Chapter 1: Unexpected Mate
Allison's Point of View I was born to kill him, but he was born to rule the Lycans. We both had our destinies predetermined; he to lead and me to be his greatest foe. The sight of his vulnerability made my hands clench with rage. Blood dripped from his forehead, but he still gave me a smug look. He laughed sarcastically and c****d his head in disbelief. I’ve spent my entire life preparing for the moment when I could end his life. After everything he had done to me, my family, my pack, and my mate. I know he shouldn’t have been allowed to exist in this world. He deserved the same emotional pain I felt after that tragedy. “You are bold. It’s appealing to me.” He wiped the blood from his forehead and mumbled, “Maybe, you can act like this when we are in my bed.” When he smiled even wider, my anger reached a boiling point. I knew he was playing on my emotions about my family to make me angrier than I already was. My mate... He was the one who helped my pack accept me. “Allison, you are such a lovable daughter that they didn’t even deserve someone like you. You hate them, right? You must be relieved that I got rid of them because I know how much you hated them. Nobody will ever touch you or hurt you again.” “Shut the f**k up!” He needed to be corrected. Contrary to what he claimed, I did not hate them. All that I wanted was to be with them ultimately and without reservation. I aimed to prove to them that a woman could effectively play the role of Alpha. “I can still remember your mate,” As soon as I heard him mention my fated mate, I felt every muscle in my body tense. My veins were throbbing with rage as my blood rushed through them. All I could see was red. “When I killed him, did you know what he looked like? Because you’re a coward, you didn’t bother to find out. You managed to get away from your pack while I was assaulting them. You’re too frightened like a cat, and you wanted to be an Alpha of your pack.” he continued. My entire body began to tremble horrifyingly, and I had the overwhelming desire to thrust the knife into his chest. I was not a coward. I did not intend to flee to save my life. A gasp escaped my mouth as my hands shook with rage. “Perhaps you escape because you’re still outraged at them. They caused you so much harm, and it doesn’t even seem to matter to them that you’re their daughter.” “f**k you! Shut up! I’m going to f***ing kill you.” My teeth clenched, and I began running toward him. When he didn’t move and let me stab the knife out of his chest, my eyes widened, and my jaw dropped. Blood spurted from his mouth as we both went down to the ground. “Kill me then,” he grinned, whispering. I sat on his stomach and stabbed him several times with the knife. When he didn’t even dare to fight with me, it brought tears to my eyes, and I couldn’t stop them from falling down my cheeks. “Allison! Wake up!” An angry moan escaped my lips as a hand slapped my cheek. Instantly, I opened my eyes and looked up to find Cairo staring at me. He put his hand on my forehead and looked concerned. “You aren’t sick anymore.” I moved my hands to his chest and pushed him away from me so that I could get some distance. When he saw how I responded, he snorted and pursed his lips in amusement. It bothered me that he was so close to me, and it gave me the impression that I was unfaithful to Conrad, who was supposed to be my partner. “Calm down! I’m not doing anything wrong to you!” “You are a Lycan as well. What makes you think I’ll trust someone like you?” “Are you trying to say I’m a murderer? You know I’m different from him.” I didn’t mention anything about him. I couldn’t understand why he went to my tent merely to wake me up. Cairo shook his head in disbelief. He appeared dissatisfied as a result of my reaction to him. I looked at him coldly. “How are you different from that evil man? You’re working on him.” I sneered and rolled my eyes at him, causing him to remain silent. Jayden, who I later discovered was the Lycan King's brother, greeted me as I emerged from my tent. When I approached him, he looked at me very sternly. “What exactly is it?” “About our plans...” He didn’t utter what he was going to say. I turned my head to face the ground. He looked just like him, making me loathe him even more. He may have appeared younger than his brother, but it didn’t change the fact that he had his brother’s blood in his veins. Jayden may be eager to work with me, but that doesn’t mean I can trust him. He was a Lycan, a werewolf’s adversary. However, I had no choice because I knew I needed his assistance. I was sure that without his help, I would be unable