chapter 12

2007 Words
"Here you are", she said seeing her charger. She thought that she had forgotten it at home, so she decided to call Tasha first after noticing all the missed calls that she had left on her phone. Listening to the call going through, she finally heard the connecting sound and Tasha screaming out in joy from the other side of the call. " Hey friend, how are you doing? u was worried sick about you", she spoke out and Yvonne feeling happy to hear from her again, told her that she was fine. Asking where her friend was, Yvonne turned to the side and looked at Gael and his mother, telling Tasha that she was in a farm settlement with a very nice woman. "Farm settlement?" Tasha asked standing up from her seat with a concerned tone. Yvonne told her to calm down and not to bother because she was fine. Asking Tasha whether she wanted to talk with Gael's mother in order to know that she was fine, Tasha denied and told her to hurry and get back home. "Yes, ma'am I will". With a smile on her face, she hung up the phone and turned to face Gael and his mother, the poor lady was already scared because of the conversation that she had listened to. Detecting how tense the atmosphere was, she walked lamely closer to her with a smile telling her not to be sad as no one was going to come to bother her. Listening to the lightning that was sounding in the sky, she felt frightened and Gael could see that but the breeze that was blowing out there reminded her of where she was in a raw environment. The weather had changed and Gael came closer to Yvonne and sat down beside her. He was surprised at her simplicity and he had come to understand that she was behaving the way she always does just because she wished to shield herself from the hurts of the world. Gaels mom had a problem with the ingredients that were needed in the kitchen. Calling on him to come by, Yvonne wondered why she had to be cooking in the night and her body was already itching her as she had no bath. Remembering that she was in a rural area, she thought of asking Gael where they are as it seemed far but his facial expression with that of his mother had changed. Noticing his mother looked worried, she asked her what the matter was but she said it was nothing. Raising her gaze to her son, she felt embarrassed about the situation and Gael did not like keeping money at his house, and also the little change he had inside his wallet was not enough. " I don't want to bother you dear it's nothing". "You are not a bother to me ma'am as you have harbored me in your house without any trouble not knowing who I am or where I am coming from," she mumbled. Her words were so soothing that his mother felt like she had always known her for a long period. Lowering her gaze, she told Yvonne that the stove had just turned off and the oil was finished as well. Yvonne felt bad about how basic things like that could be a major problem to some people. Turning her eyes to Gael as though she was disappointed in him, she asked how much everything cost and his mom responded, "It cost five thousand francs CFA". Wondering in her what five thousand francs was, Yvonne picked up her bag and taking out her wallet, counted some money and handed over fifty thousand francs CFA to her. Shocked by what had just happened, Gael opened his mouth as his mother counted the cash in front of him, and with tears in her eyes, she said, " I asked for five thousand dearly but this is fifty thousand francs, I can't accept it". Yvonne let out a smile and without any pressure, she reminded his mom how she helped her and took care of her without even knowing who she is nor where she was coming from, so that was her little ash of showing appreciation. Her eyes were filled with so much joy but tears could not stop flowing down her eyes. Moved by her kind gesture, Gael thanked her but Yvonne immediately giving him a spiteful look notified him that she did not do that to him but for his mom. Gaels mom could see that both of them had a pending issue that she did not have to get involved. "You both remind me so much of my youthful relationship with Gael's dad," she murmured but Yvonne being quick to reject her thoughts, turned her face to the other side of the yard. "Who told you that I want to have such a naughty human being for a wife," his words hurt and at that point, his mother asked them to stop and make peace. Not being able to keep a serious face for long with the kind of movie that she was watching, she asked why they were always on each other's toes but Yvonne said that Gael was just the opposite of his mom, narrated how he only causes her nothing but troubles. His mother told Gael to get some money and go down the road to get a new stove and also with some oil which he did as the weather was changing. "I think I need to go then, it is obvious that the rain will pour out much won't have to be at home before it starts," she muttered. But Gael quickly asking her not to leave, left Yvonne and his mother dump founded as they looked at him in surprise in wonder to what he was making an effort to say. "What I meant by that is the fact that it is late and your leg is still not healed, so you can spend the night