was attacked, he’s going out of his mind.” “Attacked?” I said and shot to my feet, “where?” I asked as I grabbed my stuff. “In the school,” my brother replied as he followed me. “In the school?!” I yelled and turned to face him, “who was it? Where were the guards?” I asked and pulled my car door open. “It was lunch time, students were everywhere, they were patrolling the grounds.” I sighed and climbed into my car, “was it Alexa or Grace?” “Alexa, but you need to listen to me Warren,” my brother said quickly. “I don’t have time, find Parker and bring him to me, he was with her at lunch time, he might have seen who did this,” I said and closed the door before pulling away.   I arrived at the hospital to find Steven and his wife looking through a glass window, Zara held onto him tightly as tears ran down her face. Their other children sat on nearby chairs with some of Alexa's friend. “Steven, Zara,” I said stopping behind them. Steven turned to face me, tears glistening in his eyes as he gripped Zara tighter, “look at my daughter Warren, just look at my beautiful baby girl,” he said as his voice cracked. I took a step closer to them and looked into the room, A heavy sigh left my body as I looked in at Alexa covered in tubes. “She can’t heal properly because her wolf hasn’t come up yet,” Zara whispered. I sighed again and turned to Steven, “I’m sorry for your troubles, I will personally make sure whoever is responsible will be punished.” I turned as their second eldest Tyler scoffed.  TYLER'S POV  I was pissed, oh how I wanted to get my hands on that rat bastard Parker. I scoffed at the Alpha’s words, like hell he'd punish his own son. He turned and looked at me with raised eyebrows, “do you know what happened today Tyler?” I scoffed again and stood up, “yeah, I know what happened today, I was there, I saw it, I pulled him off her! I was so close to ripping his throat out but my sister needed me more, she wasn’t breathing!” I hissed. He shook his head and closed his eyes tight, I could tell he was hurt by this just as much as we were but I didn’t care, his son had done this to my innocent sister. He could have killed her!  “Give me a name?” he asked. “Parker Adams,” I replied. I saw shock riddle his body, I didn’t care I just wanted his son dead, “that’s right Alpha, your own son did this! He strangled her until she lost consciousness and stopped breathing! Your own son tried to kill my sister!” “W..what?” he asked in shock, “Parker did this?”  “Yes,” my father answered, “all the students confirmed it, he just walked right up to her, slapped her phone from her hand and started choking her.” “Steven, I don’t know what to say, I’m so sorry.” “Please, Alpha,” my dad said as his voice cracked again, “my baby is fighting for her life, her windpipe was badly damaged, Doctor Ryan said she may never be able to speak again. Her eighteenth birthday is in two days, he has ruined that for her...he may have ruined her life. Please, keep him under control and away from my daughter or so help me god, I will kill him myself,” he sniffed and walked off into the room with my mom.  “Go dad,” I chuckled and turned to the others, "you guys should get home, Callie, tell your mom I’ll be by for Faith and Freya later, mom and dad will want to stay here.” I turned back to Alpha Warren, “is your precious son actually going to be punished?” I asked as he stared blankly in at Alexa. “He’ll wish he was never born when I get my hands on him,” he growled and stormed off.  I chuckled to myself and turned to look at my brother sitting there by himself, he was two years older than Alexa but they were pretty tight, “James?” I said and sat beside him. “Do you think she’s gonna die?” he whispered. “No, don’t think like that,” I said and wrapped my arms around him, “Lex is tough, she’ll pull through.” I'm gonna kill Parker,” he growled. “You and me both brother....so will Kyle when he gets back,” I said and stood up, “come on let’s eat, dad will call if there’s any news.”  PARKER'S POV   After the whole thing with Alexa the principal ripped me a new one and suspended me telling me to leave the grounds immediately. I was shocked at what I’d done myself that I just nodded and left without any of my things. When I arrived at my house I had one foot in the door before I was pulled out and slammed against the wall, I’d expected it to be my dad but instead saw the angry face of my uncle.  “What were you thinking!” he hissed. “I wasn’t thinking, my anger got the better of me and I lost control....I’m sorry, how is she?” I asked sincerely. “You’re sorry?” he laughed, “Parker, you’re in big trouble here, your father knows, I’ve never seen him so mad. Her father and brothers are looking for you too, your mother is hysterical! Why would you do such a thing?” I looked down at my feet and chewed on my lip, I was so ashamed of myself, “how is she?” I asked again and looked up at him, “is she okay?” “No Parker! She’s not okay!” he yelled and took a step back, “go see your father,” he said and walked off.  I blew out a deep breath and pushed the front door in....better get this out of the way so I can go see Alexa. I walked along to my dad’s office and tried to calm my nerves, I’ve seen my dad at his angriest...it wasn’t nice. I got to his door and hesitated before knocking, “What?!” he yelled. I swallowed hard and pushed the door in, “you wanted to see me?” I asked and stepped into the room.  