Chapter four
Ellie couldn’t believe that the man who killed her fiance came to marry her. What was even worse was that her family sold her to him willingly against her will. No matter how much she cried and screamed, it didn’t help. In the end, his bodyguard dragged her to his car along with her little luggage that Vivian helped her pack.
His car was driving them back to his mansion. Ellie shivered slightly as she sat beside the notorious man. She found it so hard to breathe. What if he found out that she wasn’t blind? What if he found out she tricked him? She knew that would lead to her death!
The man closed the magazine in his hands and turned to Ellie’s face. His gaze was so piercing through her that she felt like disappearing out of his sight that same minute. The man didn’t say a word; instead, he turned to the chauffeur and ordered him through the privacy screen.
“Branch to the Civil Bureau Office. We are getting our marriage licenses.”
Ellie froze. They are getting married?
Ellie couldn’t believe her ears. She would be getting married to the man who ruined her life? The man who destroyed her dreams? Her biggest nightmare?
It doesn’t even sound like he was seeking her permission and decision. He was just instructing the driver.
Ellie mustered the courage to turn to him with tears in her eyes. “I don’t want to get married.”
“That’s none of my business. Your family got their share of the contract already.” He said with a smirk on his face.
A tear streamed down her cheek. She was already sold out to the notorious mafia boss.
Elliie's mind kept wandering about a lot of things until it got interrupted by the driver’s voice.
“We are here.” He announced.
Miguel's guard, who had previously been sitting with the driver, got out of the car and opened the door for Miguel. Miguel stepped out of the car while Ellie was still seated in the car. After all, she had to continue acting blind.
Suddenly the door opened beside her by the same guard, and he helped Ellie out. He also took her into the building.
Due to Miguel's identity, they didn't follow the normal procedures. Since Miguel used his influence, the process was swift. In a matter of time, they were done with it.
Half an hour later, Miguel walked out of the building, behind him was Ellie, who was being assisted by his guard. She was holding a red colored booklet in her hands. She was really married! She had a stain of tears at the corner of her eyes; her whole world had just crumbled to her feet.
First, it was just barely two times she had met him, and also the circumstances they met were worse. He killed her fiancé, and now she was forced to marry him. What was worse was that she was lawfully married to a notorious criminal, her biggest enemy. The man she hated so much.
His guard helped Elle get into the car, and the car finally drove them to his mansion.
The drive to his home was heavy with tension for Ellie. As they pulled into the driveway, the driver parked the car and turned off the engine. Elle stayed quiet, unsure of what to expect next. But for her, the silence in the air was suffocating.
“We are home.” The chauffeur announced to the man, who was busy on his cell phone.
He dropped his phone and alighted from the car while the guard helped Ella again.
“Welcome home, Master.” The two were welcomed by the housekeeper in his middle 50’s.
Her gaze fell on Ellie, and she looked a little surprised.
“Take her to her room. She is my new wife. She is blind; be careful with her.” He instructed.
Without thinking twice, the woman nodded, and she grabbed by her arms, taking her in.
“You should stay in this guest room for some while until I prepare your room, ma’am.” She told Ellie politely, helping her to sit at the edge of the big bed.
Ellie doesn’t want to stay there, not even in that house.
“If you need anything, you can…” she paused. Her gaze fell on the telephone, which was a little far away from the bed.
She sighed. She doubted if the blind lady would find her way there. But before the housekeeper could say a thing, Ella interrupted her.
“You can leave. I will be fine on my own.” She mumbled
The woman seemed to contemplate for a minute. She finally nodded and left alone.
The moment Ellie was left alone, she took a deep breath. She wanted to get on her feet in a hurry, but the thought that came to her stopped her. What if the room had a hidden camera?
She got on her feet slowly, and with her hand dangling in the air, she navigated her way to the door, twisted the door knob, and peeped out. The moment she found the whole hallway quiet without a single guard, she hurried out.
She tiptoed hurriedly in the hallway, trying to find her exit. She needed to escape. She needed to run as far as she could always from the ruthless man.
After wandering around the big house, she knew She wandered around the house, but she couldn’t find the house exit. Suddenly she heard Miguel's voice coming from the living room. Ellie halted in fear, and she hid near the big door.
However, the man seemed to be giving his guards some order, and Ellie happened to hear their conversation.
In the living room, Miguel sat on the sofa, and the housekeeper came to report to her at once.
“She has settled in the guest room, but I already asked the maids to prepare her room.” She reported avoiding Miguel’s gaze.
Miguel turned to his guard.
“Lock her into the room, I need to know if she is blind or pretending.” He instructed. The housekeeper's brows scampered a little. She was against the idea, but she didn’t dare say a word.
Miguel turned back to her. “Give her food with worms. I need to find out her intentions.” He added.
He turned back to his guard with a smirk at the corner of his lips. “If she isn’t blind, eliminate her and prepare a grand funeral for my newlywed wife.”