here," he strived to defend himself but Yvonne did not know whether it was a good idea as she had never spent the night in such a place. "Are you scared Yvonne?" his mom asked but she could not answer her question, but Gael telling her that she had nothing to be scared of, made Yvonne more frightened actually. She looked at her car for some seconds and Gael noticing the direction of her eyes, calmly said, "We do not steal here". That was solacing as she had no idea of how they function there. Taking a deep breath and letting it out, she looked at the start of her leg without any hopes of surfing alone, she accepted to sleep but first asked that she needed to bathe and have a change of clothes cuz she could not sleep in what she was wearing. " No have no problem with that, I will send you some clothes though they see not as classic and beautiful like the ones you are used to with, they are comfortable". His mom tried her best to be as friendly as possible and it was because Yvonne was a kind-hearted person as well. Leaving them to go purchase what he was sent to get, Yvonne stayed back with his mom and he knew that there was nothing to fear. Noticing that her son had left and was far, she walked closer to her with a smile, and sitting next to Yvonne, Gael's mother was curious to know how such a beautiful and wealthy lady had known her son. She did not see her son with so many people most especially ladies so she was very curious to know how they had met. Clearing her throat and mustering the courage to ask Yvonne her questions, she looked towards the stove once more to have a check that she had closed her pot. It was an honor for her to meet Yvonne because her son's friends did not come home regularly but when she asked, Yvonne told her politely how she had met Gael and also added that they were not friends. But what his mother told her, made the situation to be a little bit different as she began to see him differently and tried to understand him more. She realized that they had started on wrong for and that was why there was so much tension between them. The anger in her face was slowly disappearing and a strong breeze began passing. It was so hard that she thought it was going to carry her skinny self away. "Do not be scared, it is the rain that is coming," she muttered but you are still cooking what will happen now or will you take it inside and continue the process because it is going to be difficult out here but Gael's mom shaking her head, anticipated that the rain will only plunge when she must have finished with what she as doing outside. Tasha could not find some sleep so she wanted to call her friend again, but she stopped for a moment not knowing what it was a good idea or not. Thinking to herself what she had done by giving the job to someone like Gael, she felt scared of not knowing the outcome of things as she did not know where the location of his house was but Knew the name. "Who will go to such a place to look for you, Yvonne? things were not supposed to turn out this way," she mumbled. Her heartbeat raised than the usual one but there was something about Gael that was tryst worthy and so she felt like she did not have any reasons to worry. Going to the kitchen to get a bottle of water like she always did every night before going to bed, she could listen to the sound of heavy rainfall from outside which gave her a cold sensation that moved all around her body. Gael was back with the items and immediately he got home, the rain turned on leading him happy that it did not get to meet him outside. His mother told him to take Yvonne behind the house where could have her bath and the expression on Yvonne's face was that of a scared person. Swallowing the lump that jar formed up in her throat, she felt sweat come down her back. "You don't need to be afraid, I will wait for you," he muttered. Yvonne looked at Gael keenly and noticed that he was not as bad as she was seeing him, maybe because it was the conversation that she had engaged with his mom that made her opinion towards him change. Turning her head to look at his mom, she felt realized just by looking at her and the joy she felt each time she spoke to her, made Yvonne feel at home. Gael told Yvonne to let him carry her inside, he also added that he has a pair of new towels that she could use. His mother was happy to see them like that without quarreling and she already liked Yvonne so much without even being able to explain why she was feeling that way. She connected the stove and continued cooking before it got too late. Yvonne was in Gael's arms and there was nothing more beautiful than feeling his cycles holding her while he could not stop smelling her hair with the fragrance from her body. "She is not only beautiful but she smells food as well," Gael murmured in his heart while feeling a hardness in his trousers. Twisting his face in confusion, he was embarrassed by the situation and wished that Yvonne does not notice what was happening to him. It was very unlike him to get an erection carelessly and in such a situation but having a thin sentiment for her after all the good things he had observed about her, he could not help but feel for her.
