I fixed my mind on my destination—Ruby’s apartment. My legs carried me faster, every stride fueled by the gnawing need to see him, to make sure he was safe.
“Slow down!” a voice called from behind. “We’re coming with you!”
It was Shadow. His tone was clipped, urgent, and when I glanced back, Jayla was at his side, her pace just as relentless.
