Chapter 5 | Diem Malum (Bad Day)  The interview started with the most basic questions that anyone could find on the internet with a flick of their wrist. Since she had already prepared for such questions, she had no trouble answering them. The only problem was that Ms. Limbarchi, the interviewer had a few too many questions. Belinda was happy she had a lot of patience, living in an orphanage with more than a dozen kids helped. Once the questions were done Ms. Limbarchi went back to review her file, she saw no reason why she would need to do it twice, but it was multi billionaire company so everything should be perfect. "Very well Ms. Carson, we will contact you if you are selected." Ms. Limbarchi said and slid the file back to her. Rude!  Gathering her bag in one hand and the file in another she walked out of the cabin with a deflated mood. It did not help that it had started raining again and she forgot her umbrella at home. She wanted to cry in frustration and pull her hair out, her eyes watered a little but she blinked them away quickly before the tears could betray her. She didn't even know why she was feeling this way, they did not reject her yet. There was still some chance left and she should be optimistic about it. Her phone pinged indicating a message, she pulled out her phone to check the message, and she was not surprised when it turned out to be a telemarketing message. Since her phone was already out and the interview was done she thought of messaging Jax about the treat. 'Done with the interview. Meet at Fizzy' in 10?' she quickly typed and hit send, his message came instantly as if he was waiting for her message, it was either that or he was playing games on his phone instead of working. 'Can I bring someone with me?' She thought about it and replied affirmatively. It would not harm to bring an addition, the more the merrier. Fizz’s was a local cafe two blocks away from Thorn Inc. It was well known and the best, they served quality food at reasonable price, since most of their customers were students and company employees.  She waited at the entrance of the same homogeneous building for the rain to stop or at least slow down to a drizzle so she could walk to the cafe. Jax and his friend would be waiting for her and it would seem extremely rude if she was late as she was the one who invited them. A few minutes later it was only drizzling so she speed walked on the sidewalk all the way to the cafe, it was not packed as usual with only a few bunch of people.  She spotted Jax near a window seat with another guy. Jax was facing her way and the guy was sitting opposite to him so she couldn't see his face. But he was clearly muscular, it showed in his big frame and bulging arms. "Sorry I am late, it was raining and I forgot my umbrella at home." She apologized as she reached for the extra chair near the table and settled on it. She muttered a greeting to Jax and turned to the other guy who was a stranger to her. "Hello, my name is Belinda, I am a friend of Jax. Nice to meet you." She introduced herself politely and offered a nice smile. The guy was good looking, he had an angular face with a little stubble on the jaw, his eyes were a deep shade of brown with a hint of gold in them, and she had never seen eyes like these before. They were unique. "I am Tate, Jax's boyfriend." She almost slipped from the chair she was sitting on. From all sorts of introductions this one one of those she did not expect. Her mouth drop open and eyes bulged in reaction to his proclaim. He looked pretty serious. She gave Jax a look that asked ’Is it true?' He nodded a yes and fumbled with the rubber bracelet thing on his left wrist. She was about to reprimand him for not telling her earlier about him being gay and that she would have not judged him if that was what he was worried about, but stopped herself before she could blurt out all the nonsense. They had known each other was not even a week, she had just met him two days ago and became friends with him, how could she expect him to open up to practically a stranger and tell them about your sexuality? "I'm glad that you decided to tell me Jax, we have known each other for so little time and you trust me enough to let me meet your boyfriend made me very happy." She said and watches as his eyes lightened up with joy and a smile erupted on his face like fireworks. She laughed when he hugged her and squeezed her to death, but she was saved by Tate who gladly pulled off his boyfriend before he could strangle poor Belinda. They ordered food and talked about themselves. She couldn't help but gush over how cute Tate and Jax were. Tate may look buff and dangerous but he was so nice to Jax! Tate was obviously having problem communicating with her but by the end of the first hour he was laughing along with her and Jax as they made lame jokes and smeared ketchup on each other’s nose. It was disgusting but she felt nice, she felt home and she would not trade it for anything. Belinda insisted on paying the bill as it was her treat but after a long argument they decided to split the bill, Tate paid for Jax too that caused another argument between them that Tate ended with a small kiss on his cheek. Belinda was a hardcore shipper of Jate by the time they left the cafe.
