CHAPTER 30 LACHLAN If there's one thing you can rely on in New York...it's the goddamned traffic. It was supposed to be a damn twenty-minute ride to the hotel. To get back to Sabrina and explain myself. Explain why I didn't immediately cast Deborah the decoy to the side and decide to bring her as my date instead. So why do we need to keep multiple paths of getting to our destination in hand, ladies and gents? To avoid getting stuck in traffic, that's why. Because it’s unpredictable. Absolutely unpredictable is the New York traffic. In a maze of yellow cabs, with headlights illuminating my way, I shift in the cab, my back so damn stiff from the tension my body is still holding onto. But it's not the ride that's killing me.
