Jessica Is A Medium

1096 Words
The next morning, Jessica was in the living room of her new house. She and Flora had finally finished putting furniture and decorating the house, and, truth be told, they both really liked the result of a whole week's work. So now here she was, enjoying her time at her very own house. Anyone would think she was alone, but, in reality, she wasn't. She had the charisma of being able to talk to spirits and dead people ever since she can remember herself. When she said this to people, they didn't believe her. They thought she was just messing around, but it was actually true. Among all the people, Flora was the only one who believed her. She didn't think she had any reason to lie about this, and it's not completely impossible for someone to be able to communicate with spirits. She had many friends spirits and she got along well with all of them. Among them, she had a best friend, Harry Lawrence. She had met him when she was just four years old and they had been best friends ever since. From Jessica's perspective, he was one of the best people she had ever met. He was always kind to her and tried to help her solve problems she had. Whenever she was sad, he would be there for her to comfort and cheer her up. Thanks to him, she learned how to see people's true colors, and as a result, she never had any fake friends except Scarlett. At the time her family found her and brought her back home, despite the fact that he didn't like them, he helped her in various ways. For example, he would be by her side whenever they were against her. He would find ways to help her please them and make them appreciate her so they could finally accept her as their family as their real daughter. He also tried to warn her about them, but she unfortunately didn't listen, and they ended up causing such harm to her. He said he didn't really remember how he had died, but he was only six at that time. The last thing he remembered was him lying in the hospital bed and his parents crying beside him, praying for him to stay alive. But apparently, the doctors there couldn't save him, and he was now wandering in the earth as a spirit. He knew almost everything about her since he was with her most time of the day and could see and hear everything. Right now, they were in the living room talking about Jeff. "What do you think he will ask you to do?" She thought for a moment. "I have no clue, but it must be something embarrassing. He really likes to make fun of me." Harry, knowing Jessica for many years, could tell that she was thinking of the past. Jefferson indeed had made her do some embarrassing things. But at least he didn't try to embarrass her in front of other people. He had witnessed some of them himself, but just like Dylan, he knew the reason behind this. "Maybe it won't be that bad this time. You're adults, after all. Maybe he will ask you to help him on something." Harry tried to comfort her. "Jefferson? He won't do something bad? Impossible! Ever since I know him, he has always been immature enough to embarrass me. Remember the time when I let him paint my face and take pictures of it? Wasn't that bad?" Jessica remembered. "What I mean is that he won't possibly go as far as to do something like that. What you said just now happened when you were still kids, like ten years ago. That is too much even for him." Jessica thought for a moment. She sighed and spoke again, "You're right. At least I hope so. He's not that ruthless, right? He will probably just ask me to do something for him." "Exactly. So, there is no need to worry about him, Jess. Now get your mind off of him. Isn't tonight your first sleepover with Flora at your new house? How about we go buy some snacks?" "Sure, let's go." Jessica got her purse and some money and went to the nearest supermarket. "What should I buy?" She asked Harry in a hussed tone so no one would hear her. "Mhhh, let's go over there and check if there's anything you like in that aisle." Harry pointed out. They made their way where he showed her, and Jessica finally found several snacks and drinks she and Flora liked. She ended up buying pretty much, even though Harry tried to convince her not to. After she was done with the shopping, she and Harry headed back to her house so she could prepare everything needed for the night, with the help of Harry, of course. By the time they were done, the afternoon had already arrived, meaning that Flora would be here any moment. They waited a bit more and then she was finally there. The girls spent their night smoothly and fun. They ate the snacks, watched a movie, and had girl talks until they finally were too tired to stay up longer. With the Carson family. Since afternoon, Scarlett had deliberately brought up the problem with Jessica again, putting the blame on herself, and her family was comforting her. "It's my fault. We should go talk to her and ask for her forgiveness. Jessica may have bullied me, but she is still my sister, and I love her like one." She said through her sobs. Her family, who saw her in such a state, was heartbroken and immediately comforted her. "No, Scarlett, she doesn't deserve our attention." "David is right, Scarlett. You're really considerate and forgiving to even think about asking for her forgiveness after all she did to you." Benjamin continued. "Don't worry about her. She grew up away from us, her biological family, so she will be able to survive now, too." Her mother retorted. "If she hasn't returned until your father is back from his business trip, we will discuss it with him and see what we will do." "Thank you all so much. I hope we will be able to convince her to come back, though." Scarlett put on a bright smile and wiped her tears thinking, 'Oh, Jessica, trust me, you will never be anything but an outsider to them. They will end up hating you even more, and I will finally be able to get my revenge.'
