Whatever it takes

Chapter 7

ALPHA WARREN'S  POV 

“Sit down Steven,” I said as we entered the living room and waited for him to take a seat before I continued, “I know you’re angry and upset. I know this is hard for both you and Zara,” I said and sat beside him. “Parker is trying to make amends, Alexa has accepted his apology and wishes to move on. I can’t imagine what you must have gone through and to be honest, if it had been my Jade I’d have ripped his throat out. Saying that, we all need to move on. Parker and Alexa are friends and wish to remain so, it is your choice if you forgive him or not. If you choose not to all I ask is that you let them get on with it. We’re friends Steven, I wouldn’t like this to come between us.” 

He sighed heavily and sat back on the sofa, “she’s my daughter, she almost died, how do you forgive that Alpha?” “It’s Warren when we’re at occasions like this Steven, all you can do is be the bigger person and leave it in the past, Alexa and Parker are eighteen, they’re adults now. We cannot tell them what to do anymore, they’re going to be in each other’s lives whether we like it or not.” He nodded and looked down at the floor, “I promised Alexa I’d try to forgive him, I couldn’t even get through the first five minutes of dinner,” he sighed.

“There’s time to turn it around,” I chuckled, “look Steven, this is going to be hard for a while. There are times I see Parker and just want to punch him, but then I remember he’s trying to turn himself around and Alexa wants us all to forget it and move on from it.” He sat forward and scrubbed his hands over his face, “Alexa was always the peacekeeper, I just don’t know how to handle it Warren. Sitting in that hospital waiting for news watching her hooked up to all those machines was the scariest moment of my life.” “I can’t imagine the pain and worry you must have felt, thank the moon Goddess she pulled through. Has Dr Ryan said any more about her voice?” I asked. 

He nodded and looked down at the floor, “she wouldn’t let her mother or I come with her, she’s mad at us for keeping Parker’s punishment from her. He told her there was more improvement and he’s almost certain she'll speak again. She’s another scan and more tests next week.” “That’s great news, I hope next week brings more good news,” I said and stood up, “perhaps we should get back in there, Zara went to a lot of trouble we shouldn’t ruin it on her.” “No,” he said and stood up, “she'll kill me later otherwise,” he chuckled. I chuckled too and pulled the door open, “I think my mate will have my head too, let’s just try to enjoy the night,” I said and walked back towards the kitchen. 

ALEXA'S POV 

 Alpha Warren and my dad made their way back into the kitchen, as soon as he looked at me I narrowed my eyes. He'd promised me he would try and then he has an outburst like that? I watched him as he walked to me and stopped in front of me, lowering himself down he kissed me on the cheek and pulled back, “I’m sorry Alexa, I’ll try harder,” he said and walked to his seat beside my mom. 

“How are the exams going Parker?” my mom asked breaking the awkward silence. I sent her a thankful smile and looked to Parker as he spoke, “I’ve only had one so far but I studied hard so hopefully it was enough.” “I’m sure you’ll pass it, if you studied and did your best that’s all you can do,” my dad said. “He was up until all hours studying,” his mom chuckled. “Alexa, how are you finding it being back at school?” Alpha Warren asked. 

Pulling my pad to me I wrote and held it up “great, everyone being so nice and helpful. Teachers are extra helpful" he read out for everyone. “When is your next hospital visit?” his mom asked. 'Next week, they're gonna do more tests on my voice box and another scan' I wrote. Well hopefully your voice returns soon and we can all move on from this, Zara?” she said and turned to my mom. “I was wondering about Grace’s sixteenth birthday, are you planning on having a party for her? Our hall is always open if you wish to use it.” I tuned out and dropped my eyes to my plate as I pushed my mashed potato and veg around (I still couldn’t eat solid foods) 

“What’s on your mind babe?” Parked murmured in my ear a while later. I lifted my head and smiled at him before shaking my head to brush him off. He leaned in a little closer, “I know you better than that,” he said and turned towards my parents, “would you guys mind if Alexa and I went for a walk?” “No not at all," my mom smiled. "Boring you son?” my dad chuckled. Parker chuckled too and stood up, “we’re not quite ready for the adult talk just yet.” I stood up and smiled at everyone before following Parker out the door. "You keep my daughter safe Parker!” my dad called after him. “I give you my word!” he called back and led me out the front door. 

Walking around the side of my house I gasped as I was pushed against the wall and Parker moved closer to me, resting his hands on my hips he leaned in and kissed me sweetly, “are you gonna tell me what’s going on in that beautiful brain of yours?” I sighed heavily and looked away from him, “babe?” he frowned and tugged my face back to him. Patting my pockets I pulled out my phone and typed a message, turning it to face him I looked away again. Part of me didn’t even know why I was acting like this. 

