You Belong With Me

As I was walking through the hallway and there was this guy, the most handsome boy I know. Talking on the phone while frantically scratching his head, appearing foolish, and feeling pathetically depressed at his partner, who is constantly upset with him. Hi I am Briella Keih Zalbañez, College student, 23 year old, simple and a kind girl. I am the girl who is typically out of place and everyone ignores me, but Zachary Leo Felis, my best friend, thinks I'm valuable—but only as a friend. It hurts right? And when I got near to him I saw tears falling from his eyes. That was the most painful thing I felt, that he cried because of other girl. And here I am, his friend, the one he always relies on, the one who is there for him when he is sad, the one who comforts him when he and his girlfriend are having problem. Yes he loves me but only as a friend, yes he's with me but because he and her girlfriend is not okay. We can be more than that, if only he could see it, if only he could feel it, if only he could realize that he belongs to me and not to that girl. "Oh what happened to my Zachary?" I am the only one who call him that way, almost everyone refers to him as Zach or Mr. Felis; even his girlfriend never use his full name. We are childhood best friends that's why I'm used to call him in that way. He looked at me hugged me while crying. "Keih? She's mad at me again, I don't know what to do anymore, I want our relationship to be okay, I can't lose her". He was telling me that while he is crying and my heart hurts so much. "It's okay Zachary maybe this is just a struggle of your relationship to make you stronger together." He stopped crying as usual, I think he felt relief with my words. "That's why I love you my girl, you always make me feel better, where did you learn to speak so well? Why didn't you bring me along?" He added the line where he even managed to make a joke. "You know what? I think you're okay now" Yeah, when he talks to me, he feels better right away. So why isn't he able to see that being with me makes him feel better than he does with his girlfriend? "You think?" He asked and smiling as if it wasn't obvious from his face that he is okay now. "Yeah, so we need to go now to our first subject Zachary". As we walked to the room, we chatted and laughed as if we were the only ones walking down that hallway. This? This is the precious moments that I always want. Sometimes I don't know if I'm happy when they're not okay or I'm sad because that girl makes my Zachary sad. >>>>>>>>A day passed>>>>>>>>>>>>> Today is a weekend, Zachary called me, he and his friends will be on a trip to one of the islands in the Philippines, that island is one of their many properties. The Felis family is the most famous in the country, they have lots of properties and businesses here, in short they are the richest people in the country. Our family is also rich but not as rich as theirs, his family and my family are good friends. Zachary and I weren't even born yet our families were already friends. They have partnership in business. Let's go back to where Zachary called me. He called me to join them on their trip, he said their vacay was by partner and his girlfriend refused to go with him. And that would be two days and one night stay there. "Keih please agree, come with us, that vacay will be exiting promise!" He plead as if he will die if I refuse to come. "My god Zachary you said that trip is by partner, are we even partner?" " Yes! We are partner.." he said in a loud voice. "Huh?" My heart suddenly pound, my breathing stopped and my brain also stopped functioning. "What did you say Zachary?" "Briella Keih Zalbañez we are always partner right? Since we we're young we are best friends, partner in crimes you forgot that?" I sigh I felt a little sad, because I thought it meant something, but it was only a little, I'm still okay. "Okay okay okay Zachary Leo Felis, I'll just tell mom and dad and I'll pack my things right away." "Yes! That's my girl, tell me when you get done I'll pick you up." He said in a very happy voice. Why is he acting like that? He act as if we're in a relationship! Time passes Zachary is already here. I've already packed some clothes to bring and you know, girl things. I only brought two luggage, I wasn't prepared because it was so sudden. "Ahm Keih? Are you going on one month vacay?" He asked me nicely. "What? You said it's only two days right?". I speak very innocently, and then suddenly he just laughed louder and said. "Then why did you bring your things like you will be gone in a month?" He laughs as if there's no tomorrow to laugh. I frowned and pout "okay stop the car" I acted like an angry girlfriend. "Hey don't act like a child" then he laughs. Idiot, like a child? Me? He is really numb grrr. When we arrived at the airport, we saw his friends waiting for us. We are four couples, so we are eight people in total. Wait let me correct it, there are four partners of us, I was being too presumptuous about the couple I was talking about. I almost forgot Zachary and I aren't couple. "I guess Ashiela didn't agree to come" It was Melvin Gordon, Zachary's closest friend among them. "Yeah nothing's new Melv" Zachary sigh deeply. "That's good I prefer Briella Keih to be with us than that girl". He says those lines while smiling at me. "Bro let's just go, maybe Ashiela is just tired that's why she doesn't want to come." It was Zachary he's talking about his girlfriend. "Whatever bro" it was Melvin. "Guys let's go we might be late for out flight." I was Kelvin, Melvin's brother. Melvin and Kelvin are twin brother, their family are also known in the country, the Gordon groups. We are now in our respective seats inside the plane. "Hey Keih, I'll just take a nap first, wake me up when we get there, okay?" It was Zachary "Yeah take a nap I know you were tired last night from convincing Ashiela to come with you." "Thanks". And then he leaned his head on my shoulder and fell asleep. We took direct flight because that is the fastest option so the trip to El Nido Palawan will only take 1 - 1.5 hours. By the way, the property they own is in El Nido Palawan. They say they don't visit there that much because they are so busy. That's why this 2 day vacation came about because his dad ordered Zachary to visit their island and see how their caretakers were doing there. Throughout the trip I just thought about what would happen in two days and one night without Ashiela his girlfriend. I always thinkining It always crosses my mind, what if I seduce Zachary or what if I admit to him that I have feelings for him? but I also think that if I do that, it might just ruin the friendship we have. I looked at Zachary's very gentle face. His beautiful eyes that only looked at Ashiela. His nose standing proudly, and his lips that are so seductive with their softness. I whispered in front of him while he was asleep "Will I really just be your friend, Zachary?" I sighed very deeply before I woke him up.
