Chapter 1: The Night of the Blood Moon
The night Seraphina Vale’s life changed forever began like any other ordinary evening.
The wind moved gently through the tall oak trees that surrounded the quiet town of Blackthorn. Streetlights flickered on one by one, casting soft golden circles on the pavement as night slowly claimed the sky. People moved through their routines—cars passing, distant laughter from a nearby café, the faint hum of music drifting from open windows.
Everything felt normal.
Too normal.
Seraphina stood by the window of her small bedroom, staring up at the sky with a strange feeling she couldn’t explain.
Something about tonight felt… different.
Her long dark hair fell loosely around her shoulders as she rested her arms against the windowsill. The cool night air brushed against her skin, carrying with it the scent of rain and forest.
Then she saw it.
The moon.
It was enormous… and red.
Not the soft silver moon she had grown used to seeing every night. This one burned in the sky like a glowing ember, casting a crimson light over the town.
“A blood moon,” she whispered quietly.
A chill ran down her spine.
Seraphina had always loved the night sky. But tonight, something about the moon made her uneasy—as if it was watching her.
Or waiting for her.
Behind her, the door creaked open.
“You’re staring at it again, aren’t you?”
Seraphina turned to see her grandmother standing in the doorway.
Evelyn Vale was a small woman with silver hair tied neatly into a bun, but her sharp green eyes missed nothing. She had raised Seraphina since she was a child and had always been unusually protective of her.
Especially on nights like this.
Seraphina sighed slightly.
“It’s just a moon, Grandma.”
Evelyn didn’t move from the doorway.
Her expression darkened as she looked at the sky behind Seraphina.
“That,” she said slowly, “is not just a moon.”
Seraphina frowned.
Her grandmother walked into the room and gently pulled the curtains closed, blocking the crimson glow from entering.
“You should not be looking at it,” Evelyn said firmly.
“Why?”
Evelyn hesitated.
For a moment it looked like she was debating whether to say something.
But then she shook her head.
“Because some things in this world,” she said quietly, “are not meant for you to see yet.”
Seraphina rolled her eyes.
Her grandmother had always said strange things like that—mysterious warnings, cryptic stories about things hiding in the dark.
When Seraphina was younger, they used to terrify her.
Now they just confused her.
“Grandma,” she said with a small laugh, “you make it sound like something supernatural is going to come knocking on our door.”
Evelyn didn’t laugh.
Instead, her eyes slowly moved toward the window again.
“That,” she murmured, “is exactly what I’m afraid of.”
Before Seraphina could ask what she meant, a sudden sharp pain shot through her chest.
She gasped.
Her knees buckled slightly as she grabbed the edge of the table for support.
“Seraphina?” Evelyn rushed forward.
The pain spread through her body like fire in her veins.
Her heart pounded violently.
And suddenly—
She heard something.
A voice.
Not outside.
Not in the room.
Inside her head.
She has awakened.
Seraphina froze.
The voice was deep… ancient… and terrifyingly powerful.
“What… was that?” she whispered.
Her grandmother’s face had gone completely pale.
Outside, the wind suddenly roared through the trees like a storm had awakened from nowhere.
The house lights flickered.
Then went out.
Darkness swallowed the room.
Seraphina’s breathing became shallow as a strange energy rushed through her body. Her fingers trembled as she lifted her hands.
A faint red glow appeared beneath her skin.
Her grandmother stepped back slowly.
Fear filled her eyes.
“No,” Evelyn whispered.
“No… it’s too soon.”
The red light grew stronger.
The air in the room began to vibrate.
And then—
BOOM.
The window exploded inward as a powerful gust of wind tore through the house.
Glass shattered across the floor.
Seraphina screamed as she stumbled backward.
Outside, the Blood Moon burned brighter than ever.
And somewhere far beyond the town of Blackthorn…
Two powerful supernatural beings lifted their heads toward the sky at the exact same moment.
A vampire prince sitting upon a dark throne.
And a werewolf alpha standing deep within the forest.
Both felt it.
The same powerful surge of magic.
The same awakening.
The same girl.
Lucien Nightfall’s crimson eyes slowly opened.
A cold smile touched his lips.
“So,” he murmured softly.
“The prophecy has begun.”
Miles away in the shadowed forest, Kael Stormborn’s golden eyes glowed in the darkness.
His wolf growled deep in his chest.
Because somewhere in the world…
His mate had just awakened.
And neither of them knew it yet—
But the Blood Moon had chosen its queen.
And the supernatural world would never be the same again.
