HER OBSESSION

Hannah's pov As I slowly opened my eyes, the warm sunlight streaming through the window greeted me, and I snuggled deeper into the cozy bed. My boyfriend, Alex, was lying beside me, his arm wrapped around my waist, holding me close. I felt a gentle smile spread across my face as I took in the peaceful scene. The sound of birds chirping outside and the soft hum of the air conditioner created a soothing background noise, making it hard to want to get out of bed. Alex stirred slightly and I turned to face him, his eyes fluttering open, and a sleepy smile spread across his face when he saw me looking at him. "Morning, babe," he whispered, his voice husky from sleep. I smiled at him and replied, "Good morning!" He got up to check his phone. "Oh my God I might be late for work" he hurried out of bed. I let my gaze follow him as he rushed to the bathroom. I sighed, I really needed to experience that kind of life where I'll be worried to be late for work. But I had not had a job my entire life. It was getting too much given the fact I had excelled with a first class at campus. I moved downstairs to prepare breakfast, as usual ... I made something simple and fast. After a while, Alex came rushing downstairs, "Thanks babe" he muttered as he hurriedly downed the breakfast. He didn't finish the breakfast, he couldn't and kissed me goodbye before hurrying out of the house. I sighed looking at the door he has just rushed out of, then cleared the table and washed the dishes slowly. ____________________________ I moved to my laptop to check if I had an emails, at this point, I was tired of checking. l sent my resume to different schools to see if I got any job but all of them turned me down. It was tiring, I could not get why. I absentmindedly scrolled through my emails, I wasn't expecting anything but I scrolled none the less. My eyes stopped on one that said congratulations. My fingers quickly tapped away to it and I almost stopped breathing when I read the details. I had got a job, finally. I could not contain my joy. I screamed at the top of my lungs and I'm sure all our neighbors heard me. I rushed to get my phone to call Alex but then stopped myself before I did. 'I should surprise him when he gets back today' I thought to myself. I was glad that finally I was not so dependant on him, it was really stressing me out. He did not complain about my dependency on him, but it still troubled me so much. I went to the market for some shopping, I had to cook something special to celebrate my victory. School was supposed to start the following week so I decided to shop some clothes for work as well. I moved into the mall and started shopping, I got a series of clothes and then I moved to the dressing room to check them out. I entered the room, it was not locked so I assumed it was empty. I entered but froze as soon as I was in, what I found there made my jaw drop. Two girls were all over each other, making out and I was sure if I had come in seconds later, they would be having s*x. They both paused when they saw me there. I was glued to the ground and could not run or turn back. "I'm sorry ma'am" one girl said, she looked seriously scared while the other girl held a smirk. She then looked straight in my eyes and asked, "would you like to join us?!" Join them, what?! I almost choked on my saliva at what she said. Finally I got the strength back in my legs and rushed out. I was breathing hard when I finally got to a stop. What the hell did I just watch. My mind was racing right now. I did not understand why but the scene made me feel so hot. And that other girl, she was not even ashamed. She just held my gaze and invited me. To what?! To join them? What was she even thinking?! A minute or so later, I saw the two girls come out of the dressing room, one having a smug 'I do not give a f**k' look. While the other looked flustered. I didn't want them to see me so I hid behind some curtains to avoid them. "So... uhm, can I get your number?!" the flustered girl asked. Wait, did these two even know each other. The other girl looked at her like she just muttered an insult. "Number?! For what?!" she asked rather coldly raising an eyebrow. The look in her eyes made the other almost crumble. Why could she be that cold to a girl with whom she had her tongue shoved down her throat moments ago. "Aah, so that we can.. like talk... or go out sometime" the timid one answered shyly. The cold girl scoffed, "Look girl, if what we did in there went to your head. it's not my fault. we just had fun" she replied nonchalantly. The other girl looked like she could cry but composed her self quick enough. She nodded and turned the other way to leave. After looking around as though looking for something, the second girl also walked away. **** I returned home with the clothes and food I bought. But my mind could not leave the scene I saw earlier. I had resolved that those two girls did not know each other, but they were about to have s*x. One girl remained attached while the other turned a cold shoulder. I still could not understand why people could easily sleep with someone they did not love. I sighed and started cooking. I finished cooking all the food and waited for Alex to come back for the celebration. As I waited my mind drifted back to the girls. I was not homophobic but I do not know why the scene just could not leave my head. I remembered the way she looked at me and asked me to join them. I felt my body getting hot. I needed a cold bath before my mind short circuited. ____________________________________ Alex arrived home an hour later. I welcomed him and kissed him. Maybe this is what I needed after my long day, a kiss from him. His gaze moved to the overly extravagant dinner on the table. "Babe?! What are we celebrating?!" he asked clearly confused. "Did I forget an anniversary!" he added. "No... it's actually..." I grinned enjoying his suspense. "I got a job" I finally said. My wide grin was slowly wiped off my face as I watched his expression. He did not look as excited as I thought he would, "What?" he asked as though I had openly offended him. "I finally got a job, a certain school accepted me?" I said slowly. "I thought I told you to stop looking for a job, I'm not burdened by you. I can take care of us" he snapped. "But, Alex... I needed a job, that's why I studied to become a teacher, so I can teach" I tried to reason with him. "But if I tell you don't look for a job, then don't!" he shouted at me and moved upstairs to our bedroom. I was left dumbstruck, did I do anything wrong. He was fine just a few moments ago. What happened. Did I offend him or....Then it struck me, he did not want me to get a job. He did not like that I was becoming independent. ††††
