Chapter 23 Hana drove to work on autopilot. She covered half the journey without recognition. When a child wearing a yellow backpack stepped out in front of her, it brought her to her senses. The Honda slid to a stop and her hands shook on the steering wheel. Wide blue eyes stared at her and then the boy ran the rest of the way across the road. It left her trembling. “Snap out of it!” she pleaded with herself, pinching her thigh to break the miserable fog. “Snap out of it, Hana.