PARKER'S POV 

 “Can we not talk about this now? I already feel like s**t over the way my dad spoke to you,” I read out loud. I knew since her dad’s outburst there was something bothering her, it sounds weird but I could sense the change in her mood. “Alex, it’s not your fault there’s no need to feel bad, look babe, we knew this wasn’t going to be easy. We knew there was a chance he’d go off on one.” 

She scoffed and pushed me away from her before trying to walk away....what the hell is wrong with her? “Alex,” I growled and whirled her to face me, “what’s going on here? Why are you so mad at me?” I asked confused. She unlocked her phone and began to type quickly, I stood there and waited for her to finish. Shoving the phone into my chest she walked off and sat on a garden bench down the back of her yard. Watching her stomp away I sighed heavily, I really had no idea what was going on here, looking down at the phone my eyes went wide.

'I'm pissed off with this whole thing Parker! I hate sneaking around with you! I hate not being able to defend you! I hate the way my dad spoke to you! I hate not being able to do anything with you! I'm sick of the whole damn!! Maybe we're not meant to be together!!!‘.I swallowed the lump in my throat as my eyes watered, did she really want to end us? Blinking the tears away I walked down to her and sat beside her, “Alex,” I sighed, “you love me, you know I love you, you know we’re meant to be together. The only thing holding us back here is your dad which was your choice to keep from him. Just give me a nod and I’ll walk in there right now and tell him, I’m not giving up on us I don’t care what I have to do.” 

She wiped her eyes and took her phone from my hands, typing a quick message she handed it back to me. 'I'm sorry I don't know what's wrong with me' I sat back and put my arm around her shoulder, “you’re stressed out babe, you’re overwhelmed and worried and thinking about too much. You need to let off some steam, do you want to go on a little run? Our wolves haven’t officially met yet.” She smiled widely and nodded her head, standing up she pulled me to my feet and stood up on her toes, I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer. 

Lowering my head I stopped inches away from her lips, “please don’t say anything like that again Alex, you almost crushed me. I love you with everything I’ve got and I’m never ever letting you go,” I murmured and kissed her. 

ALEXA'S POV 

 “Thank you Alexa!” Faye squealed as she zoomed through the woods weaving around trees and ploughing through bushes. She giggled as Parker’s wolf Theo nipped at her back ankles and tackled her to the ground. Nipping at her neck he touched his snout against hers before jumping off her and barking excitedly. I couldn’t help but laugh as he ran and jumped into the lake. “Oh Alexa can I? Please?” she begged. “Go for it,” I laughed, she was having so much fun who was I to ruin it? I sucked in a deep breath as the cold water hit me before a warm feeling washed over me making me relax. 

A few minutes later Faye startled me, “Theo said Parker wants you to shift for a few minutes.” “No! I’ll be naked!” I shrieked. “So? He’s our mate, he's gonna see everything eventually....plus we’re in the lake, he won’t see much,” she replied. “Fine,” I groaned and shifted back to myself. I swam back a little as Theo paddled towards me. By the time he got to me Parker had returned, “couldn’t resist having a little water fun of our own,” he said and wrapped his arms around me. 

Smirking I wrapped my legs around him and pulled myself onto him. He gripped my hips and looked into my eyes, “you do know we’re both naked right? That something could just slide in somewhere?” he said and pushed against me. I bit my lip as fire tore through me, I’d never wanted anything so bad in my life as much as I wanted him right now. “Baby stop with the lip,” he groaned, “it drives me crazy. I’m already using all of my restraints to stop myself from having you right here,” he groaned. 

Pecking him quickly I jumped down off of him and splashed him before swimming away. “You’re gonna pay for that!” he yelled and swam after me. Giggling to myself I swam to the edge and jumped up onto it....completely forgetting I was naked. He swam towards me as his eyes raked up and down my body. Realising my mistake I went to jump back in “don’t!” He yelled making me stop. Getting to me he leaned up to me, “don’t you hide that beautiful body from me,” he murmured and kissed me slowly. I deepened the kiss and ran my hands up his wet chest, man he felt so good! I couldn’t wait for Friday to come. He groaned and pecked me a few times before pulling back, “it’s getting late, we should head back. Nodding I pulled my legs out of the water and let Faye take control again. 

Arriving back at my house he pulled me back just as we got to the front door, “Friday cannot come quick enough, three more days,” he sighed and kissed me sweetly. I smiled and leaned back into him wrapping my arms around him tight. No my handsome man, Friday could not come quick enough!! 

JADE'S POV

 Thursday morning I climbed out of Parker’s car and muttered a goodbye before dragging myself into the school. All my friends had abandoned me, people stared at me, some even picked on me. ‘No one wants to be associated with the sister of a psychopath who tried to kill an innocent girl in front of the whole school ’ as my ex best friend told me. They didn’t care that I was the Alpha’s daughter or that I’d done nothing wrong, all I was now was someone to stay away from and pick on....thank you dear brother. 

