He hung up the call feeling lost for a moment and veering around to get back into the house, he saw his mom waiting for him by the entrance.
" I gave attention to your dialogue so start talking Gael", she insisted. His mouth drawn backward with his eyes opened, he could not begin to start discussing such a matter with his mom so he knew he had to come up with a story to get out of that situation.
"Mom, I was talking to a friend and I wanted her to come to pick up Yvonne", he spoke out but his mother confused, asked who Yvonne was and Gael said that she was the lady inside the house. Not being able to believe his story, his mother asked him whether he was his girlfriend but Gael's reaction got her so worried that she had to confirm that her son was hiding something from her.
" Mother, she is not my girlfriend and I cannot be the boyfriend of such a spoilt brat who is so full of herself", he responded.
"If she is not your girlfriend then she has no place in my house, let me go and wake her up", his mother mumbled while turning to get into the house when all of a sudden Gael stopped her saying,
" Mommy, you will not understand if I explain anything but be rest assured, that anything I am doing, is for your good, trust me on this", he pleaded with his mom.
"What then are you hiding from me Gael, remember you always tell me everything, or are you now a sugar boy?", her words hurt him so badly but he had no choice, she did not have to know his deal.
She could not place her hands on what the matter was but the only thing she told him was that she was hoping that he was not in any sort of trouble because she was not going to intervene like she always did with his ex-girlfriend Lisa.
Gael promised his mother that there was nothing to worry about. Just as they were talking, his mother thought back to the pot that was on the fire so she rushed to check up on it.
" Oh my God, I do not think I will be able to keep up with this lie much longer, my mom is a real curios person", Gael's mind was a jumble but he had to play along with the normal mood so as not to make her more suspicious than she was already.
Yvonne's eyes were shaking and could be seen slowly opening up. Her hands as well began changing positions. Lifting her hand and touching her head, she opened her eyes fully though her first vision was blurred.
"What happened to me?", she questioned, turning her head and looking around. The wet towel on her head made her realize that something was happening to her. Yvonne had not yet noticed where she was but she tried to recall what had happened to her and her thoughts took her back to her argument with Gael on the road.
" I passed out on the road and he left me", she spoke out recalling that he was walking away from her when she had lost consciousness. Her eyes narrowed to the walls of a house and it looked like a little hut to her.
"Where am I?", she probed herself but her mind was immediate, her head spun to the side where she saw a big rat staring at her. Yvonne who had never seen a rat that was closed to her, remained still on the mat while pulling herself backward.
The stoolie just sat there and was looking at her and Yvonne, shedding tears as she was not used to having them, her mouth let out a huge scream that attracted Gael and his mother who were outside.
Yvonne had managed to get on her feet running to the open outlet that was in front of her. Calling for help, Gael was heading to the door as well and Yvonne without looking at where she was going to, bumped into Gael on the door fighting her way out with her eyes closed.
" What is the matter my dear, who is causing you from our house", his mother muttered but Yvonne who was so scared, could not open her eyes and all she was screaming was,
"There is a fat rat in here, a huge one and it was looking at me". Gaels mom walked into the house to see what she was talking about, but she could not find any rat inside the house. Despite that, she was still aware that there were many rats in her house and she felt embarrassed that it had frightened her guest or so it looks like.
" I am sorry that you had to lice something like this little one, hope you are better", her soft voice made her open her eyes to catch a glimpse of the person who was talking to her. At the sight of her, she saw a beautiful woman with the soot of grey hair on the front of her head with deep blue eyes.
Her beauty was very striking though one could see that it was covered with suffering. Her smile was unique while she was very slim and looked kind of sick. Yvonne smile back at her saying,
"Thank you Ma'am, but do I know you?, and where am I?", she inquire before thinking of taking up her head to see the person who was holding her. Her gaze had finally met Gaels who was so concerned about her and she screamed out,
" You again?", she screamed out forgetting that her leg was hurting and wanting to push Gael away, she lost her stamina and almost fell to the ground but he held her back to him whispered to her ears,
"Can you stop acting like a spoilt brat?". But Yvonne not even knowing where she was, scolded him with a lot of threats saying that she was going to beat him up if he doesn't take her out of there. Pausing for a minute, she gradually veered around her head in the direction where his mother was standing. Taking a closer look at her and bringing back her head towards Gael, she swallowed the saliva that had established in her throat making it to pain and with a soft voice she asked,
" Are you his mother ma'am?". Her eyes looked around and seeing her car she tried to join the missing pieces of what was happening.
