When Calls the Heart

The Laboratory

Lavender's POV

Jack and I worked hard in the laboratory to get my most coveted formula. We do over time just to create the mixture but until now have not discovered and got the right formula. I rolled my eyes inside of the laboratory, all the employees doing their best. I turned my gaze back to Jack who had earlier complained of hunger.

"I'm starving", Jack complained to me.

“It’ll be over in a moment”, I said while transferring into the container of a mixture.

"Do you see these people, there is nothing else to do but work should by this time they will eat", he said.

He ran outside without letting me know. I looked at my employees, I told them it was okay to eat. They immediately got up to go to the cafeteria opposite the laboratory building. I arranged my things and then I went out.

Before I could finally get out of the door, I will pass to Steeven's office, I peeked inside but he wasn't there. He was probably already in the cafeteria to eat with the employees. Yes he is my boyfriend but I don’t feel his support for me. Angry with Jack instead of him being with me in discovering the formula, he isn't.

I knew he was with me here in the laboratory but his presence was far from me. Because he is a villain in the tandem, Jack and I should support by him and not oppose to us. I finally got out and headed to the garden at the back of the laboratory building. I was shocked because Jack was there, sitting on the long bench.

I sat on the end of the chair to relax myself, then Jack asked his apology for what happened earlier. I took a deep breath and then exhaled to relieve the pain in my chest. I felt the hardship I’m going through right now. I would cry in response to Jack's apology but I managed to be formal.

What's wrong? ",

"Nothing," I sighed.

Jack stood up and pulled my hand away, I let go of him as we started to walk. I just realized that we had arrived at the wet market at the fruit shop. The amount on display, the variety is appetizing. Fruit festival ah I whispered to myself.

Jack had already bought some fruit and handed it to me. He was the one who made me smile which I still enjoyed. I bought more because I was also hungry. We ate the fruits while spinning storytelling. We arrived at a place selling burgers, we sat in the vacant seat and then ordered.

Our stomachs were full, we took the opportunity to wander until we reached the Park. Just in the opportunity did not go well because the heavy rain suddenly fell. Jack and I hurried to find a shelter. We took shelter in the waiting shed, fortunately because we were not completely drenched in the rain.

The story continued and the two of us laughed, temporarily losing the heavy feeling I had before. It took us a few hours to wait for the rain to subside. When the rain stopped we decided to go home. Tomorrow we will enter the laboratory again because we enjoyed Jack's outing.

The next day in the laboratory, Jack and I met again. New hope to achieve the desired to discover daddy's formula. Because of the fun Jack and I had I enjoyed and my day became fun. It makes me feel better and he even helps to ease my feelings.

After a day of work I went straight home. I went upstairs to my room. I was washing and getting dressed when I heard my cellphone calling. The caller’s name was immediately registered and it was Steeven.

We are here today at a famous diner. Face to face at the same table as most. The waitress took care of us as she handed us the menu. I was busy looking at our order while the one with me, on the cellphone was his attention.

I just focused on my food when our orders arrived. I started eating while Steeven was still in charge of his earlier fiddling. However I just understood the situation of the two of us. He ate well after typing to his cellphone earlier.

The two of us went for a walk first but I felt his attention was different. That instead we were talking something else he was talking someone on the cellphone. It's just a waste of time for the two of us to go sightseeing because his time is not mine. I just invited him home and I hurried to drive home.

The next day, I hurried inside the laboratory to start the activities with Jack. Suddenly Steeven enters the laboratory with a new employee. I was shocked because he didn’t say it. He was the only one who volunteered to hire to the point that he fired Jack.

The expression on my face changed, I wanted to scold him but I didn't because there were so many people around us. I fought for Jack that he make a big contribution and help in creating the new mixture. I apologized to Steeven’s new employee. I smiled very sweetly at her once saying there was no vacancy.

Steeven got angry and walked out. Jack also suddenly left without letting me know. Even though that happened I still continued my work with the employees. After work I tried to call Jack but he didn’t answer my call.

I went back into the laboratory, but I went straight to Daddy's office first. I stood by the window and peered outside. There was a knock on the door so I was told to enter because it was not locked. Steeven's figure appeared in the doorway with a very serious face.

I let him speak first. I was surprised by what he said because, he would resign. And with our competitors he still wants to work with them. He also admitted to me that he provided a copy of the new creations to make a new mixture of perfume. I was bored with him and I wanted to be angry but I chose to just keep quiet.

I just let Steeven got his things on his office. No words came out from me. He didn't say anything like sorry or please forgive me. What kind of man is this, no consideration!