Parker and my parents had asked me had anything at school changed for me or was anyone bothering me and I’d lied and said no everything was fine. I didn’t want to cause any more trouble for anyone. Getting closer to my locker I stopped and groaned as I spotted that i***t Dionne that follows my brother around like a lost puppy standing in front of it with her i***t friends. Looking down at my watch I let out a heavy sigh, I’d only five minutes before the bell went. I was hoping I could come back in a few minutes and they’d be gone. 

Squaring my shoulders I started to walk towards them, my dad told me never to let anyone know you fear them and that’s exactly what I was gonna do! “sorry girls, I need to get into my locker,” I said and pointed behind them. Dionne stopped her conversation and looked me up and down with disgust, “are you talking to me runt?” she hissed. “uh yeah, you deaf? There’s no one else here.” “What did you say to me!?” she screeched. “I said are you deaf,” I said a little louder. She shot her hand out and slapped me across the face before grabbing my shirt and slamming me into the lockers. “How dare you speak to me like that! I’m your future Luna, you better watch how you talk to me!” 

“Future Luna?” I laughed, “since when? Last time I checked Parker hated you.” She lashed out and slapped me again, “we’re just having a little space after what happened, trust me he loves me, I will be Luna.” I laughed again, “aw Dionne you delusional, Parker can’t stand you.” She raised her hand and went to hit me again. A growl came from beside us before her arm was grabbed and she was tore away from me and slammed into the locker beside me. I looked over expecting to see Parker, my eyes went wide when it was Alexa who had her pinned and was up in her face. 

“Oh and what are you gonna do dork? I swear once I become Luna you’ll be the first thing to go!” Dionne yelled. Alexa's eyes turned black, I could see her hand curl into a fist and shake by her side. Before I could register anything she stepped back, “thought so,” Dionne scoffed. Alexa pulled her arm back and launched it into her face not once but twice before Dionne sunk to the floor screaming....All I could do was laugh. 

PARKER'S POV 

 I rounded the corner just in time to see Alexa punch Dionne and jump in front of Jade as one of Dionne’s friends went for her. She pulled Jade behind her and backed away to put some space between them. “I’ll kill you!” Dionne screamed and pulled herself to her feet. f**k no you wont!!! “what’s going on here?” I yelled causing them all to look towards me. “Babe, that b***h was picking on your sister, when I tried to help her she turned around and punched me,” Dionne whimpered as she hurried to me. 

I looked to Alexa to see her roll her eyes, I chuckled and looked at my sister, “Jade what happened?” “That psycho there slapped me and shoved me into my locker,” she replied pointing to Dionne. “Alexa intervened then she started talking crazy s**t about being the next Luna so Alexa punched her,” she laughed. I looked to Alexa and smirked, my baby got jealous, f**k that was hot. Turning to Dionne I took a step closer to her, “you ever and I mean ever, touch my sister again and you’ll find yourself in the cells for a while. You’ll never be my Luna Dionne, if I hear this off anyone else well, it’ll be worse than the cells....now f**k off!” I growled. 

“But you love me! I Know you do! I Will be your Luna Parker!” she screeched. “Like f**k you will! I don’t love you you’re a skank that I slept with a few times nothing more!” I heard Alexa sigh beside me before she grabbed Jade's hand and dragged her down the hall and into the bathrooms....maybe I shouldn’t have said that last part in front of Alexa. “I mean it Dionne, cop the f**k on! You’re not part of my life whatsoever. I’ve already found my Luna and it sure as hell ain’t you!” I hissed and took off after Alexa. 

Walking into the bathroom I closed the door locked it, Alexa was pacing like crazy while Jade stood by the sinks watching her, “is she broken or something?” She asked once she spotted me. “No,” I chuckled, “Alex?” I said and took a step forward. “Alex?” I tried again when she didn’t stop. “Babe?” I said loud enough, she stopped pacing and looked at me, “calm down,” I said and walked to her. 

“Babe?” Jade frowned? “did you just call her babe?” “s**t, forgot you were here Jade,” I replied. Alexa giggled and wrapped her arms around my waist. I chuckled and pulled her into me, “mom and dad know so you may as well too, but you have to swear not to tell anyone, not even Grace. “Swear,” she said and held up her hand. “Alexa is my mate,” I said smiling down on her, “wow, okay, cool....that explains the anger at the Luna comment,” she chuckled. “I’m gonna get to class, see you two lovebirds later!” she called on her way out....my sister was a weird one. 

