Aria, a strong-willed and spirited young woman, has always felt an unexplainable restlessness—a sense of something missing, of a destiny unfulfilled. After moving to the mysterious town of Wolfwater for college, she feels that same pull more intensely. Strange dreams haunt her nights: visions of running under a silver moon, of ancient forests, and of being something beyond human. Her culinary studies are her escape, but questions about her past linger. One evening at her bartending job, she meets Aaron, the charismatic Alpha of the Silver Moon pack. From the moment their eyes meet, there's an undeniable, electric connection that stirs something deep within her. Yet, the path to romance is complicated: Aaron already has a mate, Michelle, a relationship bound by duty rather than true love. Aaron is as drawn to Aria as she is to him, confused and shaken by a bond he believed only possible with his original mate.Aria, meanwhile, feels torn and cautious around him, unable to explain her emotions. When Aaron opens up, revealing the world of werewolves and his role as Alpha, she is overwhelmed but fascinated. As they spend more time together, Aaron’s loyalty to Michelle is tested. His feelings for Aria grow stronger than anything he ever felt for his original mate, and he begins to realize that this bond may be part of a larger, more sacred destiny.

Chapter 1
The first light of dawn slipped through the curtains, casting soft, golden hues across the room. Aria stirred beneath her blankets, groaning softly as her alarm began its shrill beeping, announcing the start of a day she’d been anticipating for months. Her hand shot out, silencing it, and she sat up, blinking the sleep from her bright blue eyes. They glimmered like ocean waves against her bronze skin, a striking contrast framed by the cascade of long, raven-black hair spilling over her shoulders. Today was it. The day she would move out of Aunt Rhea’s cozy little house and into her new apartment near Wolfwater University. Aria dressed in a simple but favorite outfit: a fitted black tee and jeans. She slipped on her necklace—a black leather choker with rings and chains dangling from it—and took one last look at her room, filled with memories. Her bags were already packed, sitting by the door, ready to go. With a deep breath, she left her room and made her way down the hall, catching the scent of something warm and familiar. In the kitchen, her Aunt Rhea was busy at the stove, flipping pancakes with practiced ease. The soft sound of sizzling butter filled the air, and the table was already set. Rhea, with her warm smile and gentle eyes, looked over her shoulder as Aria walked in. "Morning, sweetheart,” Rhea greeted, her voice gentle as always, though Aria noticed a hint of sadness behind her smile. “Are you ready for the big day?” “As ready as I’ll ever be,” Aria replied, forcing a grin as she took a seat at the table. “Excited, nervous… kind of everything all at once.” Rhea chuckled, placing a stack of pancakes in front of her before settling into the chair across from her. “Sounds about right,” she said, pouring them each a glass of orange juice. “You’re going to do amazing, Aria. It’s been a long time coming.” Aria nodded, taking a bite of pancake, savoring the warmth and sweetness. Breakfast with Rhea had been a comforting ritual these past few years, and now that she was about to move out, it hit her how much she’d miss it. “Do you think Wolfwater will be… I don’t know, different?” Aria asked, stirring her orange juice absentmindedly. “I mean, everyone talks about how strange things get there.” Rhea’s smile faded just a little as she looked at Aria thoughtfully. “Wolfwater has its quirks,” she said carefully. “It’s an old place, full of history and all kinds of people… some who aren’t quite ordinary.” Her eyes held a hint of warning, though her tone remained warm. “You may find yourself around a few unusual characters. Just keep an open mind, but trust your instincts, alright?” Aria’s curiosity piqued. She’d heard rumors, of course—stories of Wolfwater being a little different, a little… enchanted. But she’d dismissed most of them, assuming they were local legends, whispers passed down through generations. “You make it sound like I’ll be meeting wizards and werewolves,” Aria joked, raising an eyebrow. Rhea chuckled, though there was a twinkle in her eye that Aria couldn’t quite read. “Just remember, not everything is what it seems at first glance. You may be surprised.” They finished breakfast in comfortable silence, and after clearing the dishes, Aria gave Rhea a long, tight hug. The scent of lavender and honey surrounded her, grounding her one last time before she stepped into the unknown. “Take care of yourself, sweetheart,” Rhea murmured as they broke apart. “And if you ever need me, I’m just a phone call away.” “Thank you, Aunt Rhea,” Aria said, her voice catching slightly. “For everything.” With one last, lingering glance, she picked up her bags and stepped out the door, her heart pounding with anticipation and a hint of bittersweetness. Today marked the beginning of a new life, one filled with mystery, independence, and the unknown world of Wolfwater University. Aaron POV I sat behind my desk, glancing over the familiar faces in my study: my mate, Michelle, and my two most trusted friends—Ulysses, my Beta, and Floyd, my Gamma. The air was charged, even though no one had said much yet. Michelle's gaze flitted between the three of us, and I could tell she had something on her mind. Finally, she broke the silence. “Aaron,” she said, her voice soft but purposeful, “I think it’s time we start thinking about...producing an heir. Our pack needs stability, and having an heir would secure that.” I blinked, caught off guard. My mind raced, processing the gravity of her words. An heir—an Alpha in waiting. It wasn’t something I’d given much thought to, and yet, here she was, laying it out as if it were a simple decision. I turned to gauge Ulysses and Floyd’s reactions. Ulysses shifted slightly, and Floyd rubbed the