His eyes darkened, the glass in his hand shattered...shit, I’m dead. “Tell me Parker!” he spat as he took a step closer to me, “have I raised you to put your hand on a woman?” “N..no sir,” I stuttered. “Then would you mind please telling my why you did what you did to that poor girl?!” he yelled. “I’m sorry dad, after you left I was pissed that you’d yelled at me and in front of her too. I asked her not to tell anyone what she’d heard but Aaron came looking for me and told me the whole school was talking about it....I snapped and lost control, I don’t even remember getting to her, I just remember my hand around her throat.” I let out a pained cry as a punch landed on my face and I fell to the floor.  “Have you any idea what you’ve done to that girl?!” he yelled and punched me again. “You crushed her windpipe! She may never speak again!” he yelled and started to kick me. “You’ve ruined her birthday! You may have ruined her life too! You are a disgrace to this family! I hereby strip you of the future Alpha title! You are no son of mine and you will pay for what you’ve done to that girl!” he spat and stormed out of the office leaving me on the floor bleeding and grasping for air....I totally deserved this.  ALEXA'S POV I could hear people talking, my head was fuzzy, last thing I remember was sitting with Callie and Dylan waiting for the bell to ring. Then Parker storms over to me and....oh my god! He tried to kill me! Tried to strangle me! I tried to open my eyes but I couldn’t, was I dead? I didn’t think I was because I could feel hands in both my hands, someone was stroking my head too. My throat was sore, it felt like something was up my nose, when I swallowed it felt like something was all the way down my throat. I began to panic, what was wrong with me? Where was I?  My breathing began to sped up, my chest tightened, my head hurt, my throat felt like it was closing. A loud beeping alarm made me jump and squeeze those hands holding mine. “Steven!” I know that voice, “I think she’s trying to wake up!” my mom yelled. “Tyler!” my dad yelled, “she’s waking up! Get Doctor Ryan!” “Quickly! she’s freaking out!” I heard my brother James say as I began to claw at my nose and mouth. My dad grabbed my hands and held them tight, “it’s okay baby, just relax! They are just tubes to help you breath, calm down,” he said softly.  I tried to calm myself I really did, I jumped as I felt a hand land on my shoulder. “Alexa, it’s Doctor Ryan, I need to you to take a deep breath when I count to three,” he said. “Do not panic, I’m removing your breathing tube, okay, just stay calm and give me a deep breath, one, two, three!” I sucked in as much air as I could and almost gagged as I felt the tube hit the inside of my throat. As soon as it was out I began to cough furiously, man, I needed to throw up! I finally opened my eyed and blinked a few times against the light. After the fifth time I kept them open. My mom smiled at me and stroked my face, my dad squeezed my hand and dropped a kiss on my head. Doctor Ryan stood by the bed reading my chart. My brothers James and Tyler stood by the door with my sister Grace...where were the twins? I wondered.  “How do you feel Alexa?” Doctor Ryan asked. I went to reply with okay but nothing would come out, it was like a small catlike sound....what was happening? Why couldn’t I talk? “Your windpipe was damaged during your attack, it was crushed badly. I was hoping the two days you were out would have healed you but since you haven’t gotten your wolf yet you didn’t heal as well as I’d hoped, you get some rest. We’ll continue with test tomorrow." “What’s he trying to blame me for?” came a voice in my head. “Um...hello?” “Hi Alexa, im your wolf, Faye, I can finally talk to you.” Its my birthday today!!!!  PARKER'S POV   I’d decided night time would be the best time to come see Alexa , hopefully her parents would be gone home and she’d be alone, I really needed to see her and apologise. I walked along the lake that ran at the back of the pack houses and led to the back of the hospital so no one would see me. As I got closer a beautiful scent of coconut and maple hit my nose. “Mate!” my wolf yelled excitedly. “You’re sure?” I asked. “Yes! Go to her, she’s sad!” he whimpered. Sad? That didn’t sound good, I quickened my pace and came across a girl sitting on a large rock with her back to me. It was like she senses me, like she sensed I was her mate. Her body tensed before she stood up and turned around....Alexa?! Alexa was my mate!! “Told you,” my wolf said smugly.  I ignored him and walked a bit closer to her. She gripped her coat and took a step back wide eyed and began to frantically look from side to side....she was looking for a way to get away from me and I couldn’t really blame her. “It’s okay,” I said and held up my hands, “I’m not gonna hurt you, I swear.” She studied me for a minute before she nodded slowly and her body started to relax, she sat back on the rock and looked out to the water like she was before I’d gotten here. I walked to her and cautiously sat beside her, I felt her body tense again and saw her close her eyes tight. “Alexa, I promise I won’t hurt you,” I said softly.  After a few minutes silence I sighed and turned to face her, “Alexa, I’m so sorry for what happened, I don’t know what happened, I got angry and lost control. I blacked out or something, the last thing I remember was Aaron telling me everyone was talking about me and my dad. After that I only remember your brother pinning me to the wall while Callie was over you as you lay on the floor." After those last few words we fell into silence, I left her lost in her thoughts. It was the least I owed her.
