Chapter 1: The Mate Verdict
'Touch my father, and I will carve that frozen heart right out of your chest, Heartless Alpha!' Aria’s voice cut through the smoke of the burning packhouse. She stood in her blood-stained silver armor, twin blades drawn, shielding her defeated father from Alpha Killian. She had just dropped from the shattered skylight, leaving three Blackwood warriors dead in her wake. Killian, known across the realms as a ruthless beast, slowly raised his icy gray eyes from the blade pressed against his throat. He took a single step forward, completely ignoring her weapon. Then, the world shattered. A violent jolt of electricity surged through their veins. The scent of winter pine and crushed mint exploded in the air, instantly suffocating the stench of blood. Killian’s inner wolf roared in absolute shock: MATE. Aria gasped, her grip on her sword faltering. Her wolf howled in recognition, fighting to pull her toward the very monster who had just destroyed her home. 'No. This can't be,' she thought, panic gripping her chest. The ruthless tyrant she was sworn to kill was her destined mate. Killian’s shock quickly transformed into dark amusement. His lips curled into a cruel smirk. 'The War Luna,' he murmured, his voice low and dangerous. 'It seems the Moon Goddess has a twisted sense of humor.' 'The bond changes nothing,' Aria hissed, her voice trembling but fierce. 'You are the enemy of my people. I will never be your Luna!' With blinding speed, Killian lunged. He grabbed her blade with his bare hand, ignoring the blood slice his palm, and yanked her forward into his iron chest. 'You don't get a choice, little wolf,' he whispered against her ear, his Alpha aura crushing her defense. He threw her over his shoulder like a prize of war and turned to his army. 'Stop the slaughter. Take the prisoners, and throw this one into my car. The Silver Crescent has fallen, but my War Luna is coming home.' Chapter 2: The Cage of the Beast The heavy steel door of Alpha Killian’s armored SUV slammed shut, locking Aria inside a rolling cage. Outside, the remnants of her burning packhouse faded into the snowy night. Inside, the air was suffocatingly thick with the scent of pine and mint—Killian’s scent. Aria slammed her fists against the reinforced glass. 'Let me out! Killian, you coward, face me!' The partition slid down. Killian sat in the front seat, his icy gray eyes catching hers in the rearview mirror. His bare palm was already completely healed from her blade, a testament to his monstrous Alpha strength. 'Save your breath, Aria,' Killian said, his voice a low, gravelly vibration that made her inner wolf whimper in submission. She hated how her body reacted to him. 'You are no longer a commander. You are a captive.' 'I am a warrior of the Silver Crescent,' she spat, gripping the leather seat to steady her shaking hands. 'Your mate bond is a curse. The moment I get my hands on a blade, I will finish what I started.' Killian chuckled, a dark, humorless sound. 'I look forward to watching you try.' The vehicle violently lurched to a halt. The electronic locks clicked open. The door was ripped wide by two massive Blackwood warriors. 'Out,' one ordered. Aria stepped down into the deep snow, her eyes widening. They hadn't stopped at a prison camp. They were standing in the courtyard of the Blackwood Citadel—a massive, gothic fortress carved directly into the mountainside. Hundreds of Blackwood pack members stood in the shadows, their eyes burning with hostility as they stared at the captured 'War Luna.' 'Move,' a voice sneered from the crowd. A sleek, blonde woman stepped forward. It was Tanya, the pack's current lead female warrior and the woman who had spent years trying to claim Killian’s bed. Her eyes flashed a dangerous, jealous yellow as she looked at Aria’s silver armor. 'So this is the trash you brought back from the raid, Alpha?' Tanya mocked, drawing a silver dagger. 'Let me clean up the battlefield for you.' Tanya lunged, her dagger aiming straight for Aria’s throat. Aria didn't even flinch. Despite the exhaustion, her battle instincts took over. She sidestepped the blade, grabbed Tanya’s wrist, and twisted it until the bone popped. Tanya shrieked as Aria kicked her squarely in the chest, sending her flying across the snow into the stone steps. 'Touch me again, and I won't just break your wrist,' Aria warned, her sapphire eyes glowing in the dark. The courtyard went dead silent. The Blackwood warriors drew their weapons, ready to tear Aria apart. 'Stand down!' Killian’s roar echoed off the stone walls, instantly dropping every pack member to their knees. He walked past Tanya without a second glance, stopping right in front of Aria. He leaned down, his lips brushing against her ear. 'Impressive. But don't mistake my protection for freedom, little wolf. Tonight, you sleep in the dungeons.'