ALEXA'S POV 

It was now Thursday evening and I was so excited, one more day until I got to spend the whole weekend alone with Parker. He'd finished his exams today and was just waiting for the results, I know he passed all of them I can feel it. I had just showered and got myself into my pjs, my homework was done my stuff was ready for school tomorrow. My plan for the rest of the evening was to get my bag ready for the weekend and chill out in bed with Netflix. 

My mom knew where I was going but I’d told my dad Callie and I were going away for the weekend, it was a late birthday present from her. Thankfully she'd told me she was going to visit her grandparents with her mom so she’d be gone all weekend too. Thank the Goddess they were living in a pack miles away! Pulling down my travel bag I flung it on my bed and started to pull clothes out, Parker had told me we were going to have our first date on Saturday. To which I’d argued that our ice cream date was our first date but whatever, I was still getting a date. 

Pulling out two dresses I held them up, I’d bought both ages ago but had never worn them. Deciding I liked the blue one better than the yellow one I flung the blue one onto my bed and went to hang the yellow one back up. I groaned as it missed the rail and fell behind my stack of junk I had shoved in there. Bending down I banged my head off something hard, “oww!” I hissed and put my hand over my head. Pulling back quickly I shot up straight and gasped did I? DID I JUST TALK!? 

“Yes honey you did, try it again,” Faye said excitedly. “Hi Faye,” I said happily and flung my hand over my mouth no way! No freaking way!!! “Faye I can talk! I can talk!” I cried happily. Now, I did sound like someone who smoked forty cigarettes a day for fifty years but who cares? I COULD TALK!! “I can hear you Alexa, I’m so happy for you right now!” she squealed. “I gotta call Parker!” I gasped and ran for my phone. I was so excited as I punched in his number. 

“Why don’t you keep it a surprise until tomorrow?” Faye suggested. I sat down on my bed and thought for a moment, it would be a good surprise, and I did want him to be the first to hear me. “Yeah, I think I’ll do that,” I said and threw my phone down. Standing up I walked to my drawers and pulled the top one open, “come on Faye, gotta make ourselves extra sexy for our mate,” I giggled. I still couldn’t believe that I’d just spoken!! 

PARKER'S POV 

 I swear that was the longest day of my life! It was now Friday afternoon....my weekend alone with my beautiful Alexa started in one hour. To say I was excited would be the understatement of the century! I couldn’t wait to hold her in my arms, to wake up beside her, to just be with her. Skidding to a stop outside my house I jumped out of my car and ran inside, I’d played hoops with Aaron on lunch today I needed a shower. 

“Hey mom! Hey dad!” I called as I ran by them on the stairs. “Whoa! Where’s the fire!?” my dad called after me. “My weekend with Alexa! Sorry dad!” I yelled and ran into my room. Stripping as I hurried to the bathroom I turned on the water and didn’t bother waiting for it to heat up before stepping under it. Washing myself quickly I turned off the water and jumped out, wrapping a towel around myself I walked into my room and towards the clothes I had already laid out. Just as I was dressed a knock came to my door, “yeah?” I called back and sprayed some aftershave on me before tossing it into my bag. 

“What’s up dad?” I asked as he walked into my room. “I need to talk you before you go,” he said and sat on my bed. “If it’s the s*x talk you’re a little late,” I chuckled. “No,” he chuckled back, “it’s about Alexa’s father.” Now he had my full attention, “okay,” I nodded. “Parker you’re both going to have to tell him soon, it’s really not fair that your mother and I know and her mother and brother know too.” “I know dad, this is Alexa’s choice, she wants to wait until she can talk again. She thinks with nothing hanging over us he’ll accept us quicker,” I replied. 

My dad nodded and stood up, “hopefully that will be soon I’d hate for someone to let it slip before you tell him, he’ll never accept you then....have a great time son,” he smiled and walked out of my room. “Phone, keys, money, clothes, shower stuff, Alexa’s present, charger, aftershave...I’m good to go,” I said and slung my nag over my shoulder. “Bye mom and dad!” I yelled as I ran out of the house. 

Pulling up at the hotel I grabbed my bag and made my way inside, walking to the man on the desk I smiled, “hi, I’ve to collect a key, room is under the name Alexa Keane.” He tapped away and nodded his head, “yes sir, Miss Keane is checked in already, I’ll just get the key for you,” he said and hurried away. Coming back a minute later he held out a keycard, “three floors up room three two five, enjoy your stay.” “Thank you!” I called and made my was towards the elevators. I couldn't contain my excitement!! 

Getting off on the third floor I hurried down to our room and let myself in, closing the door behind me I found her lying on the bed watching tv, “hey beautiful,” I smiled. She sat up and smiled widely, “hey baby,” she replied. My mouth fell open, my bag fell off my shoulder. Was I hearing things? Did she talk? My eyes filled with tears of happiness.
