Chapter 20: Someone’s in trouble

1710 Words
Trick I found Grayson in his office and rose an eyebrow when he slammed the door behind me. “Something you want to tell me?” He asked, glaring at me and daring me to lie. “You know don’t you,” I said. “That you f.ucking went to your old pack and killed them all leaving a blood bath? Yeah, I know.” “How?” “One of them called our number and told me you were out of control and to make sure you didn’t go after them, said they’ve had to go on the run because you lost your s.hit, went into their territory and s.laughtered everyone.” “You believe them? That I just randomly turned up and killed everyone for no reason?” “Did I say I f.ucking believed them? I believe you killed them and I believe you had a damn good reason, or I hope you do because I’ve seen what you’re capable of, how much control you can lose.” “I only just got back last night with Molly, they took her, they hit her, they tried to…” I trailed off, and he snarled, “what?” As if he already knew what was coming. “They tried to r.ape her, Axel almost succeeded, he already…had himself pressed against her, someone else had her pinned down, if I had been a second longer he would have penetrated her.” I had to make tight fists and restrain myself from punching the wall. Grayson snarled, “I’ll help you track down the others, but next time f.ucking tell me when there’s a problem, I’m your alpha and need to know about these things, you don’t solve problems by yourself.” “Understood.” He walked past me and I watched him go over to Molly’s, I followed him back and stood in the doorway watching him, he hesitated for a moment, Grayson didn’t show any affection to anyone besides Lara and Natasha, Molly was the rare exception, and he went over and hugged her. “Grayson, what are you doing here?” She smiled and stood up to hug him properly. “Checking you’re alright darling.” “I am.” “You really need to stop running off without telling anyone, it’s so dangerous, and it will be even more dangerous now you’re a female werewolf.” “I only wanted to go into town,” she mumbled. “I know darling, but all it takes is for some random mutt to be in our territory and smell you. I’m not trying to control your life I’m just trying to protect you and keep you safe.” “I know, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, I keep forgetting I’m a werewolf, he told me I smelt like I was in heat and I should be careful.” “He?” Grayson asked. “You know,” she mumbled unable to say his name. He nodded, “sorry for asking.” “Do I?” “Huh?” Was Grayson’s amazing response. “Do I smell like I’m in heat? More than normal?” “Oh, uh,” he looked uncomfortable and then looked over at me for help. I hadn’t noticed in all the chaos and everything that had happened, but now, sniffing the air I did, and now I noticed, my body reacted, she smelt so f.ucking good, if I thought Natasha had smelt good, then she had nothing on Molly, even Ellie hadn’t smelt this good. Grayson saw my face, I don’t know what it showed, but he said, “don’t feel bad, it’s natural, she’s your mate, and they always smell even better when they’re your mate.” I cleared my throat awkwardly and didn’t say anything. Grayson got the hint and said, “uh, anyway, I just wanted to see you were ok, and if you need me for anything you know where to find me.” Molly nodded and smiled, and then he left us alone. She came over and wrapped her arms around my waist, she smelt so good I could barely think straight, how the f***k had I not noticed it before? “Did you want to go see Natasha for a bit?” I asked, I needed her away from me before I tried coming on to her. “But Kai’s there, and you don’t like him near me.” “It’s fine, I trust you and trust him too because I know he loves Natasha, I just don’t like him being all over you, but that’s my problem not yours.” “I won’t let him be all over me, I should be respectful to you.” I smiled softly and kissed her on the lips. “I love you.” “I love you too.” When she left I could finally breathe again, although her scent still lingered in the air faintly. I wanted to focus on hunting down the four of my old pack mates that had run off. I tried to think about where they would go, my old alpha had always taught us to hide in fancy hotels where violence couldn’t so easily occur, I knew they wouldn’t leave London, it was their home and all they knew, even for their lives they wouldn’t lose the only home they had ever known, the alpha had always drummed it into us how lucky we were to have what we had, that we only had each other, and it would be the gravest thing to abandon our home, our territory, better we die than lose it, he always said. I left out of desperation and hatred for him, they didn’t hate him like I did, my hatred was more personal than the beatings and the t.orture, I was used to that, it was the whole killing the woman I loved while I was still inside of her, and acting as if she had been no more than a f.ucking bug to him where my hatred had truly begun, then offering me like some piece of meat to be used by the Luna in America and so on, the rest of the pack didn’t hate him on the same level I did, and it was still ingrained them to never allow another pack to take over our territory, I knew they would be hiding out in London somewhere, maybe even here in Surrey seeing as they wanted Molly. Axel or no Axel that wouldn’t change, in fact, they might be even more determined to get to her now as some sort of revenge or in honour of what Axel wanted, I don’t f.ucking know, and I wasn’t sitting around to find out. I went to find Grayson and found him in the kitchen of the main pack house, he was in the middle of play fighting with Lara, I smirked as I watched them, I liked Lara, around the same height as Molly with dark brown hair like mine that could easily be mistaken for black, light olive skin and almond hazel eyes that looked brown until the light hit them, or you got close, she was an attractive woman and I liked that she wasn’t afraid of Grayson, he was a good mate to her and made her feel safe enough to be able to play rough, she knew he would never hurt her, even though like me, I’m sure she had heard what he did to mutts who crossed him, I’d seen footage too, my old alpha had made me watch, so I could learn and copy, to say I had nightmares would be an understatement, I had woken up in sweats, shivering, it had f.ucked me up, but the more I was forced to do it to misbehaving pack mates or outsiders the more I had become numb, the drugs helped and there came a point I no longer felt anything about it, I had become used to it almost and then used it as an outlet for my pain and rage, done things more sickening than Grayson ever could have. I shook the thoughts away and watched Lara get him into a headlock and slam him to the ground, she got on top, straddling him and pinned his wrists down. I cleared my throat to let them know I was there as they had a tendency to end things in a more s.exual manner. “Trick!” Lara jumped off Grayson looking flustered and blushing while Grayson looked annoyed I had interrupted. “Sorry to interrupt, I want to go looking for my other pack mates, but you said I have to let you know, so this is me letting you know.” Grayson got up off the floor. “You want to go now? Right now?” “Yes.” I kept my voice cold and neutral, nothing new, the only person I spoke softly with or less coldly was Molly. “You talk like an alpha not a second in command,” Grayson said. “Sorry.” “Just an observation I wasn’t complaining,” he murmured curiously as he looked me over. I kept my face unreadable wondering what the f***k he was staring at, Lara asked, “what’s wrong?” To Grayson. He stopped staring and said, “nothing’s wrong, hopefully.” “What does that mean?” I asked. “You’re an alpha naturally, it’s fine until you decide you want to challenge me for my title and become an alpha.” “One, you would win, and two, I’ve never had any interest in being alpha of a pack or leading anyone, I’m happy as I am.” Grayson nodded, “ok, well, I’m coming with you.” I preferred to do things alone, but I knew how ruthless Grayson could be, and I wanted Molly safe, so I nodded. “What are you talking about?” Lara asked. Grayson looked at me, “can you give me a few minutes with her.” I walked out and waited on the porch, I was itching to leave, every second I wasted here was another second of them getting further away and hiding f***k knows where.