The following day, we do the normal things work and work. Jack came in as well, we continued with another task. All the employees lined up when suddenly something dropped, a calling card in Jack's pocket. Miss Kim picked it up and handed it to me.

My eyes widened as I read the name on the calling card. "Olivia de Castro", also written below her name is her number. My eyes looking for a question at Jack. "How do you know her? I asked him.

He explained to me that when he came here to accept my job offer, he saw Olivia coming out of the office. He offered to take him on board. She drove him home. "Olivia is the competitor of Daddy's company. She loves copying the mixture." I told to Jack

"One more thing, Steeven resigned already to work with her. The worst is he gave them the copy of our latest finished mixtures ".

I know he was surprised by what I said about Steeven. Hastened to run outside. I tried to chase but his speed got away. I blew in the air to release the the heavy of my chest.

I didn't go to the laboratory, I let Miss Kim manage the laboratory first. I want to ventilate, breathe some fresh air. Here I am now to the Flower Farm. Seeing the ice view of the vast garden with beautiful flowers.

I sat on a bench, thinking about what next step I would take especially now that I am alone just manage Daddy's perfume that Steeven hasn't helped me even before. The pain is Steeven brought the mixtures. I can't do anything because it's already happened, I'll just do something new. More work load to do again.

Three hours later, I thought of going home but before going home, it would be best for me to go through the laboratory first. I am still far but I had seen a lot of people outside the laboratory. I hurriedly parked and then got out of my car. I'm almost running to get to the building.

"Why what happened?", I asked as soon as I arrived.

Miss Kim approached me, told me what had happened. Late for me to noticed the employees were all outside. The plumber explained to us that the water tunnel inside had been badly damaged so water had accumulated. The laboratory will be temporarily closed for repairs.

The employees understood everything. I told them that I would send through the ATM their wages and benefits. They slowly went home, Miss Kim hugged me and patted me on the shoulder. I just answered her with a deep breath.

I let go of Miss Kim's hug, I smiled and said I was okay. Everything has a reason then it’s just so cool. But really deep inside me I want to cry about what happened. After the employees went home, I first inspected the laboratory before going home.

Dropping my shoulder headed to my office. I sat down in my swivel chair, there I let my abundant tears come out. There was no word on my lips but a pure sob. I hugged myself feeling the pain in my heart.

After I cried, I felt relieved. I climbed to the top of the room to rest. I have a lot to do tomorrow so I need energy. I go to sleep first because I feel so tired.

I saw Daddy’s vast Flower Farm with benches on it set up to seat people who were visiting. On a bench I saw a man, not very old and with his back turned. I walked towards him as I sat at the end of the bench where he was sitting. “The environment is nice hija, isn’t it”?", that’s what he told me.

"Oh yeah, it belongs to my father who is already in heaven. These are the flowers we use as a mixture to make perfume", I explained to him.

"You know hija, you're not alone, no matter what you intend or plan don't stop," his advice.

I immediately sobbed at what he said. I could not speak because his words penetrated my heart. I wanted to answer him but I couldn't open my lips all I could do was cry. The man let me hear my crying.

"Thank you for your reminder whoever you are, it's a big thing for me to continue what I started. There are obstacles but they are part of what needs to be overcome", I said. "That's how you can be strong as long as you include God in your plans", he said.

I'm leaving." The man said to me.

Even though I couldn't speak, he finally stood up. I rubbed his back as if he was like Daddy's posture. I stood up to chase him wanting to see his face but suddenly disappeared like a bubble. "Daddyyyy !!! I shout hoping him to come back because I'm sure he is my Daddy.

I cried even more, I went back to my seat. I was talking to myself that my Daddy visited me but why he didn’t even show his face? I want to hug him tightly and complain. Again with a shout I let it out, Daddyyyyyyyy !!!!!!!!!!

Until I heard my cellphone vibrate. I am waking up from a tight sleep. It was all a dream, my father visited me. Yeah it's a dream I thought it was real.

As I saw the clock it was already six o'clock in the morning, I sat up in my bed and stretched. I looked up with my eyes close. "Thank you Daddy for not leaving me alone, you are just there to guide me. Everything you told me in my dream I will do it. I will not let the business stop, I will continue what you've started.

I got out of bed to take a shower and then went to the kitchen. Even when I was at home I had to take care of what I had promised to send to the ATM, the wages and benefits of the employees. At least my office is right here so even if something happens in the laboratory I still have all the copies of their status. After I ate, I started my work around eight o'clock.
