I chose to stay here — in the heart of Duskbane Pack territory — though every passing day makes me question if it was the right choice. The air here feels heavier somehow, colder. The pines whisper secrets I can’t quite understand, and the silence that follows after sunset feels like it’s holding its breath.
The Duskbane wolves have been accommodating, polite even. But kindness doesn’t always mean comfort. Jayla insisted on staying with me while the rest returned home. Shadow remained behind to lead our pack in our absence — dependable, level-headed Shadow. If anything went wrong, I knew he’d hold the fort.
