Cedrick: Dad, are you sure people will buy it here? Duncan: Of course, son. You just have to follow the master. Michelle: (laughs) After setting up the burrito stand: Duncan: Hit it. Cedrick: Yup, even girls started looking at me. Look! Ben looks at the excited girls. Girls: (laughing) Hi, Cedrick. Cedrick: Hey. Ben: You've got to teach us, guys. Cedrick: To hit on a girl? Ben: No, teach us how to sing. Cedrick: Sure, why not? Ben, Aiden, and Peter: Yes! Meanwhile, at Zack's house: Emily: Is it ready, Babette? Babette: Almost done. This burrito even has eggs. Emily: Good. Bob opens the door. The Next Day Emma walks around the school. Students bump into her and call her names. Students: Loser. (Travis arrives.) Travis: Need some help? (Emma looks up, mesmerized by his handsomeness.) Emma: Uh... eh... Travis: Is that a yes? Okay. (Travis helps Emma. When he hands her an envelope...) Travis: Here. Emma: Uh... eh... (Travis holds Emma's hand while giving her the envelope.) Travis: Well, see ya. Emma: Uh... eh... (Travis walks away.) Emma: (inhales) (exhales) (Emma, mesmerized, goes to her classroom.) (When Zack arrives at school...) Emily: Here you go, son. Zack: Thanks, Mom. Emily: Have a nice day. (Zack closes the car door and leaves.) Emily: See? Bob: Okay. I'll talk to him later. Emily: Okay, thank you, honey. (Bob and Emily leave school.) (Zack walks around the school.) (Ben runs to Zack.) Ben: Hey, Zack. Zack: Oh, hey. Ben: I was thinking we should go for coffee later. Zack: Look, I'm not in the mood for that right now, okay? (Zack walks away from Ben.) (Connor and Red arrive.) Connor: Well, well. What do we have here? Ben: What do you want, Connor? Connor: Uh, nothing. I'm just asking why Zack walked out on you. Why? 'Cause you look like that. (Connor and Red laugh.) Ben: Whatever. (Ben walks away.) (Connor and Red continue laughing.) Connor: (laughs) Nice one. (Ben walks into his classroom and sits down.) (A teacher makes his appearance.) (The students react.) Students: Wow! Look at him. I've never seen a teacher that young. (The teacher introduces himself.) Mr. Positive: Good morning, class. My name is... Hold on. (Mr. Positive grabs his guitar.) Mr. Positive: (plays guitar) Good morning, class. My name is Mr. John Positive, and I'll be your music teacher. (The students smile.) Mr. Positive: (plays guitar) And this year will be the happiest for yourselves and me. Mr. Positive: (plays guitar) Because I will be the luckiest teacher you'll ever see. (The students smile and applaud.) Mr. Positive: Thank you, thank you. This year will change your lives because you'll have the luckiest teacher you'll ever have. Alright, let's proceed with the discussion. Mr. Positive discussed all aspects of music, and when he finished his lecture, he had an announcement. School Bell Rings Rings Mr. Positive: Alright, class, in two weeks, we will be having a singing and dancing performance. This is open to all grades, from first grade to your current grade. Each group will consist of five people. You can choose your friends or form groups of three, four, or even just two people – whatever works for you. Mr. Positive: Okay, (grunts) (plays guitar) goodbye, students. Students: (singing) Goodbye and thank you, Mr. Positive. Mr. Positive: Alright, (laughs) see you next week. (Mr. Positive leaves the classroom.) (The students exit for recess.) (Zack walks over to the basketball court, sits on the paint, and enjoys his egg burrito.) (Meanwhile, at the canteen...) (Ben walks alone and appears quite depressed as he sits at his chair.) (Connor enters the cafeteria, smacking both doors.) (Connor walks up to a nerd student.) Connor: Give me your banana. (The nerd student timidly hands over the banana.) (Connor eats the banana and spits it out.) Connor: Thanks, loser. (Connor pushes the nerd off the chair.) (Connor proceeds to the food table.) Connor: Hmph! This food is disgusting – cabbage, a stupid chicken burrito? Really? (Connor smacks his lunch table.) (Connor looks at Ben.) Connor: Oh, hey, Ben. What's this, hmm? Oh, chicken. I love chicken. (Connor