"If you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello." ~ Paulo Coelho ༺═──────────────═༻ Chapter Two Davina threw her keys down onto her black leather couch, her legs sore from all the walking she did when she went to the mall. Her eyes were starting to feel heavy and she wanted nothing more than to curl up into bed and sleep the past few days away and not wake up until the end of the week but she knew wasn't able to do that for she had to be to work bright and early tomorrow for her rounds, something that required a lot of sleep and by the looks of it Davina wasn't going to get much of. Ever since Davina found out she was pregnant it seemed like she was always tired and cranky yet no matter how hard she tried going to bed early or take a nap in the middle of the day on her days off, she couldn't satisfy that part of her. Hopefully she did get enough sleep tonight because their was no way she was going to take a nap on one of the beds on the on-call room at the hospital, those things were uncomfortable and from the amount of Grey's Anatomy episodes she's watched only God knows what exactly goes down on those beds. "Sirius!" Davina called her black and white husky over as she sat on the couch, her legs giving out a cry of relief to finally be resting. The dog perks up from its bed, his tail swaying back and forth as it made its way towards the girl. Davina smiled as she started running her hands through his soft fur laughing when he rests his head on her lap closing his eyes from pleasure. Sirius was Davina's two-year-old Siberian Husky, a gift from Elio on her nineteenth birthday. He was named after Sirius Black, a character from one of her favorite books/movies Harry Potter. At first, Davina wanted to name him Cerebus, the three headed dog that was Hades pet down in the Underworld in Greek Mythology, but when she wrote down the two names on a piece of paper and had him choose, he chose Sirius and ever since it stuck. "Did you miss me? Mommy missed you, yes she did." Davina talked to the dog as she scratched behind his ear, his right back leg bouncing as she did so causing her to laugh. Davina continued on scratching and loving up her dog the sleepiness that she once was feeling long gone as she enjoyed her dogs presence. She loved Sirius with all her heart and couldn't imagine her life without him, he's been there for her from the start and hasn't left her side though he maybe a dog, she still knew that she could count on him even if he couldn't do much after all animals can feel their owners emotions and since Davina has been nothing but a sad mess, Sirius has been giving her love and comforting her as much as he can and Davina couldn't be happier. Ding! Davina looks down at her phone screen that just lit up from the notification. With her free hand, she reaches over and grabs it from the glass coffee table that was in front of her and unlocked her screen instantly opening up **. "Damn it I hate when I do that." Davina mutters to herself as she realizes that she accidentally swiped right to open the notification before she could see what it was. As she waits for the app to load, she grabs her water bottle down by her feet and takes a sip. Once the app was finally done opening, she looks back at her phone, her stomach instantly dropping as she spits the water that was once in her mouth all of the place as she looked at the post that was just posted by Petra Russo. Elio and I are gladly to announce that we will be adding a new edition to the Russo family in September 2020! This had to be some kind of joke! Petra was pregnant? Oh, Merlin. Davina's phone started to go off, Alice's name popping up on the screen along with the picture of her celebrating her twenty-first birthday on DisneyWorld. "Hello?" "Davina, whatever you do, DO NOT open **!" Alice's frantic voice yells through the phone, a small sad smile layering onto Davina's face as she heard the worry in her friends voice. "That's a little too late Alice, but thank you." Davina hears Alice sigh on the other line. "I'm so sorry Davina, Elio is a womanizer and you deserve so much better." "I know," "I'm being serious! Davina you're such a wonderful person! You're the most sweetest, nicest person I have ever met! You're wifey material! Whatever guy ends up marrying you has scored a touchdown with you, you're the end game!" Davina laughs wiping the tears that escaped her eyes and cleared her throat. "Thanks Alice, you're too kind but I'm none of those things. I'm a home wrecker. I'm the bad person in this equation, I continued on pursuing a relationship with a man that I knew was married for what? Nothing. I knew that once Elio got engaged that there would be no more Elio and Davina." "Do not say that! Davina if I'm being honest you had Elio first! I'm not saying what you did was the right thing, but I am saying that you wouldn't have done that to anybody else. f*****g b***h watch where you're going!" Alice said followed by the sound of her honking her horn probably cussing off the person who either cut her off. "If any other married man came up to you and asked to have an affair you wouldn't have done it but Elio is a different story because you love the man and you would do anything to keep him in your heart. Elio is the bad guy because he knew that you wouldn't tell him no." Davina sighed. Alice was right. Elio knew that when it came down to him that Davina couldn't say no because he knew that she loved him. His intentions may have been genuine at first but later on maybe they turned to a joke or perhaps it has always been a joke to him. She didn't know and at this point she doesn't think she has the guts to find out. "Do you want me to come over so we can watch Big