Remarriage To The Alpha?
Remarriage To The Alpha?
Lila's POV.
As I trudged my way back home, my head hung low, a smile kept creeping onto my lips, almost as if I had lost my mind.
It was just me and my silly daydreams again, fantasising about being Ethan's girlfriend. He was so incredibly good-looking that he occupied my thoughts every second of the day.
The mere scene of his captivating green eyes locked with mine and his warm breath brushing against my face made me blush uncontrollably.
I longed to feel his flawless fair skin against mine, and his strong, muscular arms wrapped around my body.
Sure, he had a reputation for being a playboy, but I stubbornly clung to the belief that he was simply toying with their emotions, not genuinely caring for them and soon, he would become mine.
"He may be the notorious bad boy werewolf at school, but I'm convinced I can handle him!" I muttered under my breath as I approached my house.
As soon as I opened the door, my mother's piercing gaze greeted me, sending a chill down my spine. It was a look that made me almost plead for mercy before even uttering a word.
"Mom, I..." I began to speak, but she interrupted me, cutting off my sentence.
"Take a seat, Lila... I have something important to tell you," she stated, causing my heart to skip a beat for a moment.
Whenever my mom had this serious demeanour, it meant one of two things: either I was in trouble for disobeying her, or something else was terribly wrong.
Filled with a mix of curiosity and apprehension, I swiftly settled down on the couch positioned in front of her, eagerly awaiting her words. And then, she finally spoke up.
"I am getting married tomorrow, Lila!" She revealed, her lips forced into a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
She stared directly into my eyes, as if daring me to look away or challenge her.
I sank down onto the worn-out couch in our small sitting room, feeling its weakness beneath me.
I couldn't tear my gaze away from her intense stare, my eyes locked onto hers, unblinking.
Confusion swirled within me as I struggled to make sense of the shocking news she had just dropped on me.
My mind raced, desperately trying to comprehend what she meant by getting married tomorrow.
It felt like only yesterday that my mom and dad went through a painful divorce, and now, out of nowhere, she was springing this ridiculous announcement on me.
The timing seemed inexplicable, leaving me bewildered and filled with a mixture of fear and confusion..
"What? I... I don't understand, Mom," I stammered, my curiosity escalating to its peak. I couldn't help but question her, my voice laced with a tinge of hurt and disbelief.
"It means I am getting married to someone who will take care of us, Lila!" Mom exclaimed, her words laced with a mix of desperation.
She continued, her voice tinged with a hint of disappointment, "Look at you, almost turning 18 without a father. It's a disgrace for an Omega like you. You need a..."
But I couldn't let her finish. My anger surged, overpowering any respect I had for her. I abruptly interrupted her, rudely cutting off her explanation.
"Wait a minute, Mom!!!" I snapped, rising to my feet with a swift motion. My eyes squeezed shut momentarily, a futile attempt to quench the boiling emotions inside me.
When I opened them again, I locked my gaze onto her, my expression hardening.
"Tell me this is a joke, Mom!" I demanded, my voice laced with a mix of disbelief and frustration.
"Tell me you're not planning to force yourself into another marriage just because you think it's disgraceful for me to grow up without a father in the pack!" My brows furrowed, and my frown deepened as I awaited her response, hoping deep down that she would deny it all.
But nope… she didn't.
"A joke? Do I seem like a joke to you, Lila?" She retorted sharply, her voice laced with a mixture of frustration and seriousness. "Tomorrow, you'll be moving to a new home, and that's final! Get yourself ready!"
She abruptly rose from the couch, her intention clear to leave the room. But before she could make her escape, I grabbed her hand tightly, refusing to let go, my gaze locked onto hers.
The intensity in her eyes sent a shiver down my spine. It was evident that she was dead serious, and my heart raced in response.
"What if I refuse your command, Mom?" I questioned, my voice trembling with a mix of apprehension and defiance, trying my best to keep my tone from being loud.
"What if I say that I don't want a father?" I added, my words choked with fear, my entire being trembling at the weight of the news.
The memories of my dad's constant mistreatment haunted me, each instance etched into my mind. I never wanted to experience that pain again, not ever.
"You don't have any say in this, Lila! I am your mother, and I make the decisions around here! You can't refuse him, especially when he's the Alpha of our pack!"
My mom's voice suddenly divulged, causing me to freeze in place. My eyes widened in disbelief, and my jaw dropped at her shocking statement.
"The…what?" I stammered, my grip on her wrist loosening as my fingers instinctively clutched my dress.
"I am getting married to Alpha Jackson Hale first thing tomorrow morning, and there's nothing you can say or do to change that!" she revealed, her words striking me like a bolt of lightning.
"And yes…, I am carrying his child!" she added, each word causing my legs to wobble beneath me.
Every word that spilled from her lips felt like a heavy blow, each one harder to bear than the last.
First, the news of her unexpected marriage was a shock in itself. But now, to discover that she was not only getting married but to the Alpha of our pack, and carrying his child?
It was an overwhelming flow of information that threatened to drown me in a sea of emotions.
If there was one thing I knew about my mom, it was her unwavering determination. She never backed down from her fears, and it seemed that this marriage was no exception.
Fear gripped my heart as I gazed up at her unyielding stare. Her eyes bore into mine, sending shivers down my spine.
I felt small and useless in the face of her intensity, causing me to shrink down to the floor, overcome with a feeling of awe and trepidation.
Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine a day like this would come. The reality of it all felt like a cruel twist of fate, leaving me with a sense of helplessness.
"I... I...," I stuttered, struggling to find my voice amidst the whirlwind of emotions but then, Mom took over.
"I suggest you get ready, Lila! We leave at dawn!"