eats the chicken.) Connor: Thanks, you're so kind. (Connor slaps Ben twice.) Connor: Don't worry, everyone. I'm just here for the food. Connor: (laughs) Well, it was really nice to see you all. (Connor leaves the cafeteria.) Ben rushed to the bathroom. Ben felt deeply depressed due to how Connor humiliated him. Suddenly, his friends arrived. Cedrick knocked on the door. Cedrick: Ben, Ben, are you okay? Ben: I'm fine. Cedrick: Come on, man. Please open the door. (Ben opens the door.) (His friends hug him tightly.) Meanwhile, Zack continued eating his egg burrito while some girls looked at him excitedly. Girl#1: He's so cute! (nervously laughs) Come on, go talk to him. Girl#2: No, you go talk to him. Girl#3: You go talk to him. Girl#1: You go talk to him. (They continue debating.) (Just then, Mr. Positive arrives.) Mr. Positive: Hey, what are you girls doing here? Girl#1: Oh, nothing much, just keeping an eye out. Mr. Positive: Oh, okay. Well then, go have your recess. Girl#2: Come on, girls. Bye, Mr. Positive. (The girls leave, and Mr. Positive approaches Zack.) Mr. Positive: Hey, kid. What are you doing here by yourself? Zack: Hmm, just doing okay. Mr. Positive: Oh, and why are you here in the gym? Zack: Just thinking. Look, I don't know what you want. Just please leave me alone. Mr. Positive: You're being quite rude. What's the matter, kid? Zack: Please, I don't have any problem. I just want to be alone. Mr. Positive: Fine. You want to be alone? Remember, in the performance in two weeks, if you perform alone, you'll have no friends. (Mr. Positive leaves the gymnasium.) (Zack turns around with a moody face.) The School Bell Rings (Ben and his friends walk down the hallway.) Cedrick: You okay, Ben? You seem distant. Ben: I'm fine. Cedrick: Are you sure? Ben: Yeah. Cedrick: You sure about that? (Ben and his friends reach their classroom.) Cedrick: Alright, come on, guys. Ben: Okay, see you, guys. (Cedrick and his friends leave Ben to go to their classrooms.) (Ben enters his classroom and takes his seat.) (Connor and Red enter the classroom and taunt them.) Red: Hey, Connor, look, it's nerdy Ben. Connor: (laughs) Watch this. (Connor walks up to Ben and playfully taps his head, as does Red.) Connor: (laughs) Oops, sorry. (laughs) (Connor steps back and Ben is left...) Ben: (crying) (The English teacher finally arrives at their classroom and starts the class.) Meanwhile, Zack is still at the gymnasium, sitting at the top of the key. Zack is upset and angrily throws his lunchbox at the basket. (Mr. Positive once again enters the gymnasium, this time with Mr. Anderson.) Mr. Positive: See him? He's really... Mr. Anderson: Stressed and upset. Right. I'll take care of it. Mr. Positive: Thank you, sir. I better get going. Mr. Anderson: Okay, see you later. (Mr. Positive exits the gymnasium.) (Mr. Anderson approaches the stressed Zack.) Mr. Anderson: Hey, kid. (Zack smacks the basket.) Mr. Anderson: How are you holding up? (Zack turns around.) Zack: Leave me alone. Mr. Anderson: No, tell me. What's the matter? Please, remember that here at Dalton Academy, we're here to help solve anyone's problems. Did you forget that? (A dejected Zack sits on the floor.) Mr. Anderson sits down. Mr. Anderson: Come on. I'm here for you. I am your adviser. Zack: (crying) (Meanwhile, in the classroom...) (Connor throws a spitball at Ben.) (Ben turns around.) (Connor was just writing.) (Ben turns back to the teacher.) (Connor throws a spitball at Ben again.) (Ben turns around once more.) (Connor is still just writing.) (Connor throws a spitball at Ben once again.) (Ben angrily turns around, stands up.) Ben: Alright, that's it, Connor! Connor: Yes? Ben. Ben: You're so mean. I wish I could slice you like a pile of pizza. Connor: Okay. (Ben angrily sits down, and the teacher doesn't mind, continuing the discussion.) Emma: (whispering) Wow, I've never seen a nerd like that. Isabella punches her. Emma: (whispering) Ow! (Meanwhile, at the gymnasium...) Zack: So there I was, sitting on the couch. My grandpa startled me, he went, "Boo!" and I go, "Aaah!" I even