Time Rush or something?" Alice asked cutting her thoughts off and bringing her back to reality. "No, that's okay. I have work in the morning and can't be late maybe afterwards though." She replied quietly. "Okay, you call me on your break tomorrow okay?" "Okay," She hears some muffled voices on Alice's part of the phone before Maria's voice echoes through the phone. "Davina! I love you so much honey and I want to thank you! I feel like I'm watching an episode of One Tree Hill!" Davina wanted to laugh or smile at Maria's comment because she knew she was only trying to make a joke and make her laugh but Davina didn't feel like laughing instead she felt sick to her stomach and this time it wasn't because of the baby. ༺═──────────────═༻ When Davina awoke the next morning she felt like a ton of bricks had hit her in the head and her eyes felt like they could shut forever. She knew that the reasoning behind her gross feeling today was because she cried herself to sleep the night before but it felt like her world came crumbling down and she didn't know how to survive. First, the man that she was madly in love with broke her heart into a million pieces claiming that he never loved her and that he never would, and second, the same man got his wife and Davina pregnant at the same time and threw Davina away like broken glass. Davina told herself a million times that she didn't need Elio help to raise the baby because she had all the support she needed with her friends and family, but she couldn't help but feel a little hurt and jealousy towards Petra his wife. Not only was she married to the man that Davina was in love with but she was going to have Elio holding her hand through the tough and good times of her pregnancy and Davina wasn't going to be able to experience it. She knew that Petra had no idea about Davina's pregnancy for Elio and just found out about it but how long had they known about Petra's pregnancy? Was Elio going to continue on sleeping with Davina knowing that his wife was pregnant with his child? Or was he going to break it off? Millions of thoughts clouded Davina's brain and she tried her best to push them away as she focused at work but she couldn't push them away, not when everyone around the hospital was talking about it. "Do you think they're going to have a boy or girl?" One nurse asked a lady behind the front desk, her baby blue scrubs dirty from the bowel movement incident with one of her patients. "I hope a boy, that way my daughter can marry their son." The lady behind the desk joked. Davina frowned as she placed a folder down on the counter, the two laughing completely ignoring Davina's existence. "I honestly think they'd make the cutest babies ever." The nurse exclaimed with a sigh, her red hair pushed back into a ponytail. "I wish I could have his baby." No you don't. Davina thought to herself as she grabbed the next folder and quickly walked away before she heard anymore talk about Elio and Petra, it was like their wedding all over again except this time nobody was giving her petty looks they all thought Davina had moved on from it but little did they know she didn't. "Ah there you are! I need you to remove Miss Nancie's feeding tube and prep her for surgery." Dr. Long said to Davina as she waited for the elevator doors to open. "I thought she wasn't scheduled for surgery until tomorrow." Davina stated her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. Dr. Long sighed tucking a red pen into his coat pocket. "She was but we had to change my schedule around. My daughter needs someone to take her to the dentist and my husband can't." Davina nodded her head bringing the folder close to her chest. Dr. Long was her favorite doctor and was her favorite mentor. He was head of OB/GYN and Neonatal Surgery something that Davina had been planning on getting a degree in. The two entered the elevator together except the ride was short as Dr. Long excited on the third floor leaving Davina to travel the rest of the way by herself. A wave of nausea hit Davina like a truck, a groan escaping from her lips as she placed her hand on her flat stomach and took a deep breath to keep every down. Once she entered the fifth floor Davina quickly ran to the bathroom and threw up her morning breakfast. ༺═──────────────═༻ Davina collapsed down on her king sized bed dramatically once she was finally home after a long day at the hospital, her muscles aching and her head pounding after dealing with an obnoxious phone call from her Aunt Susan who had to call and confirm that Davina was indeed using the fruit blender that she had gifted her the following Christmas before to which Davina had to lie and said she was when in fact she regifted it to Alice since she was the one who wanted it. Of course, Davina did feel guilty for a of couple days after she gifted the fruit blender to Alice because her Aunt Susan did gift her gift, but the guilt was soon gone after Davina reminded herself that her Aunt Susan gifted that to all of her cousins and didn't even spend a fortune on them because her Aunt Susan was married to one of the companies employees who got them for free, plus she always gave the same gift every year for Christmas and knew that she would be receiving another one this upcoming year. She loved her Aunt Susan, she was her fathers sister and always watched Davina when her parents had romantic getaways or when her parents went out on business trips and Davina couldn't attend, but the woman was cheap and liked to rub it into everybody's faces that she married this amazing man who gifted her all these nice things and whatnot when in reality they were struggling to pay off his gambling debt. A knock on her bedroom door was heard but