to exact my vengeance. He allowed me to carry out our plans because he wanted me to eliminate his selfish sibling. We had a mutual hatred for his brother, and with his help at the Lycan castle, I was confident that I would soon obtain the justice I had been seeking. “I will do it. It’s perfectly alright with me if you send me as bait for him.” I said with confidence. When I looked at him again, he was nodding, but I could tell he was thinking about what I had said. Inhaling deeply, he paused. This was something I consciously decided to accomplish. I don’t appreciate waiting a long time for my chance to exact my revenge. The thought that I would finally do what I desired for the Lycan King caused my adrenaline to surge. “This is a complex task. Allison, are you sure I can trust you with this one?” He coldly questioned me, giving me a death gaze. “What are you trying to say? Of course! I am willing to resort to any means necessary to kill him. You know how much I despised him.” “I’m concerned that you will end up like those other women we used as bait for him. You won’t make it. He was highly perceptive, and I feared that if he learned your pack was the Black Moon, he could suspect you of plotting against him. “ “It’s been three years since it happened. Did you believe he could still recall me?” I had to make him believe I was important to his game. Jayden wasn’t the type of man who would make moves without first assuring that he would win. “You exude confidence. Okay, let’s check this out.” He c****d his head to the side and stared into my eyes as if attempting to read me. “Your hatred for him led me to believe you could easily defeat him. I have trust in you.” “We both know, Jayden, that we don’t trust each other. We only use one another to get what we want.” I couldn’t help but be honest with him. After I said those words, he pursed his lips and looked at me with a gleam in his amused eyes. He drew closer to me, causing me to take a step back. “You despised my brother in the same way I despised him.” My jaw dropped in surprise as he continued, “If I succeed in getting the throne from his hands, you can be my Queen.” What does he think of me? What gives him the impression that I would voluntarily accept the role of being his Queen? It would be better for me to die than to be with him. “Don’t push your luck, Jayden. Your statements make me want to vomit. Are you unaware of how much you resemble him?” I felt like I was spewing poison at him when I told him. His eyes blinked, and he laughed out loud. After silence, he licked his lips and said, “Oh! You didn’t like to be my Queen because of him? Wow, that’s fantastic news, and you’re totally right—we definitely didn’t trust each other.” When Cairo came close to us, I ignored him completely. He looked pretty serious, and he wouldn’t take his eyes off me. My chest felt tight, and I had to take a few deep breaths to calm down. It was okay; I didn’t need to be afraid; this was precisely what I wanted. I had no choice but to remove the Lycan King from his throne to stop him from abusing his power and slaughtering some innocent victims. “You’re going to be his concubine. Isn’t it incredible? In that case, you’d be the most valuable pawn I’ve ever had if you could lure him and get him to sleep with you.” Jayden commented with a sneer on his face, obviously mocking me. When I heard what he was saying, I was taken aback. I assumed I would have to work within the castle, but I was mistaken. He gave me a challenging look before saying, “Allison, if you think you can’t do it, that’s fine with me. Did you know he murdered those women I planted inside the castle? Their attempts to seduce him were unsuccessful. Contrary to your belief, my sibling is not a moron.” I deliberately shut my eyes to stop being anxious about what might happen next. I knew I was the weak wolf everyone knew, but that didn’t mean I’d be weak until I died. If I had to die, I would gladly die because I could finally see my family and my mate. They were the reason I decided to do this, they were my strength, and I knew they would help me seek justice. My heart was pounding too quickly, and I shivered when I couldn’t see anything. Jayden planned to lock me up with my adversary. When I heard some peculiar noises behind me, my lips trembled. My whole body froze when I took a deep breath and inhaled the lingering, salivating scents. “What a wonderful surprise!” A male, cold voice exclaimed, and I turned to feel him approaching me. When I realized he was right before me, I shut my eyes. When he removed the blindfold, my lips parted as I realized who owned the aroma. ‘MATE!’