ran away. (laughs) Mr. Anderson: (laughs) Wow, you and your grandpa are really close. Zack: Yeah, we were. Mr. Anderson: What's the matter? Zack: Nothing, some tragedy happened. Mr. Anderson: Oh, I'm really sorry. Zack: It's okay. Mr. Anderson: You know, in life, we always lose someone important to us. In every way, they'll always remain in our hearts, because God knows they won't leave them alone. So always remember that. (Zack hugs Mr. Anderson.) Zack: Thanks. Mr. Anderson: Oh, by the way, I've heard you've made a new friend. Zack: Huh? Mr. Anderson: I meant Caroline, your new friend. Zack: Oh yeah. (laughs) She's the only friend I have. Mr. Anderson: Try to make more friends. Zack: How? All I see are nerdy boys and jocks. I see students roughing each other up every day. Mr. Anderson: Try to make good friends. Just give it a shot. (Mr. Anderson stands up.) The School Bell Rings Mr. Anderson: Well, I better head to the teacher's room. Want to come with me and have lunch? Zack: Nah, I'll just sit here for a moment and then join you. Mr. Anderson: Are you sure? Zack: Yeah, I still want to be alone for a bit. Mr. Anderson: Alright, I understand. If you want someone to talk to, I'm here, okay? Zack: Okay, thank you, Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson: Alright, take care. (Mr. Anderson leaves the gymnasium.) (Mr. Positive approaches.) Mr. Positive: How did it go? Mr. Anderson: Fine. (Mr. Anderson gives a thumbs up.) Mr. Positive: (smiles) Great. (Meanwhile, at the cafeteria...) (Isabella and Emma get their lunch plates ready and start talking.) Emma: Can you believe this? Isabella: What? Emma: A nerd standing up to a bully. (gasps) Oh, man. Isabella: Why? We're both the same. Emma: Whatever. One day, I'm going to be the most popular girl here. Isabella: Oh yeah? And how are you going to do that? I mean, look at your dress uniform, and you hardly wear makeup. You wear eyeglasses most of the time, and most of all, you're weird, talking to handsome boys like that new kid, Travis. (Ben enters the cafeteria looking extremely depressed, sits down on a chair, and lays his arms on the table.) (As Isabella and Emma are about to find a seat...) Isabella spots Ben. Isabella: Come this way. Emma: Wait, where? Isabella: This way. (Isabella goes to Ben.) Isabella: Hey, is this seat taken? (Ben looks at her.) Ben: No, sure. I don't mind. Isabella: Thanks. Emma: Wait, what? Isabella: Don't mind her. She's just being mean. Ben: Oh, okay. Isabella: So, what's the problem? Why were you upset earlier in class? Ben: It's... (Connor makes his entrance.) Connor: Hey, Ben, what's up? What are you doing? Nerdy boy talking with his good old nerd friends? (laughs) Red: (laughs) Ben: Don't deny it. I know you're the one who threw the spitball at me. Connor: What? Oh, I didn't do that. Why would I do that? I thought we were friends. (Connor holds his shoulders.) Connor: Hmph, hmph, I thought we were friends. We were supposed to get to know each other. (Isabella stands up.) Isabella: Don't touch him. Connor: Or what, nerd? Isabella: Or I will report to the principal's office that you're touching him. (Other students chime in.) Students: We agree. Don't touch him. Stay away from him. (Connor stares at Ben.) Connor: We're not done yet. Like I said, we're not done yet. (Connor shifts his focus to Isabella.) Connor: And you, girl, that was a great defense. Connor: But you know you can't defend him alone. Isabella: Oh, I know I can. My dad told me that girls are better than boys. Connor: (laughs) That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Come on, Red. We're done here. (Connor and Red leave the cafeteria.) Ben: Thanks for the help. Isabella: No problem. Ben: (laughs) (Meanwhile, in the teacher's room...) (Zack arrives and walks up to Mr. Anderson's desk.) Mr. Anderson: Hey, Zack. Come, take a seat. Zack: Um, thanks. (Mr. Anderson hands him an extra lunchbox with luncheon meat.) Zack: Thank you, Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson: No problem. (Mr. Positive enters.) Mr. Positive: Well, well, well. Looks like