Episode 12

As soon as Ella was finished with her ice cream i had Mila bring her to the doctors quarters to get the test done, I remember Adriana it was a one time thing back when I was still in my sisters gang, I was 17 so was she, we were both out each one with our own set of friends, she was there trying to forget I was just trying to take some of the training pressure of, both of us were under age but with fake ids we got through, being drunk one thing led to another and we had a long night but no matter how drunk I might have been I can tell you I used protection but looking at this little girls eyes I start to doubt myself, which I don’t do often.

“Ok Ella please stay very still ok, this will only hurt for a little while.” Mila said, and Ella nodded.

As the doctor took her blood and then added a plaster Ella didn’t say a thing she had tears in her eyes but didn’t let them down the doctor was so surprised with her behaviour she gave her 5 lollipops, the reason we took blood and not something like a hair or a bit of spit is because I wanted to have more tests done to the girl as i wanted to know she if was healthy or not and needed care in any way, even if she isn’t mine I’m going to make sure she’s healthy.

 “Alright Boss, I’ve gotten the blood and I’m going to send it into the lab as soon as I take some spit or hair from you and I also done some others tests, her hearing is perfect as well as her eyesight and her vocals and as soon as i get an X-ray done I’ll give that report.” The doctor said smiling passing me a plastic back where I put in one of my hairs.

“Thank you boss, alright Ella do you mind coming this way with me please.” The doctors said then Ella got up and made her way with the doctor.

“She’s a really well behaved girl.” Mila said smiling.

“Yeah she is.” I said with my eyes still on the door they went in through.

“Boss if it’s ok to ask who is she?” Mila asked me and i don’t know why i felt the need to answer her but i did.

“Apparently my daughter.” I answered  taking in a breath.

“Wow.” Mila said feeling shocked.

“Wow is exactly it.” I said back.

The doctor was soon out with Ella and said that her bones where perfect no damages anywhere and also said the tests would be back in a couple of hours max.

I got a text from Jack saying that his wife had delivered a baby boy and that both the baby and Chloe where perfect, I congratulated him and right when I was about to put my phone in my pocket it went off again and Jack was telling me he forgot to mention the letter Ella arrived with was on my office desk, I thanked him then I thanked Mila who was struggling to hold a sleeping Ella even with her small size, I took Ella in my arms and then told Mila she could have the rest of the day of to thank for the help.

Once I was in my office i tried to set Ella on my sofa so she’d sleep nicely but she kept on twisting and turning and nearly fell off so I decided to sit with her on my lap while I went through the letter Ella arrived with.

Dear Oliver,

I know the night we had was long ago and you probably don’t remember but i got pregnant i found out a month later and I decided to keep her and not tell you I raised her perfectly for the past three years and I’m happy to say that but I’m devastated to tell you that I’ve got cancer and I’ve had it for some time but I tried to go through it I fought for Ella and not leaving her alone, but sadly i didn’t get better, I got worse, I was going to leave Ella with my mother but she was too old to be looking after Ella by herself and I didn’t want Ella to be going through more losses of close ones, it was hard to find you but somehow I did and so I just want to say, please look after Ella, there’s a signed copy of me giving you her full custody and her birth certificate as well as all the money I have with the pictures of Ella and me since the day she was born, please give them to her when she is old enough to understand and tell her I love her and that i was ever so sad to leave her, she is also wearing a necklace that used to belong to me, it’s quite expensive and one of a kind please tell her to treasure it. Her full name is Ella Jade Anderson, her birthday is the 1st of may 2016, she’s allergic to pineapple and her favourite colour is pink, i could talk about her day. Please take care of her.

I read that letter over and over again trying to wrap my head around all the information i had just read not knowing how to process it.