"Yes I am his mom and I am pleased to meet you ma'am", she responded. Yvonne trembled at the hearing of that and feeling all happy, she greeted her saying that she was sorry for her behavior earlier
" Please call me Yvonne, I don't have the right to be called ma'am by an elderly person", she narrated. Trying to move a step back, her leg hurt her so much, and taking a look at it, it had swollen up.
"Oh, my goodness, what happened to her leg Gael, you did not even show me when you brought her in", his mother yelled out but Gael too had forgotten that she had a sprain. It was swollen and visible.
" Let me carry you so that you can have a seat", Gael spoke out but Yvonne not being able to contain her anger for him, slapped his hand off while saying that it was his fault because if not for his senseless girlfriend who had pushed her down on the beach, her leg will still be fine.
His mother standing by the fireside to boil some water to press her leg asked what she meant by that, and only then did Yvonne come back to her senses as she realized that his mother was there. Covered with shame, she apologized to his mom and thanked her so much for taking care of her. Her heart was filled with joy to know that there were still some good people around but she had to go to her house.
"No way, you are not going to your house with that swollen leg and you cannot even walk talk less of driving with that", she cit her short and with a curious stare, she did not want to ask her son who the lady Yvonne was referring to was.
" Ma'am, I am so sorry that we had to meet under such terrible circumstances and I also want to apologize for being so harsh to your son in front of you, the truth is that, his heart nerves me so much so I have to go".
Gael not knowing what to do, saw a sign from his mother, as she used her eyes to tell him not to let her go. Feeling embarrassed by the situation, Yvonne struggled to walk to her car but the pain was just too much for her to bear, and feeling a hand tap her from behind, Gael apologized to her for being such a pain in the butt.
He told her not to leave in such a situation and admitting that his house might not be as beautiful as the castle that she was used to living in, he concluded with words like, they live happily as a family. Yvonne was touched by his sincere words that she pulled herself from the pillars that were supporting his house and sitting down on the little bench that was by the side, she let out a deep sigh.
"I do not know you Yvonne and I know that you are not used to our way of living here, but it is getting too late and besides your leg is swollen and needs to be massaged. Let me make a delicious soup for you okay?", his mother spoke out.
Gael could not understand the reason why his mother was so attached to Yvonne but he was aware that, his mother was a very selective person whose instincts were very strong, so if she was attached to someone, that only meant that the person is a nice somebody.
Tasha had been ringing Yvonne's phone for a long, but she could not be reached because her phone was inside the car. Insisting on the calls, she had no other option but to ring Gaels' phone. His phone thumped in his pocket and he had to accuse himself to pick it up when he noticed that Tasha was the person calling.
" Hello", he answered.
"Gael, what is happening to my friend, why is she not picking up her calls?", she asked concerned but telling her not to worry as she was sound and safe, Tasha demanded to talk to her immediately so Gael had to get away so that she will talk to Tasha without looking suspicious.
" Okay, I will get her to talk to you, let me just get a plan", he told.
Tasha felt a bit relieved knowing that Yvonne was okay, but she had to make sure that she was very fine. Gael walked towards her car with the phone in his ear, and turning to Yvonne, he mumbled that her phone was ringing inside the car.
"Oh, really?", she asked trying to get to but his mother asked her not to and instead instructed Gael to get her phone from her car. Yvonne had forgotten that she was having a phone and the stress and all that had completely taken over her reasoning.
Unlocking the doors and getting her bag, Gael closed them back and brought her bag to her. She showed him appreciation while taking out her phone from one of the corner pockets.
" She is really beautiful and lively don't you think?", his mother spoke out making Gael look at Yvonne otherwise. Not wanting to get out of his mission, he nodded to his mother's question with a smile on his face.