Davina didn't bother looking up from the ceiling already knowing that it was Alice and Maria showing up so they could have their weekly girls night that consisted of watching romance movies, gossiping, and drinking wine. "How was your phone call with your Aunt Susan?" Maria asked to which Davina sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "Obnoxious like always, she kept on asking about the stupid fruit blender because according to her she gave me the rare one that cost her millions of dollars," Davina replied with an eye roll causing Alice to snicker. "Yeah, well that millions of dollars fruit blender already broke on me." Alice stated to which Davina laughed. "No offense to your aunt she and her husband probably got them from the dump when the company malfunctioned them. She's cheap." "None taken," "Anyway, are you ready to watch Ryan Gosling turn into your dream man?" Alice asked jumping into the bed spreading her legs and arms out so she was laying on her back like a star fish. Davina groaned but nodded her head. "As long as we don't watch The Notebook. I don't think I have it in me to cry anymore." Maria laughed taking the extra space at the top of the bed. "Of course, we were planning on watching Crazy Stupid Love." Davina nodded her head and sat up groaning when a wave of nausea hit her once again but thankfully she didn't need to rush to the bathroom to throw up, instead it went away and she was able to stand up after a minute or two. She walked out of her bedroom and into the living room not even bothering to check to see if Alice or Maria were following her. Davina grabbed one of the fluffy blankets that she got from one of her many trips to Paris to keep warm while she watched the movie and took her normal spot on the end of the couch curling her legs up in the process. Maria and Alice walked into the room at the same time, Maria having a tot bag filled with three bags of movie theater buttered popcorn, two bottles of Coca-Cola and a bottle of A&W Root Beer for Davina, and different sorts of candy. "Alrighty, who's going to be putting the movie on?" Maria asked talking a seat next to Davina placing her bag on the ground in front of her and looking at the two others. Alice rolled her eyes grabbing the DVD disc from the center table and walked over to the Blu-ray player to insert the disc. While Davina waited for the movie to load up, she grabbed a box of Reese's pieces and her soda. When Alice turned the lights off and took her seat on the other couch so that she could lay her legs out in front of her, Davina averted her attention towards the television screen allowing the movie to take her mind off everything that was going on in her life. ༺═──────────────═༻ The three girls were sitting at their usual table at Cafe Trio, a restaurant that was owned and ran by Maria's family when drama surfaced the air. They had just finished watching Crazy Stupid Love and decided to catch a quick bite before the restaurant closed and if Davina was being honest, she was craving mozzarella cheese sticks and Maria's mother always made the best ones. "I'm honestly calling Petra's pregnancy a bluff." Alice stated taking a sip of her white wine and moving her blonde hair away from her face with her right index finger. "Why do you assume that Alice?" Maria asked raising a perfect eyebrow at the blonde girl who shrugged her shoulders pushing her wine glass up so she would spill it and placed her hands on the table. "Are you kidding me? The woman was talking about how she wasn't ready to give up all the attention she was receiving from Elio last month at a banquet and now all of a sudden she's happily announcing she's pregnant? Wouldn't you think there's something up?" "No, they're married and excited to start a family," Maria said shrugging her shoulder shooting Davina a n apologetic smile. "Sorry Davina," "It's okay," Davina said with a sad smile. "It's true, they do seem pretty happy to start a family and it does kind of explain why Elio said he couldn't be apart of my baby's life." Alice shook her head in annoyance. "There's no way. I feel like if Petra was pregnant Elio would have already broken things off with Davina. Plus Petra is claiming she due in September meaning she has to be at least three to four months along if that and when I tell you when I saw her at the banquet last month she still looked like the anorexia b***h she is." "All pregnancy is different for every woman Alice, plus that's not something that a woman should ever lie about Alice and to assume that is very rude because what if she really is pregnant?" Maria asked to which Alice shrugged her shoulders raising her hands. "I don't think she is. Elio would have told Davina and we all know it." Alice said looking between the two girls who were watching the girl give off her conspiracy theory. "He probably didn't want to tell her because he knew that it would hurt her besides they could have wanted to wait to tell everybody on their own terms." Davina watched the two girls bicker back and forth about the situation not even bothering to ask Davina anything about what she thought of the matter but that was okay with her, she wouldn't know what to say or if she had anything to say about the situation besides call herself an i***t for even pursuing a relationship with a married man in the first place. "Don't you guys find it ironic that not even a day after Davina informs Elio of her pregnancy that Petra goes and posts about her pregnancy?" "Are you saying that Petra knew about the affair?" "All I'm saying is that this all doesn't make sense and I'm going to get to the bottom of this and solve the conspiracy." Maria rolled her eyes and looked over at Davina putting a smile