Chapter 3

1033 Words
I was awakened when I heard someone screaming. A lot of noises filled my room, and all were coming from outside. "What the h*ll is happening? " I asked myself. I went out of my room and checked what's happening outside. But then I stopped when I saw my Dad eating my Mom's flesh. My world stopped from turning, my heat pumps rapidly. For goodness sake, what is happening with them? "J-Justin---" my Mom uttered, and suddenly fell to the floor. I am trembling in fear, and I don't know what to do. I ran immediately to my room and shut the door. I began packing my things and escaping our home, by the exit in my room. "Why is it happening? Is this what they called a zombie outbreak?" I asked myself and walked like nothing happened inside our house. I'm trying to figure out everything, hoping that I am only dreaming. I paused for a moment when I saw my reflection in the parlor's mirror. Is this really me? How does it come to be what I look like in the age of 19? "Is this really happening?" I look around, and I want to warn the people surrounding me, but I'm afraid that they might laugh and judge me. I was about to walk again, when I saw a girl running. "Zombies... the zombies are coming!" she yelled and tears from her eyes escaped. I ran and jumped into a car that was parked in the garage. I immediately drove away, while my tears flowed. This can't be happening! The car suddenly stopped, because it was drained. I cuss and start walking, while roaming my sight along the way. I am very thankful that I found a safe place for me to rest for a while. This place is peaceful, and currently a zombie free zone. "Mommy, Nanny, and Daddy." I cried while hugging myself. I don't know how this happened. Did we travel to our future? Or maybe someone invented this spreading virus? This is pretty insane! I paused for a moment when I heard something behind me. I slowly turn my gaze to it, and my system seems paralyzed upon seeing my parents with their creepy looks. A bunch of zombies are attacking me. I don't know what to do! My Mom started to step towards me, and she was about to bite me when someone grabs my hands and we run as fast as we can . He is a boy, a handsome boy. "What's happening?" I asked fearfully when I noticed that he was holding a gun. "There is a zombie outbreak. It's horrible, I can't even find the reason on why it happens!" he exclaimed. I looked at his wrist watch, but I was surprised at what I saw. "Mr. can I ask something?" I politely asked. "What is it?" "The date on your watch isn't correct right?" I said. He just shook his head. "Everything was all correct. Today is December 01, 2033, where the world is now full of zombies!" he replied. I am really confused. Year 2033? Am I just dreaming? "I'm Clint Louis, and you are? " "I am Elle," I replied . His mouth curved into a smile. "Nice meeting you Elle," he said. I just nod, and can't help from trembling in fear. This is odd, because I'm not fun to be with new people. But in this case, I have no other choice but to be with this man. "We are now safe here," he said and headed me to his house. The house was surrounded by thorns, the gate was strong and his house has four floors. "Is there someone else living here, aside from you?" I asked as we walked upstairs. He shook his head. " My parents are not here. They are in America," he said. That answer is familiar. This place is familiar to me, I wonder if I've been there before. "You are sweating," he said. "Use my extra shirt, you may have a shower over there." I smiled at him. "Thank you so much, Louis!" "You're always welcome, Elle!" He smiled. "Feel at home, and don't hesitate to ask me if you have some questions." After our conversation, I entered his shower room. As I turn on the shower, my tears run down again. I can't help not to cry. I missed my parents! I'm afraid that maybe, I will never meet them again! Is this the consequence of being a brat, stubborn, and a war freak girl? "Hey, are you alright? " Louis asked as I entered the kitchen. I nod, and fake a smile. "Yes, I am." "Do you still have a friend that was not infected?" I looked at him, and frowned. "I don't have friends, " I answered. "Why?" "Because I hate people! " He laughed. "Really? You're just like her!" he said. "Who?" "My childhood crush," he said. This man is very kind, and he really looks so innocent. I can sense that he is a friendly person, and we are opposite to each other. "Where is she?" I tried to make another conversation with him . This is my first time, talking with a stranger in a very formal way. I don't know, but I just realized that he deserves to be respected and one more thing, he is my hero for this day. "I don't know where she is, " he said and sighed. "Don't worry, you'll find her again soon!" I cheer him up. "I do hope!" After we ate, we immediately went to the rooftop of the second floor. By the street lights on the streets, we can see a crowd of zombies that are scattered everywhere. Is it the end of the world? Is this the last days? Or something more terrible will happen next? "Don't be scared." Louis comforted me. "I will protect you, as long as I'm alive." He smiled at me . "I hate people, but now I hate zombies more than them," I whispered. "Thanks for saving me. I know I'm not worthy to be saved, but still you did." "It is because you really look like her."
