Chapter Eight

 We walked for about a hour with no breaks before we made it to the pond. By that time I was really thirsty. Luka had shifted to drink from the pond and Izzy was stretching while Maria sat on a bolder. I didn't see Luka shift I just somehow knew that the tiger cub had to be him given the fact that we are in "Hickville" Northern Michigan where there are no tigers in the woods. And little boy Luka was nowhere to be seen.

"You might want to stretch Honey. It might be a little uncomfortable the first time you shift. Since your muscles and joints haven't done it before that is." Izzy said when she started doing toe touches.

"I'll try, but I still don't think that I can shift into anything." I said doing volleyball arm stretches.

"All you have to do is close your eyes and listen to your soul. Your animal knows it's way to the surface you just have to listen and reach for it." Maria was saying in a less exhausted voice than I had thought she would have.

I followed there instructions and I felt a wrenching in my bones and sinew. It also felt like my entire body was starting to itch. When I opened my eyes everything looked different and sounded more clear. I could smell a chicken on the other side of the pond. Maria and Izzy were so tall now I think I might have fainted. "I think I did something wrong." I tried to say but all that came out was a very powerful roar. When I heard the roar I didn't know it was coming from me so I hid behind Maria looking for the source of the noise.

"Go look at your reflection in the pond." Maria said to me.

When I saw a White tiger staring back at me I couldn't believe that it was me. The tiger had beautiful Ice blue eyes, nothing like my violet ones, and It had amazingly snow white fur, which was nothing like my jet black hair. When I turned around Maria and Izzy had both shifted as well. Both were also tigers but Maria was a bright orange with brown eyes and Izzy was a deep orange with green eyes. Luka was a very pale orange with grey eyes. I got really excited and started running around in the field. Next thing I know we are all running and playing, until we all had to stop for a drink.

After we had our fill of water we started off for the caves, Luka sticking by me of course. Izzy led the way and Maria brought up the rear. They both seemed like they were watching for something. Even though nothing came they still kept a watchful eye on our surroundings. We made it to the caves in about 20 minutes, maybe a half hour. Maria shifted back first and then Luka and Izzy.

"Okay now all you have to do is reign in your animal and push your human half forward." She explained.

I closed my eyes trying to follow directions again but for some reason it didn't work this time. I opened my eyes and shook my head at her.

"Okay Honey, just relax and imagine yourself as you were before you shifted before." Izzy said, trying to explain better.

This time it worked. I felt my entire body change and there was a satisfying feel to it. "Thank you. I honestly didn't believe you before but I was wrong. That was amazing." I said in a bit of a rush.

We went into the cave and Izzy got out a book with gold lettering on it. I thought it looked too fancy to be in a cave but who am I to judge. She flipped to the first page and it said Life Log. "What's that?" I asked out of pure curiosity.

"That is Momma's log of everyone she has met in her nine lives." Luka said in awe.

"This one here is my best friend she found her soulmate in a different streak. They had a daughter that went missing almost 19 years ago. She had a beautiful white tiger just like yours except it's eyes were like the Aurora Borealis got trapped in there. Her human eyes were a dark blue almost midnight. She had platinum blonde hair it almost looked silver. She was a beauty." Izzy said reminiscing.

She sounded very familiar but I wasn't sure why. "Did you ever get to meet her? I don't know why but she sounds familiar to me for some reason."

"Yes we met her. She practically grew up with the triplets. Maria and her were inseparable-" She was cut off.

"Until that bastard deflowered the princess and made her afraid for her life along with her entire family's lives." Maria said with furry in her voice and fire in he eyes. "I heard from her once more after that, she ended up having a little girl by him so he threw her on the street for not providing a son for his psycho ass."

"Do you have any pictures of her from before that?" I asked really curious as to why this all sounded so familiar to me. Almost like a story from my childhood.

Izzy flipped to a page labeled Oddette The Princess. My eyes went wider than I thought they ever could. "Mom." I cried. She looked exactly as I remembered her.

"So you are the new Princess. You had no idea that you were even a part of this world let alone our little princess." Maria said like she knew all along. " You got his hair but everything else is hers. Oddette would have been proud of how beautiful you turned out." Now she had a tear roll down her cheek and hit the floor of the cave.

After everything that happened today I think I went into shock because all I remember after that is black.