on her face. "Enough about the Russo family, Davina sweetie when is your next appointment?" She asked bringing her margarita up to her lips to take a drink. "I go back in about a month, I should be about eight weeks around then." "Awe I'm so excited! I love babies." Maria gushed to which Alice nodded her head as she stuffed her face with another bite of her pasta. "You two are more than welcome to join me at my next appointment, I could use all the support I can get." Davina replied with a smile dipping one of her mozzarella sticks in the marinara sauce. "What day is it?" Davina pursed her lips as she chewed on the food that was in her mouth before grabbing her phone from where it laid next to her plate on the table opening the reminders app. "Tuesday, February fourth at noon." "Damn it, I can't Darla needs me to attend a meeting for her that day at eleven." Alice frowned. Davina smiled. "That's okay Alice, you can come to the next one. What about you Maria?" "That should work, I don't think I'm doing anything that day anyway." "Okay, well let me know if anything changes." Maria nods her head the subject about pregnancy dropping and the tension in the air being lifted. Davina finished her mozzarella sticks before the girls finished their pastas which gave her time to make a quick bathroom break before they all left and went their separate ways for the night. As Davina walked to the bathroom that was on the top floor, she felt like she was being followed but every time she would look back she didn't see anybody and brushed it back as paranoia plus the restaurant was due to close in ten minutes and it was a Sunday and not many people were out and about today. When she got to the bathroom, Davina quickly walked inside and took a deep breath but before she could take a step towards the toilet, a large hand covers Davina's mouth. "Davina, please don't scream." A voice whispers into her right ear, Davina's heart pounding in her ear so loudly but calms down at the sound of Elio's voice. Davina looks up at the mirror in front of her, her green eyes landing on Elio who was already staring at her in the mirror. Elio removes his hand away from her mouth once she calmed down but doesn't bother taking a step away from her. Davina takes in a shaky breath as she takes a step forward the smell of his familiar cologne making its way up to her nose, a smell that used to make her happy and calm but now it makes her upset and hurt. "Elio, what are you doing here?" "I wanted to see you." Davina turned around raising an eyebrow at the man behind her, her arms instantly coming up and crossing her arms over her chest, an action that didn't go unnoticed by Elio. "To see me? Oh really? How come? Was it to inform me about the news of your Petra's pregnancy? Well sorry to break it to you buddy but you're a little too late for that." Elio sighs shaking his head running his hands through his hair. "No, that wasn't what I wanted to see you about. I wanted to talk, I didn't like how we left things." Davina rolled her eyes. "It's a little too late for that Elio, you had your chance and you blew it. Stay away from me." She spat brushing past him. Elio grabs a hold of her hand that was on the doorknob, his green eyes pleading down upon Davina. "Davina, please. I love you." Davina shook her head. "I'm sorry Elio, you can say you love me but words ain't enough." Elio looks down at the ground his hand dropping from the doorknob. He takes a step to the side allowing Davina to walk pass not even bothering to follow after he just like he did the last time and this time it didn't hurt Davina to walk away. ༺═──────────────═༻ Davina didn't tell Alice or Maria about her encounter with Elio in the restroom, she didn't want the two to worry and she especially didn't want Alice to go on a rampage only God knows what she would have done to Elio if she knew she was already on a rampage because of her conspiracy theory about Petra's pregnancy. Instead, she went back to the table with a smile on her face and went on the rest of the night ignoring everything that happened. When she got back home from the restaurant, she checked every room and closet to make sure that Elio didn't try what he did at the restaurant again before she finally sat down in her bedroom and stared up at the ceiling. She wasn't going to lie to herself, it did hurt her when Elio told her that he loved her. He told her that he didn't and now he was claiming that he still did but she knew better than to believe him. She wasn't going to let him manipulate her like he did all those years ago, she was finally putting her foot down and taking a stand. She wasn't going to let Elio ruin her life she was going to move on from the past and focus on her future with her baby and she's going to raise this baby and be the best mother she can be and she will not let Elio ruin that for her. As far as she knew, Elio was dead to her. He meant nothing. Yes she was upset and hurt about him last night but after today she's finished being apart of his little game. She was better than that, she deserved better than being treated like a pawn piece in a game chess. Grabbing her phone from her back pocket, Davina opens up her contacts and erases both Petra's and Elio's phone number from her contact lists and unfollows them from social media not caring that she wouldn't get any more updates in regards to their life and not caring if they unfollowed her. She was starting anew and didn't need that negative energy ruining the new energy that she was possessing. She was finally moving on from Elio and she felt like something had finally lifted up from her shoulders and she could breathe. This was the start of something new. ༺═──────────────═༻
