Incidents Build FATE
Last night I had a dream. The same cliché dream about a knight in shining armor on a white horse came running towards me to save me from the crowd of monsters and flew me away to a place no less than Heaven. Everything was really beautiful until I was slapped by the reality to wake up in the world where no knights in armor exists. There are people who can only find faults in you or kick you hard to the rock bottom if you ever think to spread your wings. And when you are no good, forget about anything.
"Stella!", called a girl from behind as I walked in my own anesthesia. I couldn't hear her or ignored her unconsciously, whatever the case, but I didn't stop and walked on the pebbled path.
"Hey! Are you sleep walking?", she said grabbing onto my arm.
"Oh! Venna...", I immediately recognized her when she when blew out the bubble of my dream. Venessa Hodge is my best friend, I call her Venna. The only friend I could say I have. Pretty as she ever looked, came in front of me still not leaving my arm. Her long honey blonde hair blowing as the wind flows through them. She is wearing pink button down top with a blue denim skirt. A beautiful black belt tied at her waist and leather boots looked amazing on her. Her smokey grey eyes confusingly stuck at me.
"Umm... You look awake.", she kidded.
"Duh! I was just wondering where my burden went to...", I taunted at her.
"Ah!! It was pretty pointed...", she acted being hurt before we both bursted out laughing. We have had this friendship since school days, and now in University it only grew deeper. We both know each other too well to predict the next action. We have same taste and choice. Also we both are still single. Period.
"What is it today?", she asked me all excited and expecting the answer she already know.
"Thursday!!!... So we pull our hairs loose today...", I replied in same excitement as her pulling rubber band from my hair and shaking my head a little. We have a hairstyle calendar, we dress our hairs according to it. Thursday is- left loose day.
"Let's go..", both said simultaneously.
New semesters are always exciting but they fade away as the time passes by. This semester, I'm damn determined to do something exciting as the last went pretty boring. I wish I could find my love this semester that is IMPOSSIBLE!
Venessa has a lot of suitors behind her but she always says that she hadn't loved herself enough to give herself to someone else whereas me is simply a loner. Maybe, I should also have this kind of sentiment that she has. Maybe, loving myself when no one else does is the best thing yet I don't have the courage to do so.
On campus we aren't that famous. Should I say, I am not? There are a lot more pretty girls and there are many more that are the center of attraction and gossips. We just simply study, eat, do some simple activities, and dance whenever no one is watching. Also we click the picture of almost everything and post it that not many sees.
*Phone chimes simultaneously*
"All the students of third semester are hereby requested to collect their new identity cards from their class coordinators...", Venna reads it out loud.
"Yup! We would need that...", she added.
"Yes. If you want to feed, you would.", I testified to her. We both nodded in agreement to each other and headed straight to the administrative.
A lot of others already were collected in front of the entrance to get their IDs. Talking and joking at ourselves, we finally reached at the desk.
"Venessa Hodge"
"Stella Styles"
We called out our names to the coordinator and she immediately started to look for it in the stack of many other IDs.
"Here you go, Venessa...", she stretched her hand out holding Venna's card.
"What was your name again?", lady behind the desk asked me.
"Stella Styles?", I answered.
"Where is it? It should have been here...", she muttered as she searched it again and again.
"Nope. It's not here...", she finally gave in after trying for countless times.
"Sorry Stella but you might have to find it in the records room by yourself. I think it got mixed up.", she informed.
"It's okay...", though I said it but it's not okay. Why did this happen only to me? Poor management. I cussed in my mind.
"Shall we go look for it then?", Venna asked as we left the queue.
"Nevermind. I'll go alone. You better go and fetch something to eat before everything good is grabbed...", I insisted.
"Okay then. My treat...Come early..", she said parting with me to go to the canteen while I a on my way to records room.
Records room is almost at the other side of the campus from where I was standing. On a sunny hot day, why did a girl like me had to do this? Blame the timing and luck. I kept complaining as I walked step by step slowly to there.
The records room was no less than a haunted setting. An old huge gate with creamy walls and no one near here anywhere. I slowly opened the door and the creaking sound filled up the surrounding. Only the class of bats were missing for it to be perfectly creepy. Not bothering to turn on the lights, I turned the flash of my phone and started to look for my identity card in big and heavy cardboard boxes.
It was great that I didn't had to struggle through heat, dust, and darkness for too long as I found it in a few minutes. I picked it up and turned when suddenly I clashed to an another figure. The box turned upside down and the cards got mixed up again.
"Ahhhh!!!", I shouted and the person blocked my mouth tightly by his hand.
"Why are you shouting?!! Did you see a ghost?", he asked impatiently.
"Ah! That scared me...", she spoke releasing herself from his hands.
"Are you one? Why didn't you turn on the lights if you came?", I questioned back to the guy that I might have never seen before.
"You also didn't turn them on. Did you?", He spoke stepping back a little.
"I did but they aren't working...", I lied and he immediately pushed the switches.
"I guess they are...", he stated looking up at the light bulbs.
"They are now...", I kept saying hiding the lie one after another.
"I have to do this again...", I complained sighing and somewhat crying too. Again bending down to pick everything up felt rather tiring. I regret not turning the lights on. He helped too after all it was his fault too. After rearranging everything back to its original state, I struggled to pick the heavy box. Seeing me helpless, he did it. Placed the box back in the shelf and picked the last card up from the ground.
"Here you go...Stella Styles", he said pulling his hand out at me.
"How did you know?, I asked as to how did he know it is mine.
"I read your name earlier and this is the last one out..", he explains. As I approached it, he stretches his arm up making it hard to fetch. I tried but he is too tall.
"Are you giving it or not?"