he finally cooled you off. (Zack gives a moody stare.) Mr. Anderson: (laughs) Just give him space. Mr. Positive: Okay, I'm hungry. I'm heading to Chicken Swift. Mr. Anderson: Sounds cool, actually. Mr. Positive: Well, see you later. (Mr. Positive leaves.) (Meanwhile, Isabella and Ben continue their conversation, and Emma interrupts.) Emma: Sorry to interrupt, but I'm sorry, Ben. Aren't you supposed to be going to science class? Ben: Oh, yeah, sorry. But it was nice meeting you, Isabella. You too, Emma. (Isabella and Ben wave goodbye to each other.) (And Emma says...) Emma: Wise move, Bella. Very wise. Isabella: Shut up. Let's go. (As Emma and Isabella head to their Foreign Language class, Zack and Mr. Anderson continue their conversation in the teacher's room.) Zack: And there I was, in the locker room. I told my teammates, "Hey, we need to practice for our game." Mr. Anderson: And what happened? Zack: Nothing, they said... (Flashback starts when Zack enters the locker room.) Zack: Hey, guys, what the heck? You're just decorating this locker room and putting that pile of buckets up there? Zack's teammate: Don't worry, captain. We're just going to surprise the coach. Zack: Alright, give me that rope. (Zack explains how the bucket of dirty milk tea was set up.) Zack: So, there I was, pulling the rope down, and my teammates pulled it up, up. And when we pulled it together in the middle... Zack: (slow motion voice) Baaack off... Teammates: (slow motion voice) Beave bo... Beave... bo... (The bucket of dirty milk tea splats on them.) (The coach suddenly arrives.) Coach: Oh hey, my dear proteges, you like my surprise? (laughs) (Flashback ends.) Mr. Anderson: (laughs) Your coach totally got you guys real good. Zack: Yup. Mr. Anderson: Oh, it's almost time. What's your schedule for today? Zack: Oh, it's Science. Mr. Anderson: Alright, let me take you there. (As Mr. Anderson takes Zack to his Science class in the lab...) (Meanwhile, Ben enters the lab.) Cedrick: Hey, Ben. Hey! (claps) This is my good friend Ben. (Students gather around Ben.) Students: Nice to meet you, Ben. Ben: (smiles) Can I talk to you for a second? Cedrick: Sure. (Ben and Cedrick have a private conversation.) Ben: I didn't know you had so many friends here. Cedrick: Of course I do. Let me introduce them to you. Cedrick: Ben, this is Brennon. Brennon: Nice to meet you, Ben. (Brennon shakes Ben's hand.) Ben: Nice to meet you, Brennon. (A girl approaches and introduces herself.) Michela: Michela, the president of this science class. Ben: Nice to meet you, Michela. Cedrick: Ben, meet Finn, the most intelligent in this class. Finn: Nice to meet you. Cedrick told me a lot about you; you're really intelligent in Biology. Ben: Thank you. (Meanwhile, Zack and Mr. Anderson.) Zack: Are you sure about this, Sr.? Mr. Anderson: Don't worry, you'll have good friends there. Zack: Well, okay. (Zack heads to the lab.) (Cedrick and Ben.) Cedrick: Hey, look, it's our old friend Ben. Come on, let's go talk to him. Ben: I don't think... (Cedrick and Ben rush to Zack.) Cedrick: Hey, uh, Zack, right? Zack: Uh-huh, and uh, Cedrick, right? Cedrick: Yeah, what's up, man? Zack: Oh, nothing much. Cedrick: Hey, Ben, come on, talk to him. Zack: Uh, Cedrick, can you leave us alone for a second? Cedrick: Sure. (Cedrick leaves Zack and Ben to talk in private.) Zack: Come on, sit here. (Ben sits beside Zack.) Zack: Look, I'm really sorry for bailing on you earlier. Ben: It's okay. My question is, why are you not in the mood for hanging out? Zack: (inhales) (exhales) Long story. Okay, I'll tell you the reason. I'm not in the mood for hanging out with anyone because I've had big problems in my life, and I can't tell you that. I'm sorry. Ben: It's okay, I understand. I just want to cheer you up. Whenever you saved me from Connor's humiliation, I felt like I had a new friend. Zack: Thanks, that means a lot. Ben: Friends? Zack: Friends. (Zack and Ben shake hands with each other.) (In the end, Zack and Ben shake hands. Behind them, Cedrick and his classmates, along with Mr. Anderson, are seen smiling.)