back of his neck, exchanging glances before either of them spoke. Floyd cleared his throat, his usual casual demeanor turning serious. “Aaron, this is a big decision. Are you sure this is what you want?” I felt a spark of irritation flicker inside me. “What are you trying to say?” Ulysses, ever calm, took a step forward. “We’re saying this needs thought. The pack...hasn’t fully accepted Michelle yet.” His voice was gentle but firm. “There are many who...don’t feel she’s the right fit as Luna.” A tense silence fell over the room, and Michelle looked stunned. Her face turned pale, her eyes widening. “What are you talking about?” she asked, her voice cracking. “I’ve done everything I can to be part of this pack. They just don’t want to see their Alpha happy, that’s all it is.” She turned to me, visibly hurt. “Is that true, Aaron? Your pack doesn’t want me?” I clenched my jaw, anger simmering. How dare they put her in this position? Without another word, she turned on her heel and stormed out, leaving the door swinging behind her. I turned my glare on Ulysses and Floyd, who stood there watching her go, seemingly unmoved. Floyd, ever the peacekeeper, tried to ease the tension. “Look, Aaron, we didn’t mean to upset her. It’s just... we’re looking out for the pack and for you, you know?” But I was having none of it. I slammed my hand on the desk. “That’s enough, Floyd! Don’t you think I know what’s best for this pack?” Floyd’s usual grin faltered, and he lifted his hands, placating. “We’re not insulting her, Aaron. We’re just saying...maybe she’s not the Luna we need.” Ulysses nodded, his expression neutral. “It’s not about her as a person. But the pack, Aaron, they need someone they believe in. And right now, Michelle...she doesn’t have their support.” My fists clenched, anger rolling off me in waves. “I don’t need to hear this from you. Either of you.” I pointed to the door, my voice as cold as steel. “Get the hell out of my study.” They exchanged a quick glance, clearly unhappy, but they knew better than to push me. With one last look, they turned and left, the door closing behind them, leaving me alone in the silence that now felt stifling. Third POV As the heavy oak door closed behind Ulysses and Floyd, Aaron exhaled a frustrated sigh, feeling the weight of his decisions pressing on him. He knew they meant well, but their encouragement to do something about Michelle only highlighted the confusion he was battling. He ran a hand through his hair, feeling the silence of the study settle around him like a heavy cloak. Taking a deep breath, he reached out mentally, calling for Atlas, his wolf. *Atlas,* he murmured internally, *I need your thoughts on this.* Atlas’s voice responded with a deep rumble, carrying the wisdom and strength that had guided Aaron through countless battles. *I’ve been here all along, watching you wrestle with this.* There was a pause before Atlas added, *I’ve been waiting for you to acknowledge the truth, Aaron. This bond with Michelle…it isn’t what you think it is.* Aaron sank into his chair, feeling the truth of Atlas's words echo in his heart. *What do you mean?* *I’ve felt many mate bonds in my time, Aaron,* Atlas replied, his voice steady but laced with a hint of skepticism. *But none as weak as this one. The connection we share with Michelle…it lacks the depth, the intensity a true mate bond should have. You know it, too. That’s why, despite a decade, you’ve never marked her.* Aaron felt a pang of guilt ripple through him. *I wanted to believe it was real,* he admitted quietly. *I thought…maybe if I gave it time, my feelings would grow, that I could love her and she could be the Luna the pack needs.* Atlas’s voice softened, but his conviction remained firm. *The pack deserves a true Luna, Aaron. Someone who would put them above herself, who shares in your values and in your heart. Michelle has never truly earned their loyalty or respect. They need someone who strengthens them, not divides them.* Aaron clenched his jaw, torn between his duty and his heart. *But the pack needs stability,* he argued, feeling the responsibility he bore for the Crescent Moon Pack weigh heavily on him. *Breaking this bond with Michelle would create chaos, and they’d lose faith in me as their Alpha.* *Then ask yourself this,* Atlas said, his tone grave. *What does your heart say?* Aaron’s gaze drifted toward the window, he thought about all the times he’d had with Michelle and all the interactions between her and pack members. *I don’t love Michelle,* he admitted at last, the words feeling like a release as they left him. *But I’ve made a commitment to her, to the pack. They need a Luna.* Atlas’s voice softened. *A commitment to Michelle is one thing, Aaron, but a commitment to your pack—to their well-being and their future—that is a higher duty. And sometimes, duty means making painful choices. She is not this pack’s Luna Aaron, the sooner you accept that the sooner the pack can heal from her.* Aaron fell silent, the conflicting emotions swirling within him. His loyalty to his pack was unwavering, yet he felt trapped in a loveless bond that neither fulfilled him nor truly benefited those he led. The idea of ending things with Michelle was daunting; he could already envision the backlash, the uncertainty. But the possibility of finding a true mate, someone who would love and support him and his pack wholeheartedly, tugged at him in a way he couldn’t ignore. A small part of him hoped, no…prayed that moon goddess would send him a true mate to love. Someone that would love him and his pack with every fiber of her being. *Maybe…* Aaron's voice was hesitant, vulnerable. *Maybe I don’t have to sacrifice love for duty.* Atlas’s presence warmed, a quiet reassurance settling in. *You’ll find the answer, Aaron. You’ve always been a leader with both strength and heart. Trust that, no matter what lies ahead.* Aaron nodded, a newfound resolve hardening within him. He may not have all the answers yet, but he knew one thing: he would find a way to do right by his pack—and himself.
