Chapter 10

Mira did nothing but glare at the two shifters in front of them while sitting on the couch together with Mattheo and Freddy. The wolf-shifter named Zachary smiled at her but Mira rolled her eyes in a sassy way as a reply.

"What makes the two of you come here?" She asked while Freddy is hiding behind her, of course, afraid of Salem that might eat him alive.

"Lady Marionette told us to." He replied before sitting near her. She and Freddy moved away, making Mattheo pushed to the end of the couch. Salem remained standing at the door while emotionlessly observing the three of them, "Come on, it's not like Salem neither I am going to feast on your bodies." Zachary gently laughed.

"The three of you are going to the mission together with...." He acts like he's hitting a drum and looked at the three first years energetically, "With me and Salem." His gaze averted at Mattheo and Freddy.

"So the scent that I smelled on her comes from the two of you, huh?" Mattheo didn't reply but Freddy is trying to hide at the lion shifter beside him, "Remember what I've said, Mr. Elf, but know your limits." Zach scanned the two of them then grin, "Hmm, I assume that you're Frederick Douglass and you're Mattheo Leonory."

"Why the two of you?" Mira asked, definitely trying to change the subject and the two males beside her agreed.

"Should I explain everything to you?" He crossed his legs in a manly way, "Lady Marionette won't take the risk of letting the three of you get paired up with mages." Zach darted his eyes at her.

"You're not an exemption, Mira."

"And you're his luggage," Salem added then looked away, seems like hiding how she snickers by that.

"So, does the four of you are going with us?" Zach asked. He noticed the worried expression on Freddy's face so he cleared his throat then placed both of his hands on his lap, "By the way, it's alright if the three of you say no."

"Count me in,"

"And also Mattheo." Freddy took a glance at me then averted his gaze at Mira who's in a poker face and hasn't said anything, "But I don't think she's going to." He added.

"I'm giving you time to think about your decision, Mira. Later, I'm going here again to know your answer." Zachary said before standing up and motioned Salem to leave. The door shut and that creates a small thud.

Mira hugged her knees and heave a deep sigh, "You shouldn't think too since it's obvious that I'm not going."

"Mira, you need to understand that those students who got sent into the mission like what Mr. Wolf's telling us are specially picked by the headmistress. She's testing us." He explained while Mira seems like doesn't have any interest in what's he's saying.

"Maybe we enhance ourselves too and we can graduate easier." That phrase catches Mira's attention and interest. That's what she wants, leave the school and go back to the life that she's supposed to live in the human realm.

She held both Freddy's shoulders and look directly to his eyes in full of hope, "Is that so? Them I'm going." The elf smiled in glee and both of them squeal in excitement.

But minutes later, they were both surrounded by silence after Mattheo stood up and entered his room. They know what is the meaning of that, his slumber got interrupted by them.

"Freddy, I would like to ask you about this,"

"Alright, what is it?"

"Are you familiar with telepathy? Like talking just by using your mind?"

"Yes! I always do that with Mattheo when we're answering seat works."

"Isn't that cheating?"

"Come on, I'm giving Mattheo answers to those questions that he didn't know but...we almost got caught by Mr. Jairus. So we stopped."

"I'm just curious. How can you do that?"

"Just concentrate and try to surpass the boundary or a wall then you can communicate with everyone with that."

"I see, but I don't understand at all."

"Try to concentrate."

'Concentrate?'

'Hunkin' f**k? Mira you..'

'Why your mouth is not opening?' Mira furrowed her brows while looking at Freddy who's been smiling at her in glee.

'Shut it will you, dimwits?'

"Who's that?" Freddy snicker and taps Mira's shoulder, "That's Mattheo."

"We should inform Mr. Wolf about your decision so we can prepare." The fire from the fireplace move on its own and turned into a prim and proper man who bowed politely at the two of them despite how Mira freaked out and tried to drag Freddy towards the door.

"s**t! s**t! s**t!"

"Calm down Mira. Mr. Ifrit won't ---" Ifrit raised his hand in the air to calm Mira down as he walks towards them, "My apologies, Ms. Mira Chivalry for going here without you knowing. Lady Salem send me here to know your answer." He scanned her from head to toe then stood snapped his fingers, causing the folded fabric to appear on his hands.

"Seems like you finally made your decision, Ms. Chivalry. Lady Salem and Mr. Zachary would like the three of you to wait for them near the main building. Mr. Zachary also wants the three of you to wear this hooded cloak."

"Who are you?" Mira responded, making Ifrit chuckled and bowed formally, "I'm Ifrit, Lady Salem's butler and also her assistant. We meet countless times but I always forgot to introduce myself to you, how rude of me."

"When you're here means that lunatic kid named Salem is here."

"Lady Salem is not here, she's in her room, probably taking a nap."

"You're going to participate in the mission as the new student of the Elite class." Mira raised a brow at Ifrit, obviously questioning every word that comes from him.

"Elite class?"

"You heard it right, Ms. Mira. The Principal, Lady Marionette, the three of you will go to the same class together with the other Elites by Mr. Levine's